Greg & Riley #1- Grey: 'Cause He Thinks She's Lucky

Bryn, the episode where Nick asked Greg what was wrong with Riley was 'Miscarriage of Justice' and the one where they called each other by each others' names was 'Way To Go.'

Personally, I would rather not have them ever go canon. Not to get too off-topic, but I still really don't think canon romance works in this show, or in shows like it. The reason, IMO, that character dramas like Grey's can pull it off is that they pair characters up with multiple different other characters over the course of a show's run. CSI isn't that kind of show. For the most part, when a character gets paired up with another canon character, they stay that way for quite a while. I think UST is what makes romance (or rather possible romance) interesting on a show like CSI. But maybe that's more my perception of romance in general. I always like the chase better than the actual romance. I like flirting more than being in an actual relationship, and, in general, I think flirting is more fun to see on screen, at least in shows like CSI. That way, it also gives all of the other ships a chance. Creating canon ships just divides viewers. The people who don't like the ship (and especially those who support opposing ships) end up disappointed, and the people who like the ship end up happy, but it's not like they'd be unhappy if the ship weren't canon.

Leaving it open also creates possibilities for more interpretations of the ship. Though maybe I'm looking at this too much as a fanfiction writer, and too little as a viewer. Either way, I really like the friendly banter and teasing between Greg and Riley, and I'd definitely worry that making them canon would change that, and I like other viewers having the possibility of seeing each character in a ship with other characters.

Lol, Dizzney. Greg with a date... Funny how we never see that happening. I can imagine their first date being very comical. If they were to go canon, I very much hope that their first date would be more amusing than romantic. I think Greggo would be a bit of a nervous spazz, and that Riley would use her dry wit and leave Greg confused as to whether she was being sarcastic. Overall, I love how they're such a fun couple, rather than an emotional and/or angsty one, so I think that if TPTB make them canon, they should do so in a way that emphasizes the fun in their relationship more than the romance. It's their friendship and amusing banter, more than sizzling chemistry, that makes them an appealing couple, IMO.
 
Well, I kind of agree in a way. Though I'd love to see one kiss between them (maybe a fantasy or something lol or possibly just a under the mistletoe kiss, nothing big), I do agree that canon couples in these kinds of shows creates division amongst fans. I think you said it before about a certain ship that killed another certain ship for you. Yeah, that same thing happened to me. So, I definitely see your point about the actual romantic pairing up should stay in fanfic land. :)

I'm a little out of it right now. I haven't been feeling too well today and had to take some medicine for it... and I think it's making me a bit loopy. So, you'll have to forgive me if I say something stupid today. :lol: On top of the sickness, I didn't get too much sleep last night. :( I hope I feel better by Thursday cause I'm supposed to go out of town for the weekend. :lol:

Anyway, it's funny how you can spell at least two colors with Greg and Riley's full names (excluding middle names which we do not know. I think some people think Greg's could be Hojem, but we've never been told for sure as far as I know). Other than Grey, you can also spell Green with their names. I wonder if there are any other colors you can spell with their names. :lol:

I can definitely see Greg being nervous. :lol: Probably a little clumsy due to the nervousness too. :lol:

Where do you think Riley and Greg would go on their first date? Rock concert? Mini-golf? Movie?
 
I say it'll be a value meal somewhere, just to stick with the comment in 'No Way Out.' I think it'll be something very silly and cute, not at all overly romantic.

Oh, and Greg's middle name is Hojem, as established in 'Let the Seller Beware':

Grissom: Greg!
Greg: Yeah.

Greg: See, now we're getting into this whole strip forensics thing and I'm not too sure I can hang with that - even if you are my boss.
Grissom: Your mother's maiden name was Hojem? Hojem is Norwegian, right?

A first date? Well not knowing enough about Riley yet it is hard to say, but with Greg I think maybe a concert. Mini-golf would be fun for them too. I could see them being competitive against each other. But I can definitely see them as a really fun couple.

As long as they keep up the current teasing/cute remarks relationship between them, I will be happy enough.
 
