Re: Film Feature: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
Hmm, I've listened to the soundtrack a few times now, and I have to say I had a bit of a shock when I first listened to it - it didn't sound as good in the movie!
(or maybe I just wasn't paying close enough attention to the soundtrack in the cinema :lol
It's much better off a CD, in my opinion, and the more I listen to it, the more it is growing on me.
It's much darker than the first soundtrack, and it's hard not to compare the two. But I think on it's own, Hans Zimmer has done a good job of the sequel's soundtrack (though not as good as his other stuff, like Gladiator and The Last Samuari), though if you compare it to the first one, I think the first one comes out tops for me. I just like it better somehow, maybe because it is more upbeat and adventurous, and not as dark.
By far my favourite track from the new one has to be 'The Kraken', though I also like 'Jack Sparrow', 'Davy Jones', 'You Look Good Jack' and 'Hello Beastie'. The others are a bit too similar to the first one with not much new in them, or just don't suit the mood of DMC somehow, specifically I mean 'Dinner Is Served' and 'Two Hornpipes'.
Oh, and 'Tia Dalma' I also like
Anyone else got the soundtrack yet?
