In my humble opinion Eric needs to walk up to Calleigh and just kiss her until she's breathless. There would be no need for him to try to articulate and she would have no doubts about how he feels. Problem Solved :p

I would LOVE to see that.:)

I've watched the clips of those two scenes again and again and here's what I noticed...

1. When Eric told her how much her friendship meant to him and she said she never knew how he felt, I wondered to myself if that was her trying to get him to TELL her verbally how he really felt, beyond friendship. Or, when he said "friendship", did he really mean more than that but couldn't say it, and she knew it.... so that's why she said she didn't know he felt that way. I think she was looking for him to tell her more... and he didn't, and couldn't due to Tripp. I think this is further evidenced by the fact that Eric said she had to know because she read his file. She already knows he values their friendship, I think the depth of their friendship tells each of them that... but what his file divulged was the depth of his feelings for her, not friendship but love.

2. LOVED the look on Eric's face when Tripp walked up to them. He was clearly disappointed at the intrusion, like he wanted to continue talking. He even looked at Calleigh again with that puppy dog look on his face after they stood up.

3. After Calleigh handed Eric the file in the 2nd scene, she stood there with a look on her face like she wanted him to say something, and darn it he only apologized for the conversation. And yet again when she gave him a CLEAR opening to tell her... he didn't.

Poor guy, I see Audrey's point as to why he didn't. He's scared to. Scared of getting his heart stomped on again.

I so can't wait for 7.14, and darn it i'm going to be out of town again without access to my DVR for instant re-watching of important scenes afterward.

I agree with everything you just said. I especially liked this part:

I've always thought that was what made her "decide" to be with Jake at that moment (aside from the comfort, I already know how this goes part). He was sure of what to do and he did it. So it was easier for her to just go along with it. It became pretty clear from monday that she doesn't take first steps on this kind of stuff. All this time, even knowing from the file how Eric felt, she has been waiting for him to say something (or do something that will leave no doubt in her mind about how he feels, like a kiss). She flirts, gazes and whatever but that big step she waits for. It is understandable since we can say that most women want the guy to be the conversation/kiss starter, so it's not that hard to comprehend. Add to that the fact that this is CALLEIGH.

As for what was written in the file it is my opinion that since we can't read the file and it had a lot more that what we could dissect, Eric's voice was a way of the writers letting the public know what exactly Calleigh was reading. So that's what I've always thought she did read that. It is way too complicated for the audience to hear something as she's reading it but then to conclude that even though he said that the therapist wrote something else, and so Cal read something we have to dissect the screencap to know. Just my opinion.

 I like how you think. Oh, you know what, maybe the fire won't be the reason for her breathing problems, but maybe Eric kissing her till she's breathless could be. I know for sure I'd like to see that.

I can't imagine that in the middle of a lobby among set of people he starts to tell her "what he wants".

It's weird that she expected something like that from him. I mean, I could actually imagine Eric telling her everything in the middle of the lab, but I can't believe that Calleigh is willing to talk about personal issues in public. Maybe she's finally opening up.

Audrey, don't worry we won't throw anything at you... It's very hard for me to take sides, because I can understand them both. We'll just have to wait and see what happens in the future epis. Talking about future episodes, what are the chances of getting a hiphugger moment next Monday?

If Eric sees Calleigh with that guy it could make him angry enough to start yelling at Calleigh and furiously tell her everything he wants, feels and thinks... And then they could look at each other for a few seconds and pounce at each other and rip the clothes off of each other... Okay, I'm gonna stop now.

Just a quick comment about what Calleigh read in his file, because its obviously become very important. Remember, we saw all the patients' comments on the screen, but that was not necessarily what Dr. Marsh's notes said. Back when the ep aired, I know someone managed to get a decent screencap of Eric's file and pulled as much of the text as they could, and it was all stuff about Calleigh being there for him, and keeping him steady, etc. etc. but nowhere in the screencap was the phrase we saw on the screen and in Eric's voice. So we know for sure that she should know she's very important to Eric, and that she's pivotal in his life, but we DON'T know for sure that she knows he wants to settle down with her. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm farily certain that WASN'T in what we saw of his actual file. Her look of surprise in that scene can easily be explained by the fact that there's an entire paragraph about her in his therpaists' file, and she probably didn't realize she was as important to him as she was.
Exactly. While I don't doubt that there was something about Eric's growing affection for Calleigh in there - I mean, if it was important enough for him to say out loud, and with such a reverent tone of voice like we heard him saying it in, I don't see Dr. Marsh letting it go without as much of a note about it, maybe just something like "seems to be developing deeper feelings for his coworker and friend," that kind of thing. However, we didn't see that on the paper, and neither did Calleigh, if I remember correctly. There may have been something further down the page or on a different page and I strongly believe there had to have been, but Calleigh didn't get to it before Eric interrupted her.

