Episode #522 'Burned' ***CONTAINS SPOILERS***

it is illegal very often and the fact that he paid off someone that they were investigating complicated matters i think. it never looks good when you are a cop and you are seen exchanging a big enveloppe full of cash...and to think that all his cases are going to be reopened....

According to Florida gambling laws:

849.08 Gambling.--Whoever plays or engages in any game at cards, keno, roulette, faro or other game of chance, at any place, by any device whatever, for money or other thing of value, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor of the second degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082 or s. 775.083.
There are a few Seminole casinos around Florida that allow gambling, like the one in Hollywood, FL, between Miami and Fort Lauderdale. Also, there are some daytime casino cruises. If Ryan gambled in any of these areas, it would not be illegal.

yay!!! Yelina's back!!! and poor Ryan i just want to give him a hug. i was so sad and upset because all we found out about Ryan is that he's a gambler but we knew that anyways. and uggg, stop the little flirty moments with E/C!!! if they aren't gonna do anything than they should drop it!!! and Ryan looked sexy!!! loved his outfit!!! and I was actually shocked!!! H's one liner was surprisingly good!!! "Next, we catch the killer" for one little moment the old H was shining through, one little brief moment of hope for the old H to come back. and i was upset!! they needed to have more about Ryan's past!!!! but other wise it was a surprisingly good ep!!! and i'm glad it wasn't about really rich people, just sort of average ones.

OK. Let me see if I can get some you to thinking on this gambling business.
Remember at the beginning of season 5 the 100th episode DEATH POOL 100??? In DEATH POOL 100 that huge boat was a floating casino. It had all kind of gambling including the Death Pool...betting on when celebs will kick the bucket. The way that boat got around gambling laws was to stay just outside Miami water. It stayed in part of the ocean that was either unclaimed or international water. Just out of reach of the Florida judicial system. So close and yet so far...you know what I mean??? Remember Calleigh figured out Ryan played the Death Pool on that ship when Agent Elliot told her that 100 dollar bill she had was a counterfeit 100 called a Super Note??? After Agent Elliot told her that, she went and confronted Ryan about it because he gave her the hundred to pay her back for buying his ?neice? a video game of some kind.
Remember the season 3 episode ADDICTION??? In ADDICTION that lady that was murdered was an online gambling addict. She was selling her eggs to a fertility clinic to make money to pay her online gambling debts.
My point is this: maybe Ryan has found another floating casino or has been doing some online gambling but has found some way of gambling. If people want to gamble, they'll find a way. Here in Alabama, there are people that cross state lines in to Tennessee or Georgia to buy lottery tickets. Alot of people, myself and my mom both included, think the lottery is gambling.

I think the big thing here is ethics. I think that's why they fired Ryan. It was so much that he gambled, I think it was more he paid him off during an ongoing investagation while he was a prime suspect.

It's code of ethics. It bascially makes the lab look bad, in a sense. I guess if you saw through the eyes of Stelter, it may have looked like Ryan was paying him off to keep quiet about something or that effect. Or, had the news circuit gotten wind of it, they could made it seem as though Ryan was taking bribes. Plus, if he lied about something as little as that - and hasn't he lied before about the news thing - what else could he be lying about or keeping in the dark?

He put the lab in jepordy even though he thought he was protecting it. He made a bad, immature decision and now it's come back to bite him in the behind.

That's just me, though. I think it was more ethics then it was about the crime. Because if it was about the crime, Stelter would've had him arrested on the spot because, well, as we all know, Stelter is a jerk like that.

^I agree I think it was more b/c he paid the guy off while on duty. Also b/c at the time the guy was a suspect in a murder investigation and it was a conflict of interest. Also the video could be misconstrued as something other than him paying off a gambling debt.

His gambling hasn't effected his work yet but you don't leave an investigation to go pay off a guy who has threatened your career. That is thinking only of yourself and putting evidence and theinvestigation in danger. What if that guy did do it? Then what would have happened?

this was my opinion also, it was ethically wrong to pay someone off while he is under investigation, it could have looked like so many different things. What was Ryam thinking????

Did anyone else notice that we only saw Alexx for .555 seconds? :(

I'll wait until next episode to find out what's going on with Ryan's addiction. I can't form a hypothesis for some reason.

Yes. :( With Yelina back, and her getting a good amount of screen time, i'm not surprised.

Did it seem to anyone else Wolfy boy seemed a little drunk near the end? You know, got fired, went to go drown his worries...?

Is it just me, or did Ryan seem somewhat drunk in the end? Like after he had the conversation with Horatio he went and kicked back a few beers?

 No Lora, it wasn't just you. :)

Oh. Didn't see that. Heh heh. :D But it seemed like it so much. It would of been better if they made it more noticble. Like alot more. I know i laughed so much at it though, seeing him get drunk in my head.

Could it be possible that Horatio is going to get Ryan to join Yelina as a PI? It would make Horatio feel better knowing that someone is with her.

I still don't like Stetler he's got those beady eyes.

I don't know, *I remember hearing Ryan say to stetler that what he did he did for the Lab*. I'm thinking he's working undercover for "H", and it has to with that news girl that he used to date. I think she had something on the lab and threatened to air it. It just seems funny why he would tell Stetler that, and then end up in the news room

in the preview for the next epi,
we know he is doing a new job and he is going to be trouble for the lad it seems...i find that too bad really
Edited to add Spoiler Code

Oh geez again just when I was starting to warm up to the guy. *shakes head in disguist*

I wish that CBS would get the overvoice right on the scenes for next weeks episodes. They screwed up the CSI: Miami one and did the same thing on CSI.
