The following morning after the girls left for school, Eric talked with Mackenzie.

"Sweetheart, we need to talk."

"Oh, that can't be good. What happened?"

"Nothing yet. Maybe nothing at all. Not sure yet."

"Eric, you're going in circles. What's going on?"

"Yesterday after school, Sara was talking with the new substitute teacher who's taking over the music class."

"Yeah. Mr. Phillips. What about him?"

"How much does school know about him?"

"I don't know Eric. I know they do a records check, I also know he worked at other schools before coming here. There's never been any complaints about him, that we know of. Why all the questions?"

"It seems Shannon caught him staring at Sara, like I stare at you. She said it bothered her. That it wasn't normal."

"I don't know Eric. Maybe you could check deeper into his background. Find out more about him. All I know is I can't go in there and accuse him of something he's not doing."

"I know that Mackenzie. But I also know how trusting my Peanut is. So yes, I have concerns for her. Especially when my other daughter tells me this teacher is looking at our seven year old with lust in his eyes."

"Oh would you stop. You're all jumping the gun."

Eric never thought this conversation would be working out this way. He thought for sure Mackenzie would be more understanding.

"Jumping the gun or not. I'm going to check into his background. Then I'm going to the school to pick up the girls at the end of the day. Just because I like to jump the gun."

Walking out the door, he slammed it.

When he got to the station, Mac noticed his mood.

"Eric, my office."

Walking in, he sat himself down.

"What's going on Eric. Mackenzie called me in tears, you look like you're ready to kill someone. What's going on?"

"There's this substitute teacher at the girls school. Shannon informed me yesterday that he was staring at Peanut the way you or I would stare at our wives. So Mackenzie threw a fit, cause I asked her to look into it."

"Eric, you do understand she's on the school council. For her to go in and accuse someone like that isn't done. You need to have proof."

"God dad. If you think I'm going to wait till something happens you can forget it. MY little girl has been through enough hell. So yeah, I'm going to protect her. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to check into his background."

When Eric left, Mac knew it wasn't like Eric to lose his cool like this. Shannon must have said something that really set him to investigate. Deciding to help, Mac called the four previous schools he worked at.

Meanwhile....

During lunchtime, Mr.Phillips walked up to Sara and her sisters.

"Hi Sara, how are you?"

"Hi Mr.Phillips, I'm fine. Though daddy said I can't take choir, cause I'm already in Gymnastics."

"Aww..well that's okay. If you like I can give you some lessons during lunch. How about starting tomorrow you meet me in my class?"

"Sure. Cool. I'll be there."

"Alright, I'll see you in a bit for music class. Then tomorrow at lunch, I'll be all yours."

Once he left Shannon looked at her sister.

"Don't even say it Shannon. He's very nice."

"Fine. But I'm still telling daddy."

Leaving the table, Sara stormed out of the lunchroom.

As the bell rang for afternoon classes, Sara sat away from Shannon in music class. Not once did Sara even look at her. Oh no, she was to busy listening to Mr.Phillips. When the bell rang, Mr.Phillips asked Sara to stay behind.

"Tell daddy I'll be right there Shannon."

"No. I'll wait."

Mr.Phillips knew there was no way he was going to have Sara today.

"That's okay Sara, you go ahead. We'll talk tomorrow."

Leaving the room, Shannon gave Mr.Phillips the dirtiest look, then she said...

"My daddy's a CSI. My grandfather a LT., and my Uncles too. So if you try anything with my sister, you'll be sorry."

Walking away, Mr.Phillips wondered what the hell he was going to do now. Thinking to himself he realized he'd just have to find another child. A child that had no parents who were in Law Enforcement. Though again he should thank Shannon. She had stopped him from making a big mistake.

 at Shannon. She sure told Mr. Phillips off... and scared him off. Smart girl! I can't decide who she's more like Stella or Mac... or a little of both.

There's my girls. How was your day?"

"It was good daddy. Mr.Phillips said I can see him at lunch times and he'll help me with the catch up with my music lessons."

"Oh no your not Sara. Don't let her daddy. I already told Mr.Phillips to back of my sister. I also told him you and papa were Csi, and Lt. I told him if he comes near my sister that he would be in trouble."

"Shannon!! I hate you. You have no right to do that. How could you. He did nothing wrong."

Opening the car door, Sara took off.

"Stay here."

As Eric followed her into the locker area, he lost track of her.

"Mr.Delko?? What are you doing here?"

"I need to find Sara. She ran back into the school. Where is her music class?"

"On the second floor, why??"

Not answering Eric took off up the stairs. When he came to the music room he found Mr.Phillips.

