Gas..How Much are you paying???

I still laugh at posts where is "3somebucks. Outageous!"
Gee....yeah, it's still half LESS than in Europe

But it's always about what we are used to.

I just asked my dad how much tax we pay on gas, and he said it's like 75%! Outrageous!

Same that here in the 90s :D

Ah, someone made a HUGE mistake in the papers then. There was a list of tax on gas in Europe and Finland was 64% tax and somehow Britain had a higher tax than Finland at 65%. I was like "Eh, that can't be right.." cos Finland have a much higher prices on gas.

Yeah, it has a lot to do with what you're used to. ;) It just seems like we're paying a lot because we're used to paying way less. It would be like if it went up to $3/litre for you guys.

i was reading the petrol book when we got the car petrol was only 99c a litre. last week it was $1.56c a litre, today it dropped to $1.54c a litre

At the minute everyone is going crazy about the gas prices (over a pound a litre, similar to France actually), so much so that fuel blockades and protests will probably start on Wednesday here in the UK so everyone at the minute is panic buying, :( the petrol station beside where I live has the largest queues ever, my mum was in it for nearly an hour but had to just leave it coz she was running late. Its total madness, Gordon Brown sucks, hurry up chancellor of the Exchequer and stop putting so much tax on the.... well tax !! Oh and regarding what some of you guys were talking about earlier, recently I read in a newspaper article that Britain used to be known as "rip off Britain" but infact its been overtaken by countries such as Finland, Norway and the Netherlands etc. Its still expensive, but the Scandanavian countries are getting just as expensive to live in.......its disgraceful !

That we Nordic countries are :D (Finland isn't in Scandinavia, just for the record and yes I know usually outsiders mix Scandinavia and Nordic Countries) Norway is actually a damn expensive country. With gasprices, Sweden and Norway has always been ahead of us :p I remember one family driving to Norway and their dad had refused to buy gasoline in Norway because it was so much more expensive
Norway is oddball *hides from Siri* since it's very rich country (one of the richest in the world) and they've been smart enough not to join EU :p

I don't know about other Nordic countries, but with high taxes we get great, free and equal education for everyone. And healthcare system. In Sweden, I've heard that state helps people to get computers (they have some strange computer-to-every-home principle, they are also so much ahead with broadbands and all)

So, isn't that terrible that other countries start to be more expensive than your country :p

But see, with some taxes... it's bad for country next to you if other changes taxes. See, Finns drink lots of alcohol (doh!) and because our leaders were afraid that we start to travel more to Estonia, when it joins EU because you can bring more taxfree alcohol (same with Sweden) so they reduced alcohol tax. (that reminds me that I should make little trip to Stockholm or Talling soon :D )They hoped it wouldn't meant that people would start to drink more (LOL! We just started to buy more stronger alcohol) Well, then Swedes start to whine at us that now they have to reduce it as well
Of course Swedes made comment "Here people wouln't start to buy more, unlike Finns"

Anyways...with gasoline. It's funny how they can rise it a lot in one night, but it takes month to get it back to same where it was before rising  even world would have been stabil for quite a while.

No need to hide, Sanna :p
For e.g we get free medical care at the hospital because of our high taxes. We get lots of other grat things too, so we don't have anything to complain about really.

Whee, there's a lot of queues around the garages here, I think the petrol will run out very soon here when wednesday comes. And there is also the prices are to set to rise in the next few days. It's freaking nuts. :p

Just one thing that bothers me, it has always been less than a pound here so it never needed the fourth space on the billboard and it's set to go over the pound. How is it going to fit on it when it goes over the pound?! Sorry, a lot of time on my hands.
