Blue Bloods

From the CHEERS AND JEERS section of the TV Guide~

CHEERS to the career comeback of Tom Selleck as the mustachioed NYC police chief Frank Reagan on CBS's "BLUE BLOODS", bringing a sizeable audience to the usually low-rated Friday schedule. Projecting gruff authority as the patriarch of a crime fighting family, Selleck still packs a Magnum size appeal~

BLOODY DELICIOUS~

From ASK the editors in the latest TV Guide~

Q Loved the "Blue Bloods" nod to Italian restaurant Mother Kelly's. Does somone have a connection?
A It's a wink to my hometown friends", admits Long Island.. raised "Blue Bloods writer Brian Burns. "Mother Kelly's was a popular place for us kids", he says, adding that "their pizza is still great". "I went back about 4 years ago..Terrific! Really held up"

Tv Guide, issue Dec. 20-Jan.2~

You know, upon hearing that they're planning on moving Blue Bloods to Wednesdays, I just might try out this show and if I like it, will hope it does well. That and the concept, maybe I'll give this show a try and see how it meshes with me.

I say this as I toss CSI:NY into the wood-chipper and it's bloody remains flushed into the sewer.

If I don't end up liking it, or it fails and gets cancelled, then oh well. :)

Erin attempts to bring down a notorious gang leader by using his straight-arrow brother as bait

A TV PRODUCER FOR ALL SEASONS!

Viewers of the CBS hit Blue Bloods may feel like they've gone through a time warp when they see executive producer Leonard Goldberg's credit on the screen. One of network TV's most successful execs, he oversaw programming at ABC in the 1960's, produced such hits as Charlie's Angels and Starsky & Hutch, with Aaron Spelling in the 70's and was responsible for some of the most memorable made-for-TV movies of the 80's before heading into film. Goldberg, who turns 77 this month, told us what it's like to be back on the front lines of prime time~

Q Is it still exciting to get something on the air?
A Of course it never gets old but the world of television has changed quite a bit~
Q What's the biggest difference?
A When I was an independent producer, you made a deal with the network and you were responsible financially and creatively. Nowadays there are no real independent producers. Blue Bloods is produced by CBS Studios for the CBS network. I don't quite have the finiancial responsibility for the show, so I don't have the creative freedom I used to have.
Q On Blue Bloods, CBS was said to prefer a police procedural while you and Tom Selleck wanted more emphasis on character development. I heard that you and Tom had to fight to get your way on this?
A Your information is very accurate. I wasn't going to be as involved as I have become.CBS was more comfortable with the procedural elements. That's what they've had their hits with. By the 3rd episode, Tom and I wrested control. We, along with [creators] Robin Green and Mitch Burgess, always saw it more of a character show, we're now doing the show I thought we were going to do~

I looked at his bio on IMDB; he was also the EP for that campy War Games film in the 1980s. HBO used to air that thing 5 times a day. Barry Corbin had some great lines, "Hell, I'd pis$ on a spark plug if I though it would help." "Mr. McKittrick, after very careful consideration, sir, I've come to the conclusion that your new defense system sucks." :D

And shame on the GG's for keeping Selleck out. One of the best new characters in years.

Don't get me started othe Golden Globes, it is a shame [on Tom] but why aren't any CSI's up for anything either? who the H are these people who pick the candidates anyway? and thank's for the trivia on on Goldberg~

Don't get me started othe Golden Globes, [...] who the H are these people who pick the candidates anyway? and thank's for the trivia on on Goldberg~

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) is an organization composed of working journalists who cover the United States film industry for a variety of outlets, including newspapers and magazines in Europe, Asia, Australia and Latin America. Today, the 90 members of the HFPA represent at least 55 countries and have a combined readership of more than 250 million.
Willam Petersen was nominated for Best Actor in 1993. CSI was also nominated for Best Drama Series in 2000, 2001, 2003. Helgenberger also has two nominations.

The Golden Globes are mostly a joke in my opinion, but like the Emmys, they tend to shy away from episodic television.

Thank's Colonel I kinda of knew that, and didn't mean it literally but great link. The thing is, our CSI cast are some of the best actors in the business and to not win is shameful. Like George Eads for "Grave Danger" S/5,there's no way any of them could have watched this and not picked him:confused: and all of them in one episode or another have been astonishing. And Tom Selleck another great actor in this new show and Donnie Walhberg as well. I do think the Academy Awards are probably the best measuring stick to evauluate pure great acting and picking the best one~

A mobster's son is killed at his engagement party. The investigation leads Danny to delve into the Russian mob

TV Guide, issue Jan. 24-Feb.6~

Another great episode, the high and low of the Muslim world. A shooting and the reason becasue this guy who did it, thought he was a threat on his getting the Muslim girl to marry him, [no chance anyway] but he lived and will be working for Reagan, they didn't know. Danny so good so intense and the whole cast and again the family dinner, boy do they eat good:p
