~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hey mom, how's Anya and Michael?"
"They are great Mackenzie. Go have a look at your new nephew."
"A boy, they had a boy? Where is the fairness in that."
Mac laughed. He knew how badly Eric wanted a son to carry on his name. But God seemed intent on blessing him with girls.
"It's okay son. You'll time will come. You and Mackenzie can try again in a few years."
"A few years? I want a son now." He laughed teasingly.
"Listen son. Last thing you need is another three to go with the six you already have. Just relax, enjoy what you have. And the rest will fall into place when the time is right."
"Or I can always see if Michael would be willing to trade his son for one of my girls."
"Eric Delko."
"Sorry babe. I was just joking."
"I should hope so. So dad, we'll be seeing you on friday for the trip's birthday party, right?"
"We'll all be there. Now go see your brothers son."
Heading into the room, they could hear Eric....
"Listen Michael. You can have two of mine, for your one son?"
Shaking their heads. Mac and Stella headed home.
Meanwhile....
The girls were waiting for their bus to arrive. They were excited to get home.
"Shannon, we get to help mom set up for the party tomorrow. I can't wait. I wish the bus would hurry."
"Me too Sharon. Mom said I could blow up the balloons. Where's Sara?"
"I don't know. She was here."
As Shannon and Sharon looked for their sister, they found her with some strange man.
"Sara...let's go the bus will be coming."
"Okay, I'm coming. I got to now Mr. Phillips, see you tomorrow."
"That you will Sara."
Watching her leave he couldn't help but get excited. Such a trusting little girl she was.
"Sara. You know you're not supposed to talk to strangers."
"He's not a stranger Shannon. He's the substitute music teacher. He just introduced himself, that's all."
"I don't care who he is. He looks creepy, and I don't like the way he stares at you."
"Oh would you stop. I swear Shannon. You think everyone is evil or something."
"Whatever Sara. Just stay away from him after school hours, or I'll tell daddy."
"Tell him what? That one of my teachers talk to me after school. Oh yesh. That makes him such a monster."
"All I'm saying is he's a substitute. Which means we know nothing about him, or his background. So just be careful Sara. I love you, and don't want to see you get hurt."
"Fine!! Here's the bus, let's go."
Shannon knew Sara was mad at her, but she didn't care. For there was something about this new substitute she didn't like.
"Mom, dad, we're home."
"Hey girls, how was your day?"
"It was good daddy. Where's mom?"
"She's dressing the trip's. You're aweful quiet my Peanut. You okay?"
"I'm fine daddy. I'm going to do my homework."
When she left upstairs, Shannon said...
"She's mad at me daddy. I kind of upset her."
"About what sweetheart?"
"We had this new music teacher today. He's a substitute who's going to be taking over for Mrs.Franks. Anyways, I didn't like the way he was looking at Sara. So I told her to be careful around him, and she got mad."
"How was he looking at her?"
"I don't know daddy. He just stared at her alot with his eyes. Kinda like you and mommy do."
Eric was becoming concerned. But he also knew not to jump the gun.
"Okay Shannon. Thanks for telling me. I'll talk to Peanut."
"K daddy. I'm sorry she's mad. I just don't like him looking at her like that."
When Eric got upstairs, he found Peanut talking to her dog.
"Hey Peanut. Can I come in?"
"Sure daddy."
Sitting down on his daughters bed he asked....
"Do you want to tell me what happened with you and Shannon?"
"There's nothing to tell daddy. She just don't like me talking to the new teacher. She thinks he's creepy."
Eric knew Sara was very trusting. She always had been. Alot of that had to with the way their real father had treated them. Especially Sara. Always telling her she was stupid, and couldn't do anything right. Leaving her starving for affection and approval from the opposite sex.
That was what worried Eric. Leaving him the need to find out more about this new teacher.
"And you don't. You like him?"
"I do daddy. He told me I have talent. He said he wants me to join the choir after school, and I want to, can I daddy?"
"Sara, you are only seven, you also promised mommy that you would all pick one after school activity. Your choice was Gymnastics."
"But I change my mind daddy. I want to join choir instead."
"I think it's best if you stay in Gymnastics. Please, for daddy."
"Fine daddy. I'll stay in it in. But it doesn't mean I hafta like it."
"Good. Now come here, and give me a huge hug."
Climbing into her daddy's arms, Eric just held her while he thought about the best way to get to know this new teacher.
