"Dog Eat Dog" Discussion **Beware Spoilers**

this episode seemed so much more layed back and funny. it was great though. well.. i think all episodes are great so if you're looking for a tough critic find someone else!

Hodges and the hamster scene was priceless.
Sara:How much did your mother hate them?

the dogs were very cute! wasn't that vet lady who took care of the dogs in season 3 episode "Forever"?

that puppet commercial with Grissom and Catherine was awesome! He's like "interesting"! hehe

Doc Robbins is like eat my pie... OR ELSE! lol looked good though.

I liked the whole story though. It was intriguing to learn about the human stomach and how much it can hold.

 

I'm so glad I don't like hot dogs to begin with. I'm also glad I ate early and didn't go back for seconds! :lol:

Hodges is definitely growing on me - he's adorable with a clothespin on his nose...

"Springer rage"...LMFAO, that was a great little exchange!

Greg flat out stole the show. Not only did he have the single most killer line, he effectively cracked the case.

Poor Doc Robbins. Gotta love a man who can cook. And what's with Warrick...honesty can be delivered with tact, sweetie...you could always be chowing one of those "delicious" peanut-butter-and-bupkis sandwiches...

I liked it. I'm thinking the "BiM" reprise next week is to set us up for the December 8 ep...

I wasn't sure about this one. The sum appeared to be less than the parts (I guess CSI can't always give us a masterpiece) but the parts were tasty :

- Nick "stay dead" and Hodges "I'll throw you a bone"

- Grissom's blablabla on hotdogs and Greg thinking his boss can really be a pain in the a$$

- Cute pie moment between Robbins and Warrick and Catherine, and cute pet discussion between Hodges and Sara and Nick.

- Nick's mustache was everywhere I can't remember which clip but George Eads clearly implied during an interview that TPTB would use it in the plots to come on CSI.

- Sara in the interrogation room with the bitc$ on wheels comment "THIS wasn't made for public transit " :lol: What a snob :lol: She hits the dog when she takes the Beatles records ! I wish Kahlua dog 2 had already replaced Kahlua dog 1

In the end, the more I think about this ep, the more I see its powerful message : human need is bottomless but human society (and human nature) isn't. I work with people and families dealing with intellectual deficiency and it's the same story : we do what we can to help them but we never know when somebody's gonna hit the wall of our limited capacities. Sure, the wall is usually not deadly but it usually takes a crisis of some kind to put everything and everybody in motion, whether it's the public or private system.

 

Gil and Cath *puppets*?!?!!? Anyone know if this has been put online somewhere for those of us deprived via Canadian tv?

 

Well i´ve just seen it a few minutes ago, and oh well, it was a ordinary CSI Episode. I liked the dogs (i just love dogs) and Nicky, but i missed Warrick and Greggo action... I loved that part with doctor givin' some pie to Warrick and Cath... diet pie yeah it must be nham nham....

 

Over all, I really liked the episode. I thought the cases were interesting and I liked the interaction between the characters.

One thing I liked was when Sara was looking at the records trying to determine what records were missing.

Sara: Something between The Beachs Boys and Billy Joel.

A very slight pause

Both: Beatles

I liked their case. I thought it was an interesting idea that the wife only wanted the dog to spite the husband.

And poor Hodges and his hamsters that "ran away." The look on Nick's and Sara's face was priceless.

Like others I liked the bits with Warrick and Doc Robbins, the one hot dog scene between Grissom and Greg and the music choice for Greg looking at the hot dog ends.

I felt sorry for the sister. There was no one she could turn to other then her not completely trustworthy boyfriend.

So overall a good episode. Though maybe not the best to show on Thanksgiving, but other then that.

 

I don't watch regularly, like I should, but it is so apparent why this show is #1 in the ratings...the acting is stellar, the cinematography is incredible and the storylines are out of this world. I felt sad at the end for my brother's character. I kinda teared up. I froze the screen of the newspaper clipping and actually took a picture of my tv (ha ha). I was grossed out by the bucket of stomach contents! And I thought the couple who fought over the dog was really pathetic (not the story, but the true to life idea that couples who split fight over the pets as vehemently as kids).

My brother said the shoot was great. The pretzel scene was a quick shot and he was done in 2 hours. The dumpster scene took 2 days to film and Bill said the garbage was all created by the production crew, so the first day it was fresh and not too bad. Day 2, after it had baked in the sun, Bill said it was nauseating!

 

I was glad the dog was a Golden Ret. and not the typical Rotty or Pit Bull. Goldens can be such psycho dogs. Must be the hair color. We have a few in our neighborhood that are just as nasty as can be so it didn't surprise me that they used that breed.

With regards to the "food" ep. I'd heard of that syndrome and they were on the money with the condition.

 

It was a really good show. I liked it. I like when they get a bit campy rather than so serious all the time.

Doc Robbins and the pie! Oh, so funny.

Nick and his "Pornstache" needs to go. It's like wierd and a turn off but still semi a turn on. Makes me think he's going for a role of a 70's porn star. Hence the girls at work have labeled the new Nick addition the "pornstache"

I was glad to see more Sara in this episode and she didn't look or act all sad.

