Yea, I'm totally confused about Ryan's rationale for lying - How did he think his lying going to protect the lab? I mean, they're going to have to review all his cases now - this isn't like what Eric did when he decided to "settle" the lawsuit against him for the sake of the lab.
You know what, though, I'm sick of Eric being a "martyr" and Ryan being the "punching bag" - these writers had it in for Ryan since Season 4.
Overall, I just think Horatio didn't care enough to press Ryan about it - He was just like, "This is your last chance..." He could've said, "If you're tryin to protect the lab, it's not gonna work out..." It was like an interrogation - with Eric, Horatio was personal with him, and of course Eric had "noble" intentions, b/c he's the golden child. (OK, no offense to Delko, I like him, but seriously, do his intentions always have to be so pure?)
I just think Ryan was always treated like a step-child on the show, and was only ever really accepted by Calleigh. I think if Cal caught wind of this, Ryan may have opened up to her and she could've given him good advice. In Death Pool 100, he came clean w/her (after some major incriminating evidence, but still, H had that too).
I just think H didn't really care in the end - and that look said it all. Looks like he may have even "ratted him out" to Stetler.
I think what I wanted was an intense scene where Horatio fires him - it all seemed so anti-climatic. Who knows, maybe they'll find Ryan six months from now as a crispy DB at a crime scene, and everyone will feel sad...(yea, that's a reference to CSI:NY, not like the writers haven't been recycling material lately...)
