That's what I read at Yahoo or somewhere last year or something, I can't remember. My dad told me that back in 2000 or 2001 some guy told the Congress to fix the economy in the future before it too late. Economy went down because the Congress didn't listen. I don't know if it was Bush or some guy told the Congress.

Let me ask my dad and get back to you.

Have you seen the Ann Couler impersonation oon SNL? It cracked me up!!! it was too good!

NO, I watch it every Sat. too, when was this, and who did her? she's a miserable troll:scream:

Yeah it was only online. For some reason it didn't make the broadcast. If you go to hulu.com it's there. It's a great! I loved most of SNL's political stuff except for two episodes; when McCain and his wife, Cindy, were on, and when Mrs. Sarah Palin came on. Hated both of those episodes. HATED them. And Ann Coulter was mad at the Today Show because the bumped back her interview and she blamed it on Matt Lauer and a few other people. She's crazy. She was on the View, which I don't usually watch because I can't understand what is going on half the time, but anyways, she was on The View and the ladies tore her a new one, even Hassleback the wench. The pretty much called her a loon. It was quite amusing. It's on youtube now as a matter of fact.

Thank's Kimbo08 I'll check it out, and I saw part of 'The View" with her, and how she was nasty to Barbara Walters, and Hasselbeck is so anal, I think she's going to have some kind of attack if she doesn't calm down. My daughter refuses to ever watch Coulter, she's a vicious sick individual:scream: How does she get up everyday and do these sick twisted interviews? Is she a happy person? I just think that the nation needs to 100% back our new President and help him, and support him and not batter, berate, belittle and find fault in all he says and does, but say "Hey things are going to improve" I know they are:bolian:

I'm agree with you 100%. That is the only way this country is going to prosper. If we all divided, nothing is going to get any better. The sooner people understand that, the better.

No, problem desertwind! And I agree about Ann Coulter. She is psychotic. One of my professor's LOVES her. He knows that most of us can't stand her, yet he reads five pages of her new book to us everyday, just to make us angry. I find it the perfect time to slip my iPod on! But anyways, I had no idea how she felt about the 9/11 widows, how she feels about single mothers, and how she feels about democrats. I knew she was an extremely radical conservative, but I never knew how sick she really was until he read the book to us. And the sad part is, he believes every word she says. It's quite sick. If someone as intelligent as him believes her, then think of all the dip sticks out there who agree with her. Scary, scary thing.

these people are downers, and should shut-up:klingon: there's a line between freedom of speech and over the line... here's some more news about President Obama, and a poll about "how's he doing"

http://news.aol.com/main/politics/obama-presidency

While I agree that Rush is pathetic, free speech is there for a reason... While he says a lot of crappy stuff, it's all legal, and should, IMO, remain so. The First Amendment is there to protect controversial statements of all political ideologies, even the ones that we dislike.

I will have to agree. Although some people say stupid, false crap, it's freedom of speech and should be allowed to be said, no matter how much I hate it.

I walked out of my professor's class when he told me "Kim, I'm so proud of you. You are an 18 year old black female who doesn't have five children running around. You're going to school to better yourself. You're definitely in the minority." My mouth hit the floor. I couldn't believe it! I reported him, but he's been a professor at the school for more than thirty years, meaning, they won't do anything. So to answer your question desertwind yes, I raise my question quite often, along with fifty other students. But there is only so much I can do :(.

^^^ :wtf:

That's brutal! I hope you were quick to realize that most people are hopefully not going to be thinking that. The only thing I think that could hold people back from getting into school is the overwhelming cost of it all.

Is race and/or gender always going to come up? Sheesh. Just when you think people are finally getting it... What a shame. Then again, people are making such a big deal out of Obama being a black president, it's sort of a dual edged sword, isn't it? I mean, it's fantastic that people are finally starting to realize that brilliant and capable are traits not assigned to any particular colour (or race, or gender). And yet in a way it sort of works against the equalization process if people keep dwelling on it... That's a tough one. But hopefully in 20 years it won't even require notice. People of all races and genders will be equally respected.

Clearly I'm a bit of a dreamer! Still, without hope, what have you got? ;)

That's a hugh kudo Kimbo08 congrat. and I'll bet your teacher is really proud of you, good job. For me, I grew up in L.A. and like Stephen Colbert, I don't see color, I've had black people treat me way better than white people, but their was such a mix of races and ethnicity in my suroundings, that I've been with ever type and color there is:)plus the fact that President Obama is half white, I get so sick of the race card relating to him.. anyway here's another letter about what's-his-face:(and Baba I totally agree with you take on this too!