The Beatles reference was classic. Being in radio, when they said albums were missing I said, "Probably Beatles albums" outloud before they said the name.

Overall, not the best show I've seen but it was pretty good.

 

Not the best of the season but more light hearted than the last 2 episodes, which I think was the point.

The scene with Doc Robbins pie, was hilarious!!

 

I thought it was a very interesting eppy.

At the beginning when Brass said, 'Happy Thanksgiving' really tied in with the Holiday.

I was a little repulsed by the eating contest.

I felt bad for the guy whose Prader-Willi disease made him eat uncontrollably. I was upset with his sister's boyfriend who exploited him.

The case that Nick and Sara were investigating was also interesting. That must have been a very bitter custody battle for Kahlua the first.

The Hodges moments were somewhat funny with him whining a lot. I loved how Nick put him in his place when he said that owning a pet reduces stress levels.

Doctor Robbins and the strawberry rhubarb pie incident was the cutest moment in the eppy. He got Warrick to try it, but he thought it lacked taste. He also tried to get Catherine to have a slice, but she didn't want it after seeing that eating contest.

I wonder what Greg is going to do with all those hot dogs he bought.

 

I also loved the scene when Jim and Catherine were at the hot dog eating contest. Jim's facial expressions were classic. It looked like he really wanted to puke. And I don't blame him, that scene was gross. I felt sick myself.

 

The pie looked pretty strange. It didn't look delicious.
I thoguht it was just an ordinary episode. For soem reason the A case made me think about that guy in the spelling contest from season 4.
I liked the B case better because of the dogs

 

This episode had me moving frequently between states of utter disgust and giggles and laughter the whole night! :lol: It was a nice fun episode after all the previous more serious episodes, and as someone else mentioned, I'm sure that was the point.

I have to say it's been a long time since I've been that grossed out... I guess everyone has their "gross out" meter, and mine usually has something to do with stomach contents, eating stuff, etc. (That first victim in the movie "Seven" who represented gluttony made me squirm in my seat! )

I liked both stories and how they were handled. I liked the filming and weird angles they were using as well... I'd have to re-watch it again to recall the one that made me think, "Oh, cool shot!" but there was some cool filming going on either way.

Great, fun dialogue, and I thoroughly enjoyed all the banter in the episode. To me, it always makes it seem more personal- like a real workplace with real people. I spend half the day taking the piss out of my colleagues, if for no better reason than to amuse myself. :lol: Anyway, I love watching the interactions, and as I have mentioned in probably every other review of all the episodes this season, that's what I'm really enjoying in Season 6. I think the writers have finally gotten it right. Hopefully, they will keep getting it right and I will be able to continue complimenting them on it!

And on that note, I totally thought that, although Warrick's screentime was short (probably because he was in the UK, as mentioned earlier), it was still a quality scene. Now, in lieu of that, is anybody else getting tired of him mentioning "my lady"? I sort of feel like they're hitting us over the head with it all the time.. although there may be a method to their madness, and all this pronounced extra dedication now is a set up for something later? Who knows?

I also think Hodges has taken over the role of comedy relief in the lab nicely. While I think Greg is still amusing, I did miss the in-the-lab hijinx, and while his style is completely different than Greg's was, Hodges is cracking me up regularly! :lol: He's good bang for your buck, definitely!

Grissom's amusement throughout and pointless facts were great to watch, as were Catherine's moments of kindness. Sara and Nick working together was cool too- loved the "Beatles" moment. Nick- love the jeans, as usual. Still think the stache must go ( ), and the sooner the better.

Overall, I found this a nice lighter-hearted ep, and very entertaining.

 

I wish he would have told Grissom which body orifice he could stick them up. Grissom was sure being a tightwad when he wouldn't authorize the lab paying for the cost of the hotdogs. Greg's little experiment with the weiners contributed to a big lead in the case, but was he recognized or praised for it? Hell no. That being said, I loved Greggo's "weiner" line.

Grissom was kind of a jerk with Greg, but I did enjoy his story about the origin of the words "hot dog." He's just full of little pearls of wisdom. He must be a huge baseball fan. Loved Greg's look when he was looking for an excuse to exit Grissom's office.

I felt like I was in an alternate universe when I saw that Hodges had more screentime than Greg. That was truly sad for me.

Well, Nick's moustache is growing on me (no pun intended). Now that it has grown out, I actually think he looks kind of handsome with it. I saw George interviewed on the CBS Morning Show" recently, and he was wearing his baseball hat, and the look just somehow all came together with the moustache.

Sofia walks like a man. She has an unusual gait for a woman. It's very, er...masculine. But that's okay, I guess. I've been told that I bounce when I walk.

Doc Robbins was cute when he said that HE baked the pie. I hate low carb, low sugar desserts. My pies are chock full of calories and fat grams, just like they were meant to be.

It was an okay episode. Far from great. I suppose it had to be as light-hearted as it could be given that it was aired on a huge American holiday. The food theme fit right in.

I've never in my life met a mean golden retriever, or mean golden lab for that matter. That dog must have really suffered from some type of dog psychotic episode to attack his owner in that way.
