I don't want a scene like that... I don't want Gil to leave... *Crys* He had better tell Cath that he's leaving or I will freak, they also had better have a leaving parety for he, well even just a scene with him and Cath alone, telling her, he's leaving, I'd settle for that... But seriously, he can't pull a Sara on us, and just leave without telling anyone...

I think it would be a very interesting conversation - he'd be trying to explain and I think Catherine would be confused and maybe a little hurt.

Then again, it all depends on his motivations for leaving.

Yeah, I think it'll be a big blow to Catherine to find out he's leaving. I mean, the only man she could depend on is leaving. I would prefer a scene with just Gil and Cath instead of everybody else. I just think it would be more emotional and meaningful if it's just them two. I really don't think they can just avoid a scene along these lines and how this will effect Cath and Gil's relationship....at least, I hope they don't avoid it.

Yeah, I think she will be disappointed. I could just see her saying something like "You know, Gil... I always thought I could depend on you. You were always the one man in my life that I could depend on... that is until Sara Sidle walked back into your life!" And then she'd walk out really hurt and with tears in her eyes.

Yeah I agree, poor Cath, the only person she's going to have left in her life, that she can depend upon, is Nick... She's already going to upset about Warrick leaving, but with Gil, it's going to be a much bigger blow, her best friend of over 20 years is leaving her... I think there will be tears... This is something, I'm really not looking forward to.

Um...I've been away from this world for a while, busy preparing a visa and everything. But I suddenly hear that Grissom will be leaving in about the 10th episode.....WHAT?!?!!

I mean..I understand Billy's wanting to move on to new things (obviously. After all, it has been 9 years of the same stuff) but couldn't he at least finish this season? I dunno, I think it might be more dramatic if he leaves with the Season Finale or so. It's just an iffy ending.

I wonder what's going to happen with our ship in that case. I hear old ghosts may be reappearing and maybe that starts off the whole chain? I've finally lost all hope for things....

I know, it's bad news for all of us. I swear I shut right down when I heard the news. I don't deal with unexpected change too well. I just hope that there will at least be closure between Gil and Cath... they are best friends after all and it doesn't make sense to ingore their history together. Despite whatever happens, you can't deny that they have amazing chemistry and I don't think that's gonna die out. I really think they're gonna remain a big part of each other's life, no matter what.

^Oh, I agree. I just feel like the wind has been knocked out of me *sighs*....all this really sucks. It would be crazy to not have some kind of closure with the long history they have. I mean, above all, their friendship has to stay intact after 20+ years. Something like they share together just doesn't go away. I also think that they'll keep in touch cause it just seems like the natural thing to do.

I thought I'd let all of you know I'm heading off for a little vacation to the beach and I'll be gone for about a week, so don't think I've abandoned you guys. You all try not to have too much fun without me.

I totally agree with you, I just hope that we're going to be shown, that they are still a big part of eachothers lives, I hope it's not just left without him being mentioned, cause that would make his leaving so much worse, I just hope that he is mentioned plenty by Cath, and that maybe when he comes back every now and again, that we'll get some cute scenes between them... Surely that's not too much to ask... Is it?

No it's not too much to ask for... Gil and Cath are best friends, like I've said so many times before, so it would be pointless for them to cut off all communication. Not to mention that Gil was there from the beginning, so of course the lab's still gonna mention him. I would like to see Cath muse about what Gil would say about bizzare aspects of some cases though... that way, we still have his voice, even if it is expressed by her.

I say lets move on from the doldrums of this news, and instead look to the better parts of GC - and seriously, how AWESOME is their future going to be? Before, there would have been a few sticky problems with them working together and being in a relationship, now they can be open about it

So here's a question I've always wondered about. Considering the type of people they both are, do you think they would actually marry each other, or would they just be in a longterm relationship (like Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell). And if you think they WOULD get married, how would they do it? Big blowout? Small intimate gathering? Church? Registry office?

Well, I think they would get married, but I think it would be something very low key, just them, Lindsey and the team... I think Gil might take her on holiday and get married on some romantic little Island... Awww, that would be so cute... I don't think they want to make a big show out of it, especially Gil, cause he's such a private person, he'd want a low key wedding, with just family and close friends.

Awww I was away for a few days and everyone has gotten really depressed?

You know what? Despite that it's a loss to have Billy leave the show, I don't really see it as bad news for us PureJoy fans. I know some people won't like what I'm going to say, but to me, Gil's departure will actually open a door for PureJoy. Let's face it, even if Billy stayed, the chance of TPTB have Gil leave whoever he's with now and get together with Catherine is tiny. Although it seems that he is going to leave with someone that's not Catherine, what happens after that is left to our imagination and we won't need to adjust anything to the canon in our fics anymore. I also have to say that the Gil Grissom in the past two seasons wasn't really the man I used to like so much in the early seasons, and the general quality of the show has been going down for a while. I sort of hope the change (Gil's departure, new characters) will bring a fresh new start to the show and help it regain the nice chemistry between the characters that had made it the great show it once was. Of course it will never be the same without Gil, but changes aren't always bad.

And if we're lucky, we'll probably be rid of a ship we don't like for good. Not a bad thing, is it?

Anne, your question is hard to answer. lol. I think both are possible. I don't think they need an official document or a wedding to prove anything, but then again, they'd probably get married just because. lol.

*raises hand* I agree... I can see Gil and Cath getting married and having a small ceremony with just close friends and family. But then again, they have been together for over twenty years and they have pretty much been through it all, which is almost unheared of, so they wouldn't need a wedding certificate to authenticate it. Plus, both of them are somewhat unconventional, so I don't think not being married will stop them from being a couple and having a family, because instead of being husband and wife, they are partners through and through.
