CSI: DuCaine

Well, it has been established in the series that her father has been battling alcoholism for quite some time. So the part where little Cal is running after her dad driving away is probably because he was going to a bar. Is that correct, Emer?
I loved that scene a lot. Sooo steamy. Wonderful!!!

Here's an update!! :D I love period films, like 'Pride and Prejudice' and 'Sense and Sensibility', so I decided to do a scene from BBC's miniseries, 'Jane Eyre' between Jane and Mr Rochester DuCaine style!! Seeing as there is so much romantic potery in the Fanfic Poetry thread on the Fanfic forum, this is a fitting tribute. This is my favourite scene in the series, as you'll soon see, ;) and I hope you'll enjoy!! It's a bit short, but I'm still debating whether or nor to post the scene I wrote as an 'Open Water' aftermath... might post that during the week... for now, enjoy reading this, and check out 'Jane Eyre' on YouTube too!! :)

COLD OPEN

(Shot of Miami at night.)

Fade in:
(Shot of condo, panning into the bedroom.)

Fade in:
(Shot of Calleigh moving around the bedroom, hanging up her coat
and unclipping her gun, as Horatio's disembodied voice echoes around her.)

HORATIO: You can't hate me, Calleigh. I didn't mean to deceive you.

(Calleigh lays down on the bed, and closes her eyes.)

HORATIO: Unlike you, I cannot live without the warmth of human companionship...
I roam the world, then returning one night to this cold dark place...

Fade in:
(Shot of Horatio and Calleigh sitting on the bed.

Horatio is holding Calleigh's left hand, his other hand behind
her head.

Side shot as they look at each other.)

HORATIO: I saw this... this magical thing. You were in my path...
do you remember?

(Still holding her, Horatio lays Calleigh down, leaning over her.)

HORATIO: And since that moment, I've never wanted to leave the
place that you were. But when you left... waiting for my little bird to
return.

(He kisses her, pulling back, inches from her face.)

HORATIO: We are one, you and I. We have to be together... we're like those
twins, so intertwined in their senses and feelings that they can cry out to one
another across continents so close are their thoughts...

(He kisses her again, his hand running through her hair.)

HORATIO: Oh... say that you don't love me... I dare you. You can't.

CALLEIGH: I won't. I will love you until I die.

(Horatio smiles, kissing her.)

HORATIO: Yet you would leave me... you mean to go your way and for me to
go mine...

CALLEIGH: Yes, sir.

(Horatio chuckles.)

HORATIO: Sir... not Horatio...

(He traces the lines of her face, his fingers gentle.

Her breathing can be heard, as she closes her eyes.)

White flash to:
(The present.

Calleigh opens her eyes, blinking slowly, staring at
the ceiling.

A single tear trails down her cheek.)

Just to talk about the last one: the part where Calleigh's dad drives away might not have necessarily happened, but it seems possible with his drinking problem, that he's heading to a bar alright. Good observations, sorry about any confusion!! :p

Another update coming soon!
:)

Hooray for Victorian romances!!! *Sigh* The highly-personal exchanges between the two in this scene was quite warming indeed. Wonderful.

Okay... this is major angst, so be prepared. This scene came to me a while back, following a repeat of a S4 episode, with a certain someone making Horatio dinner... so I decided to write a missing scene as an aftermath to the episode 'Open Water', which best describes my shock, and indeed Calleigh's shock, at the 'proposal'. I did my best to make it as believable as possible, and many may not agree with Calleigh's emotional state, but the words just flowed out of the pen as I wrote her lines in this one... lyrics are copyright of Evanescenece, and the song is 'Farther Away'. The live version of this song really helped me cope as I typed this, as you'll soon see... comments are welcome as always. You have all been so supportive of my work so far, and I now you'll appreciate the 'new direction' this scene has taken. I'm very proud of this one, I ahve to say. It took guts on my part to post it here, so tell me what you think.

Farther Away

I took their smiles and I made them mine
I sold my soul just to hide the light
And now I see what I really am
A thief, a whore, and a liar

I run to you (far away from this land)
Call out your name (giving up, giving in)
I see you there (still you are)
Farther away

COLD OPEN

(Shot of Miami.)

Fade in:
(Shot of Hummer driving on the road.)

Cut to:
(Long shot of a condo as the Hummer pulls up.)