Rush shows disloyalty
About the time that I figured out that George W. Bush had nothing going on upstairs was about the time I [literally] tuned out Limbaugh He places idology above country and belongs to the far right fringe, many of whom also believe that God is a white conservative Republican male. Limbaugh's stating that he "hopes Obama fails" is blatant disloyalty. Obama is everything that Bush was not. we need a successful leader, and I hope and know Obama will succeed!

Here's some view and opinions for the younger set about our new President:bolian:

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA'S INTIAL PEFORMANCE AS PRESIDENT..SO FAR?

Signs of change
We've never had a president come inot office with more stacked against him that Obama, and I think he's done a good job, so far. Regardless of a person's opinion on Obama's politics, no one can deny that he has been proactive in his efforts to slove some of America's biggest problems. Obama has worked to stop the torture of terrorism suspects and launched diplomatic discussions with Iraq and it's neighbors. He's encourging the production of fuel-efficent cars to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions. It is a busy life that our new president leads, but with our support, the question of whether he will move our country forward through positive change will be answered YES WE CAN

A dilligent effort President Obama has been forthcoming and dilligent and he seems to be striving to fulfill his campaign promises. He has had difficulties with some of his Cabinet appointments but that is to be expected. Obama is doing his best, which is characteristic of the first few months of any commander in chief. I seems that some people think Obama is infallible. He cannot single handedly cure our economic woes, nor can he unite two political parties, with different agendas. America must make great strides if Democrats and Republicans are to unite for the betterment of the country. We should be realistic regarding Obama's powers to effect change AND REFORM THE NATION!

A capable leader
In his first few days in office, Obama has proven to be precisely what he seemed during his campaign, a capable, calm and organized leader. He quietly and swiftly acted to reverse the most outrageous abuses of the Bush administration, while he moved toward redressing America's economic problems. The president has done a remarkable job over the past few weeks!

Impressive firsts
So far Obama has impressed me. His stimulus bill is a major legislation for a new president to puch through Congress and he has reversed many of the previous administrations tired policies. He has taken Washington on headfirst and hit the ground running, despite extreme partisan opposition and several problematic picks. I am eager to see what Obama does next and once the economy starts to recover, our new president will begin engineering the change that he promised during his campaign!

So how do you guys feel on his latest "issues"? The teacher/union issue? The renewed stem cell research? Just curious.

Well, for me Baba I'm for both of these especially the "stem cell' research, it'll do alot of good, and here's a new-up-date on him, and how he's doing, I was stunned to see these poll results:eek: People are hard to fugure out. I back him 100%, and know if given the time, he will fulfill his campaign promises and help our country out of this mess~

I support him fully, but I honestly think it's impossible for anyone to fulfill all campaign promises. Campaign promises are there, no matter the campaign, party and/or candidate, to win voters. Seriously, when's the last time a president actually met all campaign promises? I'd be willing to bet that it was during the 1800's, when there was, aside from a few mostly-wartime presidencies, very little power situated in the federal gov't, and especially little in the executive branch. The goal is to win voters. Then, ideally, it pretty much follows that saying -- shoot for the moon, and you'll land in the stars. I don't think Obama will reach the moon, but I think he will do well, and land in the stars.

This nation has a lot of issues. No single man can solve them all. I find it really frustrating how people just look to Obama to basically be the nation's savior. No superman could do it all. Fixing this country takes a lot of work from EVERYONE, not just from Obama and his cabinet. If people want to fix something, then they should stop complaining and start volunteering, being more conscientious with energy usage, investing more AND more intelligently, donating to non-profits and just doing everything they can to make the world, and this country, a better place. Basically, people need to get off their butts, stop complaining and do something. I'd especially like to see Rush Limbaugh and his ilk get off their sorry a**es and do something productive -- clean up a local park or volunteer at a soup kitchen or SOMETHING. Inertia, apathy and complaints just don't accomplish anything.

I didn't know Bush ban cell thing or something.

I have to agree with happyharper about people need to get off their butt and help out other clean the mess around the world. What about New Orlean? (I might be spelling it wrong.) They need help and they haven't been up for 4 or 5 years, I think. and People who use to live in Ne Orlean haven't been back for a long time.

Let's hope that Obama's slogan, "Yes We Can" inspires others... I read this yesterday and I swear my eyes welled up:

This is the stuff that makes a country great- when its citizens work together to help each other. Yeah, I know that sounds pretty trite, but like you've all said, how many people are just going to sit back and hope the new golden boy will solve all their problems? He said "Yes we can", not "Yes I can." ;)