Still doesn't mean I'm letting Calleigh off the hook for not being sure what Eric wants, because he told her point-blank that if it were a choice between his job and her, it would be her, no question ("If it were me, I would've transferred to the night shift."). He basically told her that he would be lost if something would've happened to her (All In). She has acknowledged to him that she knows he has feelings for her. I know I'm confused at this point, lol, but I'm not entirely sure that I buy that Calleigh can be as confused as she says she is.

But then again, Jake was confusing to her - she never knew if he was going to be there for her or not. Peter Elliot seemingly hurt her by making her think he wanted something while he was actually engaged - more confusion. And then we don't even have to talk about how Hagen screwed her up. I guess I can see how Calleigh would need a definitive answer from Eric - she's never gotten one from anybody else in her life. :(

You know, the more I go back and watch those scenes, the more I think that they are each afraid of getting hurt. Eric, by Calleigh's possible rejection and Calleigh doesn't want to add to her laundry list of men who have disappointed and hurt her. I so very much wish we could get the actors' opinions on what they see and hear what they've been directed to do. That would be the coolest insight.

OK, here goes.... first post so I'm a wee bit nervous! I couldn't however allow such an important EC moment to go by without finally pulling my finger out and registering on this forum. It's taken me til now (Wednesday night)to actually pluck up the courage to go on YouTube and watch this episode, as I did not want my optimistic hiphugger hopes dashed by zero EC interaction and the creative editing that is so often applied to the CSI Miami promos! Anyhow.... I can't believe that for once I was not disappointed. OK, so we didn't get an absolute declaration of undying love (not that I seriously expected anything of the kind - we know how much the writers like to torture us with what if's and maybe's where Calleigh and Eric are concerned), but we did get progress and most importantly hope!!! It made me warm all over! :)

Well, welcome to the epitome of (obsessive) shipping! (We need a strikeout option on these boards... it'd be so much easier to tease/be sarcastic about things.) Glad you came around to posting, White Rose.

I wasn't expecting anything in terms of E/C in this episode, mostly because they were in the promo. Then again, I'm so used to my Flack/Angell and Wendy/Hodges ships that I've come to accept that promos hate me. Hopefully we'll get more... not necessarily productive, more, I don't know, shippery? Is that... not a word. Oh well. You get what I mean. XD

Well welcome to the Mad House, White Rose. We're glad that you finally quit lurking and came out to join us. We are slightly obsessive-compulsive about our favorite couple, Eric and Calleigh, so all new insights are welcomed.:p

If you have any questions or if you need anything please don't hesitate to ask. :)

*Climbs on Soapbox*

Please be patient, I have been thinking about this since Monday (not a good thing since I tend to obsess about "stuff"), and I decided that I really need to say it. :)

Okay, I'm going to defend Eric's behavior on Monday night. It was definetely not his best hour; this was not the smooth Delko from past seasons, but in his defense (Yes, I totally love the "New and Improved" Eric Delko. He's every woman's dream man.), he has become a totally different person in the last two years.

(Before you start throwing things at me please remember that I love Calleigh to death)

Eric knows that Calleigh has issues with getting close to people, and he has been trying to take it slow so as to not alarm her. In season 5, after the shooting, he had finally gotten to the point where he could try to tell her how he felt. In Born To Kill he finally tried to tell Calleigh and what did she do? She told him that they work together, and oh "you know I trust you with my life. I don't know how I feel about Jake yet."

After watching CSI Miami for all of these years and really dissecting these characters more than I should, I decded that Calleigh doesn't care too much for change. She likes emotion to be simple and easy to compartmentalize. That's why she chose not to finish the conversation with Eric and get to the bottom of their feelings for each other Instead she gave into her fear of getting close to someone and ran from her burgeoning feelings for Eric and straight to her past - Jake. She kissed him right in front of Eric; hell, she even went to Antigua with Jake.

After all that, why on earth would he want to put his heart right out there to be trampled on? He has been there for Calleigh when no one, and I mean no one, else was. (Stand Your Ground)

After last season's tap dance around how they feel about each other we finally get confirmation of Eric's feelings in the form of his therapist's file.

