CSI:NY- Love, Loss and Life

**Chap36**- Relationships....

It was 7:30pm and Lindsay had long gone to bed. Adam and Hawkes had just left as they had to be at work earlier than the others the next day. Danny’s parents had already left and Louie was getting ready to leave.

‘Cya later Lou!’ Flack called across the room as Lucy started to drag a tipsy husband towards the door.

‘Thanks Danny,’ Lucy said as she hugged her brother in law, ‘we’ll call you next week so we can get together for dinner.’

‘Sure Luc, make sure you don’t let him drive!’

‘Don’t worry Danno, come on you!’ She grabbed Louie and pulled him out of the door. Leaving Danny laughing as he bolted the door.

He saw Kate heading to the kitchen and went to help, ‘Hey Kate, need any help?’

‘It’s ok Danny but you can if you want,’ she said as he pulled a bear out her hands. ‘So you and Mac have been going out for over a year now! Any plans to you know, go a bit further?’

Kate blushed, ‘No Danny we are happy how we are, at the moment. We’ve got a good routine at the moment in our apartment- lives good!’

‘Kate we all know how much Mac cares about you. You don’t know how much he’s changed in the past year,’ Danny said leaning against the counter.

Kate laughed, ‘Come on Danny they want drinks in there!’

‘Yeh yeh…but I’ll be interrogating Mac later!’

Kate sighed, ‘Whatever!’

When they walked back into the sitting room, both were laughing.

‘What’s up with you two?’ Mac asked as Kate handed him a new beer, kissed him on the check and sat back down next to him.

‘Just Messer being Messer,’ Flack laughed at Kate’s answer.

Danny passed Flack and Stella their drinks and sat back down letting out a sigh and closed his eyes, ‘Oi you wake up!’ Stella said.

‘Shh,’ Danny opened his eyes and took a sip of beer, ‘it’s been a long day and year!'Danny took another sip, 'Guys, thanks for going this morning, it means a lot.’

‘Danny, don’t be stupid, Lindsay was our friend too you know?’ Stella said.

‘Yeah I know Stel but still.’



For the next five minutes everyone sat drinking and thinking in silence, ‘I wish I had known her.’

Danny looked up to see Kate thinking as she sat close to Mac and smiled. Even though he had known her a while Danny had never heard her mention Lindsay, ‘she would have liked you and you’d have liked her.’

‘From what Mac’s told me, I know I would have,’ Kate smiled at Danny.

The conversation soon turned to their usually ones about their latest cases which Kate had began to join in with after many months of not understanding the scientific terms. After a few more beers they soon lost track of the time.

‘So Stel do you reckon Johnson will be back anytime soon,’ When he didn’t get an answer Danny looked around to see Stella asleep, curled up and snuggling into Flack's warmth.

‘We aren’t that boring are we?’ Danny asked. Mac laughed as he looked at his watch.

‘Oops, it’s just gone half eleven, Stel got called out this morning just after four! No wonder she’s asleep!’

‘Maybe we should all get going,’ Flack said as Mac, Kate and Danny stood up to start clearing away the empty bottles. ‘Come on Stel, time to way up and get going.’

Stella moaned and tried to get closer to flack as he tried to get away from her grasp, luckily for them only Danny was paying attention, ‘mmmm, come on Flack five more minutes, you wore me out! Lets stay in bed!’

Danny laughed, ‘Oi Stel!’ Danny said throwing a ball of paper at her, ‘wake up Flack’s going to take ‘ya home.’

Stella grunted and opened her eyes. Realising where she was she quickly moved remembering what she had just said but noticed that neither Mac nor Kate noticed so she also stood up and began clear up.

‘Nice move Stel, I’m sure you’ll be able to keep it a secret if you do that again!’

This time Danny earned himself a punch in the arm, ‘Watch it Danny!’ Flack could only laugh as he saw the fear in his friends eyes.

**Chap36** Continued....

'See you guys!' Danny closed the door on his friends laughing at a tipsy Mac who usually knew his limit. After Stella and kate had managed to convince him he shouldn't drive home he had reluctantly handed over his car keys.

Suddenly Danny felt how tierd he was and started to walk towards his bedroom. He peeked into Lindsay's room to see her sleeping soundly and smiled- he had made one good kid. He pulled the door to and headed to his room, stripping himself of his green shirt and jeans on his way. When he reached his room he collapsed onto his bed and closed his eyes. It hadn't been a bad year, he had survived with the help of his little Montana...with the image of his two girls in his mind he fell into a welcoming sleep.

**Chap37**- Breakfast

‘Montana!’ Danny called down the hall as he moved around the kitchen.

Two minutes later a girl with her brown curls bouncing on her shoulders appeared around the corner, ‘Yes Daddy!’ She answered happily.

‘Breakfast,’ Danny said as he put two plates on the table.

‘Watffles!’ Lindsay sat down and started to eat her breakfast. Danny grabbed his coffee and sat opposite her. It amazed him how someone could be so awake in the mornings without the caffeine boost!

‘So what do you want to do today before your first day tomorrow…your choice?’

‘The Lab!’ Lindsay grinned.

‘On my day off you want to take me to work?’ Lindsay nodded and giggled.

‘But can I go the park...Baseball!’

‘That’s more like it, anything else?’ Danny asked as he took another mouthful of his waffles.

Lindsay considered what else to do, ‘Pizza! Yeh I want pizza.’

‘Pizza it is…Frankie’s or Leo’s?’

