Greg & Riley #1- Grey: 'Cause He Thinks She's Lucky

Well, I am very excited for that episode, though I wish it was Greg and Riley being taken hostage. (A girl can dream, eh?)

Thanks so much for the pictures!

As for the episode last night, they only had one scene together, but I still liked it. At least they were standing next to each other, somewhat separated from the rest of the group, in that scene. And, once again, they definitely have similar senses of humor. I still wouldn't want them to go canon, just because I don't want any CSI couples to go canon... like ever again (aside from SuperDave and Mrs. SuperDave, though I don't think that really counts), but it is very cute to see a pairing of characters that are so funny. I think they would be more of a cute couple than an angsty couple, which is quite appealing.

Well, I kind of agree on the canon thing. Though it might be nice to see one of them have a dream about the other one (not a dirty dream, just a kissing dream), but that might not be right for this type of show. I also agree about the cute couple versus the angsty one. :)

Haha, I loved tonight's ep. Some subtext thrown in for us Greg/Riley shippers. :D Putting the rest in spoiler code for now
Loved when they were doing the drill and Riley called Greg "Riley" and that was code for their tactics. Then later in the episode when he came in to see if they were okay when R&R were in the basement and Riley called Greg "Riley" again and Greg called her "Sanders". I couldn't help but feel a little flutter that he called her by his last name. Did anyone else think "that could be her last name someday if they got married"? Cause that's what went through my head immediately. Loved that he knew that meant she was in trouble. Then at the end, they were walking pretty closely side by side. After Greg shook Ray's hand, I half expected him to throw his arm casually around Riley's shoulder, but sadly he didn't. Oh well. It was still a great episode.

I am in total agreement. I loved this episode.

They made a great team! First, when Riley called Greg by her name, and then there was more playful banter afterward, with Riley and Greg giving each other hard times for messing up during the drill. They kicked butt working together. Even if they're not a couple, they make a great team. It's like Greg and Sara working together in earlier seasons, but much better, IMO, because it feels like there's more mutual respect and a shared sense of humor. They are totally awesome in scenes together! And I loved Greg helping out in the house. Ooh, I am just being bowled over with fangirl squeeing after this episode.

Can I get rid of the spoiler code now?

One thing I've noticed (while shamelessly re-watching all of the wonderful recent episodes with a plethora of good Greg-Riley scenes) is that the cover caps on CBS.com for two recent episodes, 'Miscarriage of Justice' and 'No Way Out' both have Greg and Riley together, without any other characters. It definitely goes to show how TPTB seem quite inclined toward pairing the two up. And I absolutely loved the name thing last episode. I have to admit that I didn't pay as much attention to the little hints TPTB included earlier on about GSR, but do you think there have been similar hints used for Greg/Riley?

Also, I have to say that I still think we need to give them a new ship name. Grey is just a color that I always associate with being sad and glum, and Greg/Riley seems like such a happy, humorous ship. I still think it was totally awesome how they called each other by each others' names, though by Riley's first name and Greg's last, this episode, so maybe it could be some combination of Riley and Sanders?
So maybe Sandy, Randy, Rilers... Personally, I like Randy. I've heard people calling them Gregley and Griley on FFnet, but I'm not crazy about either of these. Grass (GregRileyAdamsSanderS), Rags (RAxGS) and Grrr (GRegRileyRomance) are the other ones I can think of.

There were a few really cute caps of them together in the Greg photos thread. I especially loved this one (courtesy of Wojo) where they're both egging Ray on to guess that the 482 (think I got the code right) was the code for lunch. They seem like two little kids; two of a kind.

This one (also capped by Wojo) is where Greg realizes something's wrong because Riley called him Riley. And then he responds by calling her Sanders.

I don't like Randy cause that's a word that means horny. Sandy's too close to Sandle, so we probably shouldn't do that... don't want to upset anyone. :)

Me either. I kind of really dislike them both. I mean, if you can't make an actual word out of their names, then maybe the second would be okay, but otherwise... I just usually prefer shipper names to be actual words. But, that's just me. See, with Buffy and Riley on BTVS, seriously what word can you make with those two names? So really the only option you had was Briley, which I hated, but then someone came up with the idea to call them "Peculiar" which had to do with a conversation they had. We could always call Greg/Riley "Hair Pullers". I joke of course. But in Greg/Riley's case, I'd really rather not use "Griley". It just bugs me for some reason.

Riley + Sanders = Risers? or we could do Riders. :D

Sanders + Riley = Sasy? We could actually spell is Sassy since there's an S in Riley's last name. Too bad his last name isn't Saunders cause then we could call them Sausy (like Saucy lol).

Grr is too close to GSR. Rags sounds like a clown's name to me for some strange reason, I don't know why I get that impression though. Grass is another name for a drug, so best to stay away from that one. ;)

I like Risers, Riders and Sassy. Can't decide between them. :D

The only thing I can think of at the moment is Nick asking Greg if Riley was okay in Miscarriage of Justice. It just left me wondering why Nick would ask Greg. Why would he think Greg would know anymore than he would?

That and they both did seem to be worried for each other's safety in No Way Out. The look on her face when he started down the stairs said wonders. She looked like she was thinking "no, I don't want him in potential danger too!" And then his look when he realized the situation.

They definitely do have similiar senses of humor and personalities. They're a good match. :D

What do you think Greg would have done if he'd been taken hostage with Riley instead of Ray and if he saw that boy hit Riley?

Probably more of a reaction than Ray gave.

I liked the little eye-dialogue type thing Riley and Greg had on the stairs. You could tell in her eyes that she was in trouble, and you could tell in his eyes that he knew.

