I've definatly missed alot here. Haha, but I guess I'll just join in on the most recent topic.

lol. I wouldn't suggest trying to go back over a week's worth of topics, no.

I'd prefer a "welcome home" kinda GSR scene. The goodbye could be a little too dramatic, if you read too far into it. That would lead people the wrong way and the TV Guide would never shut up about how "they jumped the shark to bring them together and now it could be over." Blegh, I hate the way some people read too far into things.
But anyways, you can't think of 10 different meanings for a nice, happy, welcome home scene, whereas you can think of 10 thousand different meanings for a goodbye scene.
You know what I mean???

Yeah. And also, I think a goodbye kiss would have to be more than just a kiss. It would have to be a full scene of him leaving, them talking, and then a kiss, which probably wouldn't be that fun if it was angst-filled.

Hello can just be a good plain hello, because I think that if he has decided that she's a good part of his life and not the stressor or not a complication, then it goes back into nice fluffy simplicity.

But... I think we can all agree we'll take what we get when it comes to a liplock. lol.

Thanks to a dirty Hitchcock campaign (nose in air) Norman looks like he shall not be the Scorcese of thread title wins.

Nah i will prefer a goodbye kiss. Because likely is that they already kiss in the morning when they woke up in the morning in their beds (cause i think they're living together or at least one of them spends most of their time in one of their apartments). So i will like a goodbye kiss. But like an accidental kiss you know like Chandler and Monica :lol:

This is indeed a good point. The "hello" kiss would be unambiguous, whereas the "goodbye" kiss would be pretty damn loaded.

And of course, the goodbye kiss wouldn't be immediately followed by sex. Whereas the "hello" one clearly would. Got to think about these things practically :devil:

So you went for a sweet goodbye, which I guess is something we hadn't considered.

I think the reason I keep picturing angst is because the scene I have in my mind's eye is still very much the Oz leaving Willow scene. He's packing, she's sort of standing in the doorjam looking forelorn, and then he kisses her and promises to return.

Not nearly as angsty as that one, seeing as the terms on which Grissom is leaving are much less severe, but I think with

This is indeed a good point. The "hello" kiss would be unambiguous, whereas the "goodbye" kiss would be pretty damn loaded.

The Hello kiss will still be loaded, but I think it'll have a lot less doubt. A hello kiss is sort of like all of the pent-up emotions being destroyed with comfort. A goodbye kiss is sort of like a weak promise.

I'd love for Grissom to come back, and Sara to be shooting him sad looks (like he didn't call her the whole time and she assumes he's over her) and then the episode ends with a revamp of the Gum Drops scene with him coming to her house, her opening the door, her starting to say something, and then KISS.

about the kiss, i already said what i would prefer yesterday. or maybe i didn't cause i couldn't decide. ANYway, i think a lot depends on WHERE are they going to greet or say goodbye to each other. is she going to go to the airport with him, or pick him up from there, or will she be waiting for him in her/his apartament? the thing is, if we'll get the airport, the kiss will be more modest. if we get the 'domestic' hello, it's gonna, like fogi said, lead to sex. if they say goodbye at home, it'll be also more emotional. the thing is, as much as i would love to see them making out at home, i REALLY would die if they kissed in public. so, haha, i'm posting a poll *sticks tongue to sarah*

I think the real question, along with what would we prefer, is what would TPTB be more likely to want to shoot and film to have it be relevant to the case itself?

And in that sense, I think it's a goodbye kiss on a few levels. The first is that it's angstier, makes people want to watch for his return, and keeps them guessing about the state of the relationship until he does. Secondly is that it's easier to work into him feeling overwhelmed and talking to her about it - so sort of using her as a sounding board for a lot of why he's leaving.

So I guess that a goodbye kiss is more likely, if not preferred.

Speaking of something that has nothing to do with that, from the sounds of the people who've listened to the Gum Drops commentary on the Season 6 DVDs, Sarah Goldfinger said that the scene in the hotel room was going to have Greg walking in on them together (not together as in on top of each other, just in the same room).

There were going to be two beds, but it was going to have them talking to each other throughout the night, discussing love and life and death, and in the morning, Sara actually goes to Grissom's room with him and showers.

Which I guess is when Greg walks in. I haven't heard it yet.

I assume omaetoy will have it up eventually.

Either way - that's interesting. So it sounds like quite a bit of the Way to Go scene was recycled from Gum Drops - making the finale a little less slap-dash and sudden than some people might have assumed.

I voted for an emotional goodbye kiss. Sweetness and angst all rolled into one. I want one that would give us comfort that they're okay - and they will be okay - even though they're apart. That they want to be together over this time, but it's really best that he has this time out on his own. That they're sad to be leaving but it has to be done. And that yes, oh yes, she will wait up.

As for the hello/welcome back scene - we could just cut straight to the naked post-coital, a la CSI:NY, no? :devil:

I dunno - I really don't. I think I'm more struggling with how much TPTB are really going to show, and what they'd rather get across.

I think they know at some point we have to have a real straight-forward "romance" scene, but I see them targetting later sweeps for that.

I want to quickly pimp the Episode Ratings Bet at the moment - just quickly put down how many viewers you think tonight's episode will get. Will last week's GSR pump it up? Will Thanksgiving and Deal or No Deal bring them down?

Oh, agreed - I think it shows that they were most likely already together, but the double beds prove that they probably weren't sleeping together... yet.

You know what I find odd? About 40 people said that GSR was their OTP, 20 said it was their STP, yet we only get about 25 people voting in our polls. GSR Lurkers! VOTE! lol

They weren't going to get caught in the sense of him kissing her, I think it was more going to be a bit of a WTF moment, since they were in the same room. But, again, why is Sara taking a shower at Grissom's room when they shared hers' the night before?

I think Greg seeing Sara in nothing but a towel with Grissom reading the paper would've been hilarious.

But let's not forget HOW much gets cut from script to episode. Chances are that a lot of that, simply because they wanted to keep GSR more subtle for longer especially with bringing back Lady Heather, and with its possible irrelevance to the case, would've been trimmed if not ditched.

The advantage to putting it in the finale is that they can pretty much do whatever they want character-wise.