Lindsay shook her head, ‘Nooo Daddy, I want our pizza!’

Danny smiled, ‘Ok well first lets finish this, get dressed and then we’ll head for the lab!’

‘Yay!’ Lindsay said as she tucked into her waffles, ‘Mmmm.’
 
I thought you were some how replying to an update there Jools :p I miss writing this soon and I cant wait untill I have time to write :D
 
Ok, I should be studying but I had an urge to write!

**Chap38**- Restrictions!

As Lindsay got out of the truck she jumped up into Danny’s arms and smiled happily as they headed towards the elevator. As they stepped inside she looked down to make sure that her own police badge was rested nicely on her hip like her cousins it was not real but an extremely good replica.

As the doors started opening Lindsay squirmed her way out of her father’s arms and started to jog off in the direction of Adam’s lab, ‘Remember the rules Montana!’

‘Yes daddy!’ before Danny could say anything else Lindsay had disappeared around the corner.

Danny sighed and turned in the direction of his office when he saw Stella walking out of Mac’s office looking extremely happy, ‘Hey Stel!’

‘Messer, what are you doing here? Isn’t it Lindsay’s last day of freedom?’

Danny laughed, ‘Yep and she chose to come here. Anyway what’s made you so cheerful?’

‘Oh, just my powers over Mac!’ Danny looked at her completely confused, ‘Oh you aren’t getting this one out of me! It’s above top secret,’ Stella said laughing, ‘But I’ve got a feeling that you daughter may find out before most others!’

‘Wha?’ Danny asked, even more confused. Stella winked and they both left the corridor in the direction of a two piles of reports.


*meanwhile*


Lindsay was standing in the door way of Adam’s lab with her hands over her eyes and speaking loudly.

‘ADAM?’

‘Hey dude!’ Adam said turning around to face the younger girl.

‘Is there any gross, yucky, scary or dangerous stuff that Uncle Mac’ll kill you for if I see it, in here?!?!’ With here hands still over her eyes Lindsay repeated her over used speech.

Adam had a quick look around the room, ‘Nope, you’re safe.’

Lindsay took here hands off her eyes and ran over to Adam, ‘Hey, Adam what ‘ya doing?’
‘Erm nothing really. No new cases so I’ve got no new evidence!’

‘That sucks!’ Lindsay said as she crossed her arms and pulled her face.

‘So I guess you’d rather be sitting out in the hall or in the break room on your last day?’

Lindsay tried to keep a straight face but failed when Adam started to tickle her, ‘St..opp…Add….’

‘Adam!’ Adam stopped what he was doing when he turned around to see Mac standing at the door.

‘Adam, Stella’s just been called out so you’ll have to get yourself into gear soon!’ Adam nodded, ‘and you,’ Mac pointed at Lindsay, ‘follow me!’ Adam and Lindsay looked at each other with faces of horror as Lindsay got off Adam’s lap and followed Mac out.

As they walked into Mac’s office and sat down it sure looked as if Lindsay had been called into the principles office! She had no idea what was wrong with her Uncle but she couldn’t help smiling…whatever was wrong, she always got her way when it came to her Uncle Mac!
As she sat down Mac closed the door. As Mac got to the desk he picked her up and as she giggled he sat on his chair with Lindsay on his lap.
Lindsay looked at him and tried to figure out what he was doing, ‘Ok now, what I’m going to ask you now you must keep it quiet ok? That’s even from your Daddy ok? Even though he’s going to be annoyed with me that I told a five year old before him…’

‘Yeh but Uncle Mac, I’m a very intelligent five year old, remember?’ Mac laughed and nodded, ‘spill…’ Lindsay grinned.

‘Ok, what would you say if I asked you to play a very important part in a very important day that I and Auntie Kate are planning?’

Lindsay thought for a moment and then asked a question, ‘What would I have to do?’

‘Erm, you’ll have to wear a pretty dress and just look so beautiful that no one will notice this man you’re sitting on!’

Lindsay looked confused, ‘Why don’t you want people to see you?’

‘Never mind. So what do you say?’

‘Uncle Mac, you still haven’t told me what it’s for!’

‘Oh erm,’ Mac lowered his voice to a whisper, ‘I’ve asked Kate to erm Marry me!’

Lindsay took a moment to think about the information she was just given,‘Yayyyy!!!!! Uncle M….’ Mac put his hand on her mouth.

‘Shhhh,’ Only you and Auntie Stella know ok? So you have to keep a secret for a little while but when me and Kate have told everyone you can scream about it as much as you want ok?’

Lindsay nodded and Mac removed his hand. There was a knock at the door and Danny came in, ‘Hey sweetie, my reports done so I was thinking…do you want to go and play some ball?’

Lindsay nodded, gave Mac a kiss and jumped off of his lap, ‘Uncle Mac, the secrets safe with me!’ Lindsay winked and went and jumped into Danny’s arms.

‘See you tomorrow Mac,’ Danny said as he left the office and looked at his daughter.

‘What secret? Feel like telling me?’ Danny said as he pressed the elevator button.
‘Sorry Danno but that’s between me and Uncle Mac!’ Lindsay said as she tapped her nose.

Danny rolled his eyes, ‘You’ve been spending too much time with Uncle Flack and Auntie Stella!’ Lindsay responded with a giggle as the elevator opened.
 
Wow Natty, study break has done you good. Lindsay must be having a private party inside :lol: Loved the interaction with Uncle Mac :guffaw:Moms the word? :devil:
