Very interesting,
Top...The more I think about it, the more I think Don would intend to steer clear of this Danny Messer character, but find himself unable to do so for some reason he can't quite fathom.
I'm still working on the first-meeting fic, but I got sidetracked by a follow-up to "Hung Out to Dry." We've got Flack thinking in the car, and, you know, sex later. It's not exactly teh pr0n that
Kimmy writes, because I was going for something more emotional and less, you know, smutty, but there will be real smut in the future. (Actually, I already wrote some angry!sex between Danny and Adam for a little ficcy that's going to end up having more than one ending--Danny/Adam, Danny/Flack and maybe even Danny/Flack/Adam if I'm ambitious. :lol
I loved this past episode, seriously. The Danny/Flack stuff was great for non-shippers because I think it showed that, even if they haven't specifically said that Danny was around for Don's recovery, their friendship is still definitely there. The writers have never specifically said that these two are best friends, as I've seen someone mention somewhere else, but there's no doubt that, of all the characters on this show, Flack is Danny's closest friend.
But that's friendship, and we looked deeper into it. I loved that Flack went after Danny to chase Shane. Probably shouldn't have been doing that with your injuries, Don, but how could he not? My story is going to address that issue--Rhonda is going to re-read it today and tell me if there's anything else that I need to change, and I need to write down the dialogue from the car scene, but it should be posted tonight or tomorrow morning on my LJ and ff.net.
I'll let you know when.
The idea that Shane would go after Danny is very interesting (since he gave Shane his card and all), but I really think it would be even
more interesting if Danny pushed himself deep into the investigation, trying to find evidence to prove whether Shane's brother was guilty or not, and ended up giving Shane justice for his brother, regardless of what the results say. I can see Danny being the one to stop Shane from killing anybody else, but I'm not convinced that Shane will ever make it to jail.
It's just such a tragic character that I really think he'll probably die. If not, I'm interested to see what happens, though. It wouldn't surprise me if Danny put himself into unnecessary danger in the course of the case, and I'd love to see a scene with Flack trying to tell him not to risk himself like that...
I've been thinking about that promo for next week, where someone jumps on a guy and knocks him off a motorcycle--if that's meant to be Danny, in light of the fire escape jump this week, is it possible that he's getting reckless?
What will Flack do to convince Danny to quit putting himself in danger because, in case he hasn't noticed, he's important to Don even if he doesn't think he's important himself. *huggles the woobies*
