Good news: AL won, and they have home-field for the World Series

Bad news: I had to sit through four hours of listening to Tim McCarver (Read my earlier posts on my feelings on this hack of a color commentator)

TM is such an idiot. What ticks me off the most is the FOX announcers can't even get the names of the players correct when calling the games. For Pete's sake, you'd think they would do their homework on FOX.

This is pretty funny...

Chicagotown to play the World Champion White Sox and in the Red Eye today here are 5 Compliments for Minnesotans:
1 – Your mosquitoes are bigger than US Steel
2 – Minnesota – America’s Manitoba
3 – Nobody blames you for Jesse Ventura
4 – That big mall you got? Amazing pretzels
5 – You’re not North Dakota

I watched the Yankees/Rangers game last night. Another home run in the ninth for the Yanks to win again. I felt sorry for the Rangers, they played a good game.

Not a fan. We don't have baseball in the UK, except really late at night during the week. I'm more of a rugby fan.

Not a fan. Living in England I don't get to see all that much of it anyway but being that my sister-in-law is American she watches baseball a lot so I have seen parts of games - don't udnerstand it all that much. Like 1881, I am more of a rugby fan :)

I caught a bit of the Dodgers/Padres game on Tuesday (or Monday, I'm not sure when it would have been over in USA) except I only saw it for a few minutes and it had no sound :(

but I did figure out which channel it is on cable, so I'm going to get one of my friends to tape the St. Louis/Cubs game on Saturday :D hopefully she'll remember :p

The Dodgers suck. The went from first to last place in the span of two weeks, and to think they are my favorite team :(

Well, I saw that the Cubs won last night/this morning (the time difference still confuses me)
And I'm 98% sure that my friend remembered to record the game for me, so I can't wait to watch it :D
though the coverage went for 3 and a half hours, so I'm not sure if she would've got it all...
oh well, I just can't wait to see it...this is probably the only game I'll get to see in a loooong time ;)

Today, July 30, is the date of birth of the late great Casey Stengle. Born on this day in 1890, he went on to be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame, 1966. Played for the National League's Brooklyn Dodgers (1912-1917), Pittsburgh Pirates (1918-1919), Philadelphia Phillies (1920-1921), New York Giants (1921-1923), and Boston Braves (1924-1925). Manager of the National League's Brooklyn Dodgers (1934-1936), Boston Braves (1938-1943), and New York Mets (1962-65); and of the American League's New York Yankees, 1949-1960.

A couple of his quotes (from IMDB.com):
"Can't anybody here play this game?" (while managing the Mets in 1962)
"This is a team that has come along slowly fast. Gimme another pineapple juice and vodka." (after the 1969 World Series won by the Miracle Mets)
"There's a time in every man's life, and I've had a few of 'em"
