Film Feature: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest

Re: Film Feature: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest

I am going to see it tomorrow in the cinema - can't wait!!! :D :D :D The only thing is that I can't resist spoilers and I just had to read Laetri's spoiler!! Argh I hate myself!

Re: Film Feature: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest

I can't wait until POTC3 comes out!

The thing is however, Jack doesn't die, all you see is the Kraken go in for the kill but you don't see it, and the way Jack looked defiant there....makes me wonder. PLUS, they can't do PIRATES of the Caribbean without PIRATE Captain Jack Sparrow. So keep hope. :D

I so loved this movie. It was great. I know people are kind of upset over the Jack/Elizabeth -- all in all, though, it only added to the movie (plus, I've been a shipper since the first movie, so of course I liked it.) The action was great, not to mention the special effects. Davy Jones = amazing.

well of COURSE he is going to be in PotC3 they already filmed most of it I think, and he is listed on the cast list on IMDb. That does not guaruntee he is alive. He may be but poor Jack is in the belly of that evil monster. WBJIITBOAEM (Weep because jack is in the belly of an evil monster) doesnt have the same ring to it as WBJD .

Re: Film Feature: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest

Hmm, I've listened to the soundtrack a few times now, and I have to say I had a bit of a shock when I first listened to it - it didn't sound as good in the movie! (or maybe I just wasn't paying close enough attention to the soundtrack in the cinema ) It's much better off a CD, in my opinion, and the more I listen to it, the more it is growing on me.

It's much darker than the first soundtrack, and it's hard not to compare the two. But I think on it's own, Hans Zimmer has done a good job of the sequel's soundtrack (though not as good as his other stuff, like Gladiator and The Last Samuari), though if you compare it to the first one, I think the first one comes out tops for me. I just like it better somehow, maybe because it is more upbeat and adventurous, and not as dark.

By far my favourite track from the new one has to be 'The Kraken', though I also like 'Jack Sparrow', 'Davy Jones', 'You Look Good Jack' and 'Hello Beastie'. The others are a bit too similar to the first one with not much new in them, or just don't suit the mood of DMC somehow, specifically I mean 'Dinner Is Served' and 'Two Hornpipes'.

Oh, and 'Tia Dalma' I also like :D

Anyone else got the soundtrack yet?

Re: Film Feature: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest

*sticks hand up* Ooh yes, I have. I brought it earlier in the week. Admittedly I've only listened to the first 5 songs, I really love 'The Kraken' and 'Jack Sparrow'. :) My thoughts are actually the complete opposite to yours wibbs!  I remember thinking the soundtrack CD sounded better than the film, I don't remember the music being as good in the film.

Do you have the remix of 'He's A Pirate' on your CD?

I think that's what I was saying in my original post, but my wording may have been a bit confused  I agree, the soundtrack CD is much better than the film. I don't know what an earth they did with the soundtrack when they put it to the film

OMG, yes! Lmao! The first time I heard it, I was like 'WTH?' But now I've listened to a it a few times, I think I quite like it to have a boogie around to

*hides*

 Sorry, you explained it perfectly well, it's just me. I blame the heat, seriously, my brain is fried at the moment, I'm not equipped to handling high heat and holding my concentration.

 I know, when I brought the soundtrack I started off listening to the first track 'Jack Sparrow', I left my room and left the CD playing - totally forgot about it, came back upstairs about 40 minutes later and was like 'what the hell is that!' It seemed so out of place. But, it is a fab song. It's nice to hear Jack say 'Where did you get that' at the beginning.

I was originally in two minds whether to buy this soundtrack, I didn't think it would be half as good as the first one. I’m so pleased I took the plunge and did buy it, it is really good. :D

Re: Film Feature: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest

SSS, I think I was doing the same during that scene too!

Oohh Tink, I had a thought about that remix of 'He's A Pirate'. What if they actually used it in the first movie, during a fight scene or something? Lmao, can you imagine sat in the cinema watching Curse of the Black Pearl, and all of a sudden, this track starts up when Will and Jack start fighting in the blacksmiths? OMG! *dies*

This track keeps making me giggle every time I listen to, especially all the sword noises they've put in there towards the beginning, and Norrington's line 'On your feet!' right at the start. Though I must say that's very approriate considering it's a dance track