Cut to:
(Driver's door opening, and Horatio gets out.

He walks up the path, and rings the doorbell.

He stands back, his hands on his hips, looking
down.

The door opens.

Calleigh looks out at him.)

CALLEIGH: Horatio?

HORATIO: Calleigh...

(A beat.

Calleigh still stares in surprise.

Horatio shifts consciously.)

HORATIO: Umm... may I come in?

(Calleigh snaps out of her trance, embarassed.)

CALLEIGH: Yes, sure... come in.

(He steps in the door, and she closes it behind
them.

They walk to the living-room, as Calleigh folds her hands,
looking at Horatio expectantly.)

CALLEIGH: So what's going on?

(Horatio ducks his head, turning from her
slightly.)

HORATIO: Umm... I... I'm not sure where to begin...

(Calleigh remains silent.

Horatio faces her.)

HORATIO:... I don't know how to tell you this...

CALLEIGH: Tell me what?

(Horatio sighs gently.)

HORATIO: Well, I... Marisol...

Cut to:
(Calleigh shutting her eyes.)

HORATIO: Marisol and I have been talking and...

(He pauses.

A beat.)

HORATIO: Cal, she's very sick.

CALLEIGH: I know... Eric's worried. I know I'd be
if I had a sister...

HORATIO: Hmmm... uhh...

(He shakes his head.

Calleigh steps towards him.)

CALLEIGH: Horatio, what is it?

(He looks up.)

HORATIO: I... I don't think she has long to live, Calleigh. I'm
concerned for her... she must be frightened...

(Calleigh looks down, tucking her hair behind her ears.)

CALLEIGH: She's not alone in this... she has her brother and she
has you... lucky girl.

(Horatio chuckles.)

HORATIO: Yeah...

(He becomes serious again.)

HORATIO: Today, she told me... she told me her dying wishes...
and... I said I'd grant them to her.

(Calleigh smiles.)

CALLEIGH: That's really kind of you, Horatio. What'd she say?

(Horatio hesitates, turning and walking a few steps away from her.)

HORATIO: I told her... that whatever she wanted, she could have...
I...

(He lets out a breath, his shoulders slumping.)

CALLEIGH: Horatio...

HORATIO: Mari... she said...

(He looks over his shoulder at Calleigh.)

HORATIO: She said marriage.

(Calleigh freezes.)

CALLEIGH: What?

HORATIO: Marriage... that's her final wish... to be married...

(Calleigh shakes her head.)

CALLEIGH: No, no... NO!!

(She covers her ears, falling to her knees.

Horatio looks at her sadly, moving over to her.

Calleigh suddenly snaps her head up, standing sharply.)

CALLEIGH: Don't come near me!! Stay away...

(Her breathing is fast.)

HORATIO: Calleigh...

CALLEIGH: No... no more... everything... everything you told me...
everything we had... IT WAS ALL A LIE!!

(She turns from him and runs up the stairs, as Horatio stares after her.

Asecond later, he runs up after her, following her to her room.)

HORATIO: Calleigh!

(Calleigh backs away, her eyes wide and her jaw set.)

CALLEIGH: Stay away from me, Horatio. I'll hit you...

(Horatio closes the door.)

HORATIO: I'm not going anywhere... we need to resolve this.

CALLEIGH: I don't care!! You've made your choice!!

HORATIO: I've done no such thing. I don't want to hurt you...

CALLEIGH: Too late, you already have.

HORATIO: Calleigh, I'm not here to argue. I'm telling you now, so you
won't hear it from someone else. I care for Marisol... all I want to do is to
make her happy.

CALLEIGH: Wake up, Horatio! She's dying! She hasn't long to live! What's
the point?

HORATIO: The point is that I am giving a dying girl her dream before she
dies... is that so wrong?

CALLEIGH: It is when she's your colleague's sister... and when someone else
has feelings for you!

HORATIO: I have no choice... I'm marrying Marisol, Calleigh.

CALLEIGH: But what about us?! What about us??!!

(She's screaming now.)

CALLEIGH: I love you!! I love you more than anything, and this is all I get!
What am I to you, Horatio??! Your CSI, your colleague, YOUR WH**E??!!

(Silence.

Horatio stares in shock.)

HORATIO: Don't ever say that about yourself, Calleigh. You are far from that.