Damn Calleigh, you read the file. He stated that he wanted to settle down with you. What more do you need to force you to let go of that famous self control?

Eric even asked her directly if she read the file. Rather than give him a direct answer she evaded once again. She's pretty good at that.

After all of that evasion he was was taken aback by Calleigh's sudden insistence on hearing EXACTLY what he wants from her. Well damn! I don't blame him for being a bit startled; she has spent so much time deflecting his questions and being evasive when he tries to talk to her that he was a bit surprised at how...um...aggressive she decided to get.

In my humble opinion Eric needs to walk up to Calleigh and just kiss her until she's breathless. There would be no need for him to try to articulate and she would have no doubts about how he feels. Problem Solved :p

Just my opinion...

*Climbs off Soapbox*

Sorry this was so long and disjointed. Like I said, I've been thinking about this since the episode aired...;)

Climb on the soap box all you want girl!! I totally agree with ya!

My opinion, after having days to think about it, is that both of them are to blame about how that whole situation went. She was a little pushy in demanding, out of the blue no less, to know how he felt when he has no idea how she feels at all. She read his file so she has the upper hand and she used it to her advantage. Should he and could he have said something, yes.

This is typcial and classic Calleigh. She did a dump and run. She dumped everything on him and then ran! I love Calleigh and to be honest you have to admit it was pretty ingenius of her to do it, b/c it bought her some time to get away ;) But who is she to dump it all on him like that? How can you expect someone to tell you how they feel and take a huge risk when they have no idea how you feel?

In the end, they are both scared b/c neither wants to be the one to make the first move or be the first to say something b/c they are afraid the other's reaction will be negative.

next week is Cal doing some unattached fliriting with a guy she wll probably never see again....she will like the attention and have fun with it. Eric wil get annoyed and maybe a part of her knows that it will bother him and she has hope that it will spur him on. Of course it probably won't in that ep but then we have 714 where maybe BOTH of them come to some realizations about them. I don't know how much Alexx will say to them, if anything, but I can picture her maybe picking up on tension that there might be between them and asking one of them what the hell it is all about.

Welcome White Rose to our little, yes growing, corner of the board! ;)

Hey our group is getting bigger by the minute, welcome White Rose :).

We've been talking about 7.14 and 7.16 but do we have anything for 7.15? Don't get me wrong, I'm totally happy with what we got in 7.12 and with what we've been getting for the other two but I'm just curious.

I love how this episode has generated all of this discussion. We really needed this after half a season of not so much.

hey well stretching out the hiphuggin love a little further to australia every week i download the eps as were still in s6 but monday nights ep was the most happiest ive been all week.
I loved when eric rolled his lip and kind of a here it goes now or never moment right before he said your friendship means alot to me calleigh and damn you frank and then i absolutley loved where he said "what if i dont want to" i so hope the hospital stuff will take them to another huge step and yes i would love to hear the actors point of view too anyways adios ladies bel

I spent so much time obsessing over these characters I think I am going to have to get psychological help. LOL

I have watched and rewatched the scenes about 10 times and still come to the same conclusion. They are afraid of messing up what they have which is why I think Eric didn't say anything. Admitting it to her makes it real and he is afraid that she won't return his affections. (How she could not is beyond me, he is absolutely gorgeous)
If these two don't jump each other soon I am gonna go even more crazy that I already am.

Trust me, I am already there!!! My brain has turned into a huge jumble of images, words with the occasional coherent E/C thought thrown in....it is like pea soup!

Well, I think it is time that we actually gave the writers of this show some credit. I mean they have wow'ed us, WTF'ed us, and now, we are all crazy b/c of them :D. They have pretty much run us through the gambit of emotions.

In all honesty, we dump on the writers all the time for not having continuity, the outlandishness they almost always give us; but I gotta say they have surprised me (to say the least) in good way with what they did on Monday. TV romances have become pretty predictable....and I don't think anyone predicted THAT was going to happen. So kudos to the writers for still keeping us on our toes where these two are concerned.

I'm off to Walmart to get my psych degree. I hear they are really cheap there! ;)

Hey delkolover, pick me up one too...I'll send you a check...:guffaw:

You are right, we do have to give it up to the writers. They really surprised me with this last episode. I had no clue what was coming until I saw the promo and even then I didn't want to get my hopes up about Eric and Calleigh only to be sorely disappointed yet again, which I was not.

Now I have to wait patiently until 7x14 and I am hoping that it is every bit as excellent as I have built up in my head and in our discussions.