I have always used the name Griley because once upon a time when I wrote fanfiction for Las Vegas, I wrote (Or, rather, began) a story where Nick had a wife and a sister named Riley (Before we ever heard of LLS), and Riley was with Greg. My best friend and I came up with Griley, and I don't know... I like it. =D

I haven't been keeping up with Las Vegas since Grissom left, but I am going to watch the hostage one, and I may start watching it again for the Griley.

I am excited to see this ship play out, even if it does not become canon. It is so much fun picking at the random things. I miss that now that Eric/Calleigh is canon and will miss it even more when Booth/Brennan becomes canon (I analyze EVERYTHING they do or say around each other. It is a little sad.)

(Tciddaisc, I love your signature. Criminal Minds is another of my favorite shows and I love Emily and that quote. My best friend and I crack up every time we see Splanda. "I have a gesture for you...")

Yeah, they definitely communicated with their eyes very well. Her eyes told him "get help". It took him a second, but he realized it pretty quickly.

I wonder if Riley thought Greg looked hot carrying that gun during the drill. Crap... I had a point about that, but I forgot what else I was going to say. Maybe I'll remember it later. :D

Welcome Bryn and Tciddaisc! It's so nice to see more people getting on board for this ship ;)

Lol. I love 'Hair Pullers.' Risers works, I think, though I wouldn't go for Riders just because that makes me think of Nick and Catherine, just because they're the two characters who presumably know how to horseback ride, at least if one goes by the original canon background for Catherine, where she grew up on a farm in Montana (I think I got that right).

I love Sasy, but I'm fairly certain that Sassy is already the ship name for Sara/Sofia.

As to hints about them, I definitely agree with GNRFan that about Greg calling Riley 'Sanders.' I didn't pay very much attention to the GSR build-up, and have only heard about it from other shippers. The biggest similarity (other than pretty much everything about the last episode, which I saw as an altogether great episode for the two) was that Greg and Riley have worked together a lot, and that her most memorable scene with a teammate in her first case, IMO, was going to save the kid with Greg. I thought it was especially interesting because ordinarily I would have expected her to be paired up with another more experienced CSI, since Greg was, presumably, still a CSI 2 as well and I don't think Riley would have passed the proficiencies Grissom mentioned that episode yet.

I thought Grass still worked well, because I think of grass (at least the stuff on the ground) as being happy and green. I always associate it with sunny skies and beautiful days. That said, as drugs go, I thought it was an interesting connection because of Riley's comment to Catherine in Riley's first episode after finding weed. I can't remember what the exact line was, but it prompted some eyebrow raising from Cath, and Riley then commented that she always kept spare urine in her locker for mandated drug tests. I definitely couldn't help thinking, in that scene, of the time that Greg recited quite humorously every name for marijuana he could think of. I thought it made an interesting parallel. While drugs are definitely bad, I thought that that parallel also spoke to the fact that they both come off as more laid-back noncomformists who are more inclined to skirt rules and danger for the sake of (sometimes stupid) fun. Of all of the characters, they are the two that I would most expect to have done some very crazy stuff in college.

The eye stuff was awesome. They're already getting cute nonverbal communication. I loved how they could help each other out without having to say much. Like a little signal system, and they're the only two who use it.

I have always used the name Griley because once upon a time when I wrote fanfiction for Las Vegas, I wrote (Or, rather, began) a story where Nick had a wife and a sister named Riley (Before we ever heard of LLS), and Riley was with Greg. You wrote a Greg/Riley fic before Riley was even there?! That's awesome ;) I must go find it, even if it's not the same Riley. Excellent foreshadowing ;)

LOL. I would definitely have had that reaction. And seeing his pretty muscles. Maybe that's the real reason she missed her shot. She was too distracted by the arm porn.

I was distracted by his arm porn too. I would not blame her.

So many different nicknames to pick for them. I sort of like Hair Pullers. It is cute and funny.

I really do like them together. She definitely brings out his humorous side a lot more again. I love how they tease each other. I do not know if I would like to see them become canon, but a part of me just wants to see Greg have an actual date at some point with someone. Seems like he has not social life outside of work.

I like the idea of them together, but I wouldn't want them canon any time soon. For a few reasons, one being that I don't want Riley considered a "love interest character". You know what I mean.

I do love their teasing. It brought back the humor that has been missing quite a lot, with Emo!Sara last season and Emo!Grissom this season.

Oh, I definitely agree that they shouldn't go canon anytime soon. Maybe after a couple of seasons. Mostly, I love just the subtext alone. Finding those little things that mean nothing to a non-shipper, but everything to my shipper heart. :D

Random thought: Okay, we got sad stuff at the beginning of the season (Warrick's death, Grissom leaving, etc), but I thought about how Greg could be thinking "but, that led to us getting Riley"... so it's the Silver lining. :D

You know, I actually suggested "Hair Pullers" (for a ship name) as a joke, but the more I think about it, the more it grows on me.

My story is called... um.... Oh, okay. 'Nick Stokes, Family Man'. Haha. I think it has a whole two chapters. Wow. I actually ahd the whole thing planned out, but it was too much to write and my attention span just didn't cooperate.

Hair Pullers is awesome, too.

Is the episode where Greg calls her Sanders and when Nick asked Greg if she was okay the one where they are taken hostage? Because I have to watch it tomorrow, then. =]

The one where Nick asks Greg if Riley is okay is "Miscarriage of Justice". The one where Greg calls Riley "Sanders" is "Now Way Out".

I can't believe we have to wait till next month to see new Greg/Riley interaction. And people wonder why I hate sports so much.