(Calleigh covers her face, turning from him, laying down on her bed, her back
to him.)

CALLEIGH: No... I know what I am. I'm not young, I'm not beautiful, I'm not fragile...
I'm old and getting older. I'm not the Bullet Girl anymore... what am I? All I've ever
wanted was to make you proud... make you happy... I guess not.

Cut to:
(Horatio watching her as she speaks.)

CALLEIGH: I'm nothing, Horatio. Nothing to you. I can never make you happy.
You deserve the best, Handsome. I guess I'm not the best.

(At this, Horatio bows his head, his eyes shutting.)

CALLEIGH: I'll never be what you want me to be... I tried, oh God, I tried... I gave you
all that I am... I belong to you... and, now I know that if you love someone, if you want
the best for them, you let them go. And I love you so much...

(A tear makes its way down Horatio's cheek.)

CALLEIGH:... I love you... so I'll let you go... please...

Cut back to:
(Calleigh lying down.)

CALLEIGH: Please go. Leave me be... just go.

Cut back to:
(Horatio atching her still, his eyes watery.

He moves to the right of the screen.)

Cut back to:
(Front shot of Calleigh lying down.

Horatio sits down on the bed, and lies behind her.

Calleigh shuts her eyes, more tears escaping.

Horatio gently strokes her upper arm, leaning in to bury his face in her hair.

Calleigh's eyes open, darting about as he moves to her ear, and down to her
neck, pressing soft kisses to her skin.

Calleigh blinks slowly, and closes her eyes as Horatio kisses her cheek.

Her hand moves to cradle his head, as he kisses away her tears, moving to her mouth.

Calleigh turns back to him, and their lips meet.

Horatio kisses her gently, as more tears leak out of Calleigh's eyes.

She turns over on her back, as Horatio leans over her, his right hand trailing down
to her hip, his left thumb brushing away her tears.

Calleigh wraps her arms around him, hugging him tightly to her, kissing him more.

They continue to kiss, Calleigh sobbing and Horatio breathing heavily.

Calleigh pulls at Horatio's jacket .

He helps get it off, they still kiss as Calleigh flings it away, bringing her arms around his
neck.

He breaks the kiss, kissing her neck.

Calleigh leans back to allow him access. Her bottom lip is trapped between her teeth.)

Try to forget you
But without you I feel nothing
Don't leave me here, by myself
I can't breathe

CALLEIGH: Please don't leave me... Horatio please...

(Horatio meets her eyes agian, regret filling his eyes.

He strokes her cheek, before Calleigh pulls him down again.

She grips his shoulders, before rolling him over.

Her hair covers him like a golden curtain, as his hands rub her back.

She pulls back, gazing at him, her hands threading through his hair.)

CALLEIGH: Horatio...

HORATIO: Oh, Calleigh... what you do to me...

(He rubs his thumb over her lips.)

HORATIO: I can never get enough....

CALLEIGH: Then stay... stay here.

(She takes his hand, softly kissing his fingers.)

CALLEIGH: Stay with me.

HORATIO: Calleigh.

(He turns his head away for a second.)

HORATIO: I have Marisol to consider...

(He looks back at Calleigh.)

HORATIO: I can't leave her...

(Calleigh shuts her eyes, but still holds onto his hand.

She lets out a shaky sigh, before leaning forward to rest her head on his chest.)

CALLEIGH: I'm sorry... I'm being so selfish.

HORATIO: No... you're in love. I know I'd try to stop you if you married someone
else. That's how much I care about you..

(He kisses her hair.)

HORATIO: That's how much I love you.

(Calleigh cries a little, her tears soaking his shirt.)

CALLEIGH: Horatio... I love you....

(She interlaces her fingers with his.)

CALLEIGH You feel this?

(Horatio looks down at her, as she looks up at him.)

CALLEIGH: I'm not letting go... I'm yours. No matter what happens... I belong to you...
only you...

(Horatio smiles gently bringing her up level with his face, kissing her.

He rolls her over, and she wraps her legs around him.

Camera pans backwards out of the room.)

I run to you (far away from this land)
Call out your name (giving up, giving in)
I see you there (still you are)
Farther away
Farther away
Farther away
Farther away
Farther away
Farther away

(FADE TO BLACK.)
