Re: Eric and Calleigh #35
Are we willing to say a permanent "goodbye" to either Eric or Calleigh at the end of season 7 if it means the ship would "survive" (meaning the writers make it obvious that they stay together "off-camera" after one of them leaves)? What about a temporary "goodbye" like what happened with Ryan?
If you're not comfortable with either of them leaving for any length of time at the end of season 7, what about at the end of season 8 (again, so long as the ship is guaranteed to survive "off-camera")?
Temporary goodbye is something I could deal with. Like that's what I have a feeling would happen at the end of the season anyway. Like their relationship gets found out and one of them has to switch shifts
JoannaRose897, I LOVE your avatar, btw!!
Oh, no way am I comfortable. I think that it won't be permanent if the writers listen to Emily and serve the fans to keep this going. I can't see them parting. If they do, I’m hoping it will only be temporary because I could see Horatio fighting for them to stay on his team. They just gave us this taste and now the thought of them taking it away just makes me ill.
Ryan's situation was different because it happened almost at the end of the season and we saw him here and there. I dont know but I can't see that happening to two of the main characters of the show.
I read the actor's contracts are up at the end of this season but I'm sure they know whats best for the ratings. Who knows, maybe the cliff at the end of season 8 will be just that, but I would like them to keep this going at least throughout season 8 so we can see the trials they go through as a couple to stay together.
If the writers are careful, they could do the whole thing realistically with anger and avoidance followed by tentative civility, then slowly ease them back into a working relationship and rebuild the friendship. And then they could realize what they threw away and eventually get back together and we would have amazingness all over again!
That’s an idea. You never know…I would rather this happen if it comes down to a decision. I just can’t fathom the thought of them getting to that point though. I would feel heartbroken for them. For some reason, watching them from the beginning to this point literally exhausted my thoughts because I wanted this for so long. Its funny how you start to care for characters as if they were real but you start feeling like they’re part of your life and you want nothing but the best for them. If it doesn’t work out, you hurt, like they hurt. I don’t know if this sounds a bit stalker-ish, but I think you get the point I’m making.
Nothing on the finale yet....we have one more ep (724) to get spoilers on first before we get the ones for the finale. I am thinking we should see spoilers for ep 724 either Tuesday or Weds of this coming week. So then probably the following week we will see the spoilers for the finale!
I can’t believe yet another season is a few episodes away from finished! I am so excited for season 8 and going forward. I hope they continue to play out the personal lives of the characters, as well as give us the continued mystery and suspense that makes CSI Miami stand alone. Ive tried to watch the other CSI’s but for some reason, don’t really get too interested in them like I do with CSI Miami. To me, there is no comparison. Lots of Calleigh and Eric help too.
Did people around here want more integration of the team (like Eric and Cal working more cases together, Cal and Horatio sharing more scenes, Ryan and Eric bonding or at least working cases together, etc.) or did it all just go on without much fuss?
I think in season 4, the pairings were done for a reason. Calleigh was sort of a mentor for Ryan so, they did have a lot scenes together. (Secretly in the back of my mind, I think the writers played with pairing Ryan and Calleigh up, since Delko was with Natalia, but that didn’t work). Calleigh’s character started distancing from Eric’s but that wouldn’t have given way for their relationship to build in season 5 and then on in season 6. Season 4 showed that Eric resented Ryan for his smart mouth, because he was Speed’s replacement, and Ryan’s lack of experience. Maybe the characters were doing their own thing that season, but they all eventually grew a strong bond with each other on some level, especially after Marisol was killed and even more after Eric was shot.
Ther first 2 seasons were amazing.. but there were less people in the team. Just Eric, Speedle, Calleigh, and of course Horatio. But the way they all worked together back then was so good.
You’re right about the 1st season post Megan and season 2. They were great and they did work together. Season 3 was ok, but season 4, end of 5 through 7 are my favorites.
Sorry for all the responses, but trying to keep it all together. You all ask a lot of good questions!