"Excuse me. I'm CSI Delko. Can you tell me if you've seen my daughter. I believe she's in your class. Sara Delko."

Eric was eying him. He could see how nervous he was. He could smell his fear, as Eric stood over him.

"Umm...she was here. But she left with her sister. I'm sorry."

"Excuse me Mr.Delko. We found her. She's in the office."

"Thanks."

Turning to look at Mr.Philips he whispered...

"We'll be keeping an eye on you."

Walking down to the office, Eric knew he was going to have to cool off. The last thing he wanted to do was scare Sara with his anger. Anger that had nothing to do with her.

"Hey Peanut. Come here."

Looking in her daddy's eyes she could see no anger, only love and understanding. Getting up out of the chair, she ran into her daddy's arms.

"I'm sorry daddy. Please don't be mad. I didn't mean to run."

"Shh...I'm not mad Peanut. I could never be mad. But I never want you to feel like you have to run away. What your sister did for you, she did out of love. Out of concern for you."

"I know daddy. But I don't see it. He's very nice daddy. Why can't she understand."

Eric didn't want the school to become suspicious of Mr.Phillips. For he knew it would cause his wife grief at the next Council meeting. He also knew to accuse someone without any proof could ruin his career.

"I'll tell you what Peanut. Let's talk more at home okay."

"Okay daddy. I love you."

"I love you too Peanut. So much."

Walking hand in hand from the school, Mr.Phillips watched from the window.

Meanwhile..

Mac was looking over the reports from the three other schools Mr.Phillips worked at.

"Hey Mac. Did you find anything on that Phillips guy?"

"Nothing Danny. He's clean. No record. Top of his class, not so much as a repremand his 10 years of teaching."

"Hmm..sounds to clean to me. What's your take on him?"

"I'm really not sure. But I know Shannon. She has my keen sense when it comes to knowing someone isn't whom they seem to be."

"Yeah. But on the other hand, she has Stella's temper. You can bet as long as she's with Sara, nothing will happen."

"She is a fireball. It's funny. Mackenzie is so quiet, Sara is to trusting, and Sharon is the peace keeper. It seems Shannon got all the Taylor/Bonasara side. Makes me wonder what kind of temperment the trip's will have."

"Hah!!! My money is on Delko. I have a feeling those little girls will be pure Delko's."

Laughing they headed home.

When Eric got home with the girls, Mackenzie wasn't sure what Eric's mood would be.

"Hi Mac, how was your day?"

Kissing her on the lips, she wasn't sure what to think.

"Umm..it was good. How was yours?"

"The usual. What's for dinner?"

"Stew, salad, buns, and chocolate cake for dessert."

"Mm..sounds great. I'll set the table."

Macknezie smiled cautiously. Eric's mood seemed normal. But wasn't it just this morning, they had argued.

"Hi mommy. You need any help?"

"Hey Shannon. Sure, you take the salad to the table. Where's your sisters?"

"Upstairs doing their homework."

"Don't you have homework?"

"No. I finished mine at school."

"Oh..okay. Do you want to call your sisters."

"Sure."

Once Eric was alone with his wife he whispered...

"Sweethert, are you still angry with me about this morning?"

"No. I thought you were still angry with me."

"Listen love. I don't hold on to our arguements. What happened this morning is in the past. We move forward, not back. Understand?"

Nodding her head, Eric passionately kissed her.

"Oh please. Come on dad, were hungry."

Breaking out of their kiss, Eric grabbed his Peanut and carried her to the table as she whispered....

"Daddy. We don't have to tell mommy about me running away, do we?"

"No. You don't. But you should. I think mommy has a right to know how you were feeling. Don't you?"

"I guess so daddy. Do you think she'll be mad?"

"No. I think she'll be very understanding. Now let's eat."

Sitting his daughter in the chair, the Delko family sat down to dinner.

When Mac arrived at home, he was met by his beautiful daughter.

"Dada, uppy."

Picking her up in his arms, he kissed her tiny rosebud lips.

"How's daddy's girl?"

"Ookie dada. Ookie."

"I see your cookie, where's mommy?"

Pointing towards the kitchen Mac opened the door, and found his lovely wife bent over the stove.

"Forever bending over love. So many thoughts you send through my mind."

*Laughing*...Yeah. Not one of them pure."

"Ouch, be nice love. I missed you today. You left the lab early, why?"

"I left early to talk to our daughter, who seems to be under the impression that Eric is being over concerned. So. I ask your thoughts."

"To be honest love. I think their is something suspicious about this Mr.Phillips. We checked all the schools he worked at, pulled files from his highschool years, and University years. Everything came back clean. Not so much as a parking violation."