I could see Greg and Riley doing bumper boats/cars or go-carts on their date. :lol: Or maybe paintball or laser tag. :lol: How cute would it be seeing them playing laser tag? Haha. That would be so much fun. :lol:
 
^ That would be great! They'd get a rematch on their intense team paintball drill. (I'm fairly certain that those were paintballs they were shooting. The stuff that came out of Cath's gun looked like that.) I can totally see them doing something like that. Something competitive would be good. Competitive and fun. And it's amazing how much fun one can have in the dark :devil: Laser tag seems like the perfect combination. I can totally imagine them using all of their training to kick everyone else's butts, even if everyone else consists of people who are signficantly younger.
 
Their first date would be extremely amusing. I think they'd do something fun and competitive like mini-golf or laser tag and be at each other all night, then end up collapsing due to uncontrollable laughter. That is what is so great about this ship. It would be a ton of fun.

I might write a fanfic of their first date. Anyone want to help? I'm always open =D
 
I agree. Definitely something competitive and fun! Laughter is key. I can also kind of imagine them sneaking in dates between shifts. Do you guys think that, if they were in a relationship, they would keep it secret for the most part, or that they'd be open about it with Cath and possibly other colleagues?

And Bryn, I'd love to help you with the fic ;)

Also, anybody know how to cap episodes using either CBS's online screen or VLC, any standard Mac OSX gear or any other free software? I really want to figure out how to cap a few more shots of those two.
 
You can download and use CaptureWizPro free for 30days, after that I think you can order it for like 30 or 40 bucks (US).

Photoscape (free program) has a screencapture feature, but I've never used that particular feature.

As for VLC, I have it, but have only used it to cap shots from my dvds. I've never tried using it on a website.

I can see Greg and Riley sneaking in dates between shifts. Might make for some humourous scenes too. I think that Greg would want to tell Nick (since he's basically assistant supervisor) at least if not Cath also. Though I don't think a Level 2 and Level 3 CSI dating would be as big a deal as a Level 3 with a Supervisor. :lol:

The sneaking would be hilarious, IMO.

And true, the Level 2/ Level 3 thing is much better that level 3/Supervisor. That was just weird.

Hmmm.... They might keep it a secret for a while, and then maybe Cath would find out, since she's so perceptive and all. =]
 
Well, I could kind of see it happening like this:

Greg and Nick are sitting in the break room talking when Riley walks in. Greg can't take his eyes off of her and Nick notices immediately. Nick smiles and asks Greg what he's thinking. Greg, not taking his eyes off Riley answers where only Nick can hear, "I don't know, Nicky. I think I may be in love." haha... but then later Greg and Riley realize they both feel the same about each other and they start dating. Nick pretty much knows right away and just smirks whenever he sees them together at work. Cath will notice too cause she's a mom and moms always notice stuff like that. :lol:
 
^ Lol. That would be quite cute. Cath is indeed quite perceptive. I liked her comment that "she knew before [Grissom] knew" that he was leaving. I can definitely see her picking up on other relationships. Then again, she seemed surprised that Griss and Sara were together. It might especially be difficult to pick up on Greg and Riley because Greg has, at least in the past, had the tendency of flirting with just about everyone. It felt like he wasn't doing that quite as much in the past few seasons, but seems to have picked back up, at least in part, on being flirtatious, or at least humorous and teasing, since Riley's joined the team.
 
Well, it's true Greg has a flirtatious background. :lol: However, I think people would notice because there'd be something extra there. I mean, I'm sure Greg would be the gentleman and open doors for her and such anyway, but I could see him going out of his way to do that. People would have to notice things like that. :lol: :D
 
Baha I like that. Nick is just like, "So, Greggo... Hmmm..."

Okay, I watched 'No Way Out' and it was ah-mazing!! You could tell Greg was REALLY worried... And I loved when he called her Sanders! The way he said it was really sweet! And, in the end, he didn't hug her, but he didn't take his eyes off of her, and he kept moving closer and closer... It was sweet.

I can definitely see Greg going out of his way to be a gentleman for her. That's how it should start off, I think. I mean, I'm not pushing for them to go canon, I am just saying.

Hmmm, so many fic ideas spinning around in my head...
 
Hey, I think this is my first post in here. Weird...I've been lurking for awhile.

I have to say, I do like the Greg/Riley relationship. My sisters and I even came up with a name for them. Even though you guys already have one, I though I'd post it here: Randy (R from Riley, AND from Sanders, and the Y from Riley). We also thought of Randers (You know, like Canders, but with an R for Riley). I like them. But I also like Grey.

Either way, these two have some definite chemistry and I'm liking it.
