With regards to the Troops.. U.S. Military to Reduce Iraq Presence Two Months Early - <Snips> "Spurred by a continued decline in violence, the U.S. military will reduce its presence in Iraq from 16 combat brigades to 14 this month, at least two months earlier than planned." --- "President-elect Barack Obama has said he wants to withdraw combat troops from Iraq in 16 months, and he has recommended increased U.S. forces in Afghanistan."

Can we render me shocked? Conservative Elizabeth Hasselbeck Supporting Barack Obama <SNIP> "The View's conservative cutie Elizabeth Hasselbeck stunned viewers today by throwing her support behind president-elect Barack Obama" --- "Hasselbeck said the massive voter turnout and the excitement of the presidential contest inspired her. "I will get in a long line of supporters … for this president," she said."
So then I have to ask this, did she suddenly get inspired OR did she change her mind because of the show? There is some thought.

*sigh* This has been a complaint amongst alot of people stars and not.
Report: Cops Called After Tim Robbins Told He Couldn't Vote <SNIP> "Actor Tim Robbins was not happy when told he would have to vote by provisional ballot in New York on Tuesday." -- "The actor and well-known liberal activist became enraged when officials at his usual polling location in New York informed him that his name was not on the register, the Web site reports. Polling authorities asked him to fill out a provisional ballot instead of using the machine."

P-L-E-A-S-E on Elizabeth Hasselbeck what a two faced phony:scream: I can't stand her anyway, and she was so admantly against Obama.. sickening and quite unbelieveable:confused: I got turned away and had to go back home because I had on my Obama T-shirt, I was livid, it was considered solicitation:rolleyes: whatever.. If I had of known I wouldn't have worn the damn thing.. rules:klingon: my daughter was at the polls from 7 am till 10 pm A really long day and got $100 bucks with one 1/2 hr. break:eek: He's already doing his transition thing and thank's Destiny for the link on the troop withdrawal

We're all over the moon, a steep hill to climb at times, but he took us over the top:thumbsup: and much thank's to OHIO, PENSYLVANIA, & FLORIDA:beer:for your electoral votes, and my own golden state CALIFORNIA, for 55 electoral votes, what a glorious historic day in America.. go Obama and YES WE CAN

On behalf of my fellow Pennsylvanians I say "you're welcome" and thanks to everyone else!

You know here's a funny story,I had gotten in a really big fight with a friend I gre wup with four days before the election.I tried to call her to work it out but she didn't answer and today she called me and the first thing she said was about the election.I live in California and everyone I know was excited about Obama winning. It's funny though how his win brought me and her back together after a really bad fight.I guess it goes to support the thought that people put their diffrences aside for one day to talk about the history of the New president

Perfect way of describing my thoughts. I think a new perspective will be a good thing for America. Congrats to President Elect Obama!

You're welcome from Missouri too....oh wait, we're still counting votes!

It's still too close to call here. At the moment there is a difference of only about 5800 votes out of about 2,900,000. A fraction of a percent. So they have to count the 7100 provisional ballots. They're saying we probably won't know for sure until about Nov 18th. A little anti-climactic  At the moment it looks like we'll be a red state again (but I'm still hoping that changes this year)

I wanna put my thoughts in on this election.
But first I wanna share a couple of politic stories involving my family that my late half-brother told and I still remember.
1st story: My half-brother said if you wanted to get my mom's mother mad and get on her bad side, just mention Herbert Hoover.
2nd story: My half-brother told how one time him, mom, my dad-his stepfather were in Virginia visiting my father's family. I'm not sure if I was still in mom or I was already born. Anyway, my half-brother told that he said something kinda negative about Nixon and he talked like one of my dad's brothers really let him have it verbally.

Now my thoughts on this election.
I believe this is the most historic election America will have until we break some more barriers and do the following:
1...Let someone like California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger or late-night talk-show host Craig Ferguson who are not born American citizens but instead had to take an American Citizenship test to earn their American Citizenship run for President and be elected.
2...Elect a woman President. We came close with Hillary Clinton but in the end Barack Obama got the Democratic nomination.
3...Elect a Hispanic President. Like George Lopez or Erik Estrada.
4...Elect a President of Asian decent. Only famous person I can think of...Like George Takei.
4...Elect as President a half Hispanic and half Black or half Hispanic and half Asian woman who had to earn her American Citizenship.
:lol:Number 4 would be the most historic of the 4.
I'm thrilled, tickled pink, happy, excited, overjoyed, glad, grateful, hyper, jazzed, pumped and just plain ecstatic that Barack Obama won. I think he'll surprise everyone and be a really good President. During the campaign Obama's age and experience became an issue. I think America needs someone young who is not a seasoned politician that's been in Washington DC a long time. Someone with new ideals and a new perspective on how to deal with all the problems Obama faces as President. The economy, the 2 wars-Afghanistan and Iraq, etc. Last night around 11 PM here in Alabama when I turned my tv back on after having it off a couple hours, I learned Barack Obama won. I can't put into words just how thrilled, tickled pink, happy, excited, overjoyed, glad, grateful, hyper, jazzed, pumped and just plain ecstatic I was. I haven't felt like that since the first election I voted in back in 1992 when the candidate I voted for, Bill Clinton, won his first term as President. Back in 1992 when Clinton was elected I just felt like a BIG black cloud had been lifted off of America and like the sun was starting to shine through. Like we had reached rock bottom and the only direction left to go was up. I felt that way again last night. I know not everyone is gonna like what I just said. I know not everyone wanted Obama to win. But, you know what??? That's ok. You're entitled to your opinion and the freedom to express it. Just like I'm entitled to my opinion and the freedom to express it. We're entitled to agree to disagree. I'll tell you this, to me, that's one of the things that makes America a great place to live.