"Hmm..a model citizen. Is kind of unheard of. So what's your next move?"

"I'm sending Danny and Don to the last school he substituted at. Hopefully they can find something. My main concern is a child being assulted if Shannon's hunch is right."

"You do realize this is going to get messy. Your daughter is about to go through hell again once the Board gets wind of this investigation."

"Hopefully we find the proof before the crap hits the fan."

"I hope so too, for you daughter, and granddaughters sake."

Looking over at her husband, she noticed he was caressing Michelle's back and she was sound asleep.

"I think your daughter is ready for bed Mac."

"Yeah. I'll be right back down love. Don't move from that position." He winked.

Before laying his daughter down, he continued to caress her back while kissing her little forehead.

"Sleep well little lamb, daddy see you in the morning."

Coming back downstairs, he found his wife had disappeared from the kitchen.

"Now where did she go?"

Searching the rooms, he still couldn't find her.

"Stel!! Stel, are we playing one of our naughty games again? Let me know love. Stel, Stel answer me."

Nothing, not even so much as a giggle. Either she was getting really good at hiding out, or she had actually left. Checking the back, he found her walking the beach with King and Kong Jr.

"I thought I told you to stay put love."

"Sorry hon. The dogs need me more. Unless you'd like to clean up their messes."

"Hmm..no I'll pass. Are you coming in now? I can still have you over the stove if you do."

Stella knew Mac was wanting her attention. He always wanted her. Just like she always wanted him. Never were they ever bored with each others antics or games. Hell, that was what kept them alive. Their passion for exploration, and indoor activities.

"I'll tell you what handsom," as she began undressing. I'll let you take me right here, right now."

Watching her strip in front of him, in fevered passion Mac did take her. Took her in ways that were only spoken of, but never proven capable of being done. Then as she was drained and passed out in his arms, he carried her upstairs, where he loved again, until the early morning light shone through their window.

Bringing forth a new day. A day that would be full of regrets.

With the Delko house now quiet. Eric nor Mackenzie could sleep.

"What's the matter Mackenzie? You're to quiet tonight."

"I'm just tired Eric. Can you shut off the light. I need some sleep."

Christ she was being cold. Had he not told her their arguement that morning was forgotten. Yet still she was angry with him.

"Please Mackenzie. I don't want to go to bed angry. Tell me what's wrong."

"Fine Eric. I got a call this evening while you were bathing the trip's. It was from the school board. They were asking me why Miami-Dade was investigating one of their teachers."

"What!!! Why would they think it was you involved?"

"Come on Eric. Did you, or did you not have a conversation with your daughter in the office over Mr. Phillips?"

"Yeah. I did. But nothing was said. So if the office is telling you they overheard something, they're lying. Sounds more to me like Mr.Phillips may have found out and informed them himself."

"Why would he have any reason to think that Eric?"

Eric thought back to the day, and the words he had said to Mr.Phillips..."I'll be watching you."

"I may have mentioned to Mr.Phillips that we would be watching him. But that's all that was said."

"You know. I'm really upset with this. You better hope to hell you find something on him. Cause if you don't, all those plans we had to change the school, make it better will be gone. I'll be dismissed. God Eric, why can't you see the whole picture.

"Is that all you care about Macknezie? School Council. How about worrying about our daughter. You know. The one that is so trusting towards others, how about her Mackenzie?"

"I know that Eric. I am worried about her. More then you know. I know she's trusting, I know she looks for approval. But it was your God damn idea. Oh get on the School Council hon, you can make a difference hon. You need this hon. I'm just saying this kind of accusation can ruin someones name. Someones reputation."

"You know what Mackenzie. I could care less about his reputation. The only thing that is my main concern is my daughter. Plus, my instincts are right on this, and I'll be damned it he's going to hurt any child.

Storming out of the room, Eric headed downstairs and flopped on the couch. So much anger was built up in their stress tonight, everything that was their happiness had changed from this one day event.

Covering himself up, he heard the sound of little feet. Looking up he seen his little peanut standing there with tears.

"I'm sorry daddy. I'm sorry I made you and mommy fight. I'm sorry."

"Aww..come here Peanut. You have nothing to be sorry for. Nothing. None of this is your fault. Sometimes mommy and daddy's fight, it's what helps keep us balanced Peanut. None of it is your fault."

"Yeah. But if I hadn't of talked to Mr.Phillips none of this would be happening."

Snugging her under his blanket, in his arms, he kissed her head and whispered...

"Yes it would Peanut. Only it would have happened to another child, a child that may not have had a sister to protect her. Sleep now Peanut. It will all work out."