And I proud to be an American where at least I know I'm free
(Marting Luther King: Free at last. Free at last. Thank God Almighty we are free at last)
And I won't forget the men who died who gave that right to me
(Sounds of men screaming when they're hit by enemy fire and other men screaming "Man down" or yelling for medics)
And I'd gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today
(Sounds and images of the raging wars in Afghanistan and Iraq with images of and video messages from their families back here in America overlapping on top of it)
Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
(Large crowd of people at Ground Zero in New York with their right hands over their hearts and holding up small American flags with their left hands)
God bless the U.S.A.
(A GIANT American Flag shaped like America and includes Alaska and Hawaii)

^^That^^ is a verse from Lee Greenwood's song "God Bless the U.S.A".
Under each line of the song in parentheses is what the line made me think of.
Well, I've said what I wanted to say. Well, there is one more thing I want to say.
CONGRATULATIONS BARACK OBAMA AND JOE BIDEN!!!

Craig Ferguson as President...that I would like to see. I love Craig, he's my guilty late-night pleasure.

Amen, with the "God Bless the USA". I think that really sums up what we as Americans stand for, believe in, fight for, and in too many cases, die for. Beautiful. I don't think I could have said it any better myself.

Anyways, everyone always says that West Virginia is a Democrat state, but we usually vote Republican. I'm not sure how that whole state wide political thing works out, but we do. Actually, almost everyone that I talked to both before and after the election liked John McCain better, very few were for Obama, so lots of unhappy people in the state today. A bit cranky too. Apparently we are a big gun rights state, and Republicans are big gun rights people - or something like that. I just know we gave John Kerry a gun as a gift when he gave a speech here last election, and I'm pretty sure he was really against them. Yeah, we're smart like that. ;)

So, sorry Obama people, we were of no help to you. Not that you needed it, so it seems. :)

This is the time for all Americans to unite and put our differences aside for the good of the country, and hope this new magic man will start to solve the mess the last 8 years have gotten us into. We need to all support him and his team, and back him up and not splinter to the wind. Lets give him a chance to prove all the things he's promised, and get America back on track:thumbsup: YES WE CAN

CHANGE WE NEED..YES WE CAN

I agree. Once he is officially president, and if he doens't keep to his promises, then I can understand people roasting him. But until then, all you have is what he says on face value. At least wait until he puts some policies in motion. At, least that's MHO...

Not to disagree with anyone on anything,I Honestly think in my own opinion that it will be extremely hard to clean up the mess bush left behind.I have faith in the man but,it's like he said during his speech,It will take a long time to fix things and maybe more then one term.He has a lot on his plate already and I get the feeling that the pace that needs to be taken a lot of people would feel it be to slow, but slow and steady wins the race. Here I believe we all deserve a change of pace for once,it feels as if the last things through the years happened way to fast and way to quick for our own good.So I think if we take the next for years slow and one step at a time, then maybe, the change will finally come out - Si se Puede (yes we can)

^^^ That's the right attitude, I think. People have to understand that it's going to be a tough few years while they try to get things moving in the right direction. It's important that people be realistic. But the changes have to start somewhere, and with patience they'll hopefully pay off. I'm as much of an "instant gratification" type as the next person, but now is the time to be realistic... while remaining positive. :)

Again, I'm so jealous of your leadership! I never thought I'd be saying that!

Thank's Baba were a lucky nation right now, I thought I couldn't get through any more of that guy who's been in there for waaaay too long, and BTW rent 'RECOUNT' the movie about the corruption of the Florida election/disaster when Al Gore was running, he actually won.. but that was then and this is now. We're also thrilled with his wife Michelle, she's sharp, smart interesting, funny, down to earth, charming and pretty, she'll be a great asset to him and to us. And his adorable little daughters, Melia and Sasha, and now they get a puppy he promised them:lol: And Joe Biden and his lovely wife Lynn as well:thumbsup:

NINE WORLD LEADERS CONGRATULATE OBAMA

Presidential-elect Barack Obama accepted congratulations from 9 presidents and prime ministers Thursday, returning calls from world leaders, who reached out after his victory. The global financial crisis was among the topics Obama discussed with key U.S. allies he'll deal with during his administration. Obama spokesman Stephanine Cutter said the president-elect spoke to Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd Candian Prime Minister Stephen Harper French president Nicolas Sarkozy German Chancellor Angela Merkel Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert Japanese Prime Minister Taro Ase Mexican president Felipe Calderon South Korean president Lee Myung-bak and British Prime Minister Gordon Brown:thumbsup:

A letter too our editor!

Most Americans were getting pretty tired of the Republican Party and rightly so. Now, in contrast to Pres. Bush, we have a president who has the depth, brains, vision, temperament, judgement and the right ideas and priorities to be a great leader!

Name witheld
Fontana CA.

Did you see him and Bush and the ladies tour the White House, what a historic day. And everyone seemed so cordial:) Obama is LEO birthsign, and Michelle is a CAPRICORN, just a bit of trivia on them> anyone got ideas about what kind of doggie the girls should have?

BARACK

MICHELLE

So their security names were released yesterday. What the heck? How are they secure if everyone knows them? Any thoughts?
