As a Canuck, I was thrilled to see Obama win.

That guy is amazing! I think he's the best thing to happen to the US in a long time.

He's got new ideas, fresh ideas and I hope to God he can put America back on its feet as even here in Canada, our economies are so intertwined that if US goes down, we eventualy the effects sooner or later.

So let's hope things improve for everyone's sake.

And I hope Canada gets its Obama, but knowing us, we'd be too chicken xhix to vote for someone that amazing.

I love Canada, but the apathy stupifies.. I mean look at our boring Prime Minister than look Obama :guffaw::guffaw:

Obama rocks!!!!

It is this ideal that won him the election. Unfortunately, it is a poor mindset. I don't mean any insult to you personally, and I don't expect you to be an expert on American politics. The reality of the matter is that Obama is extremely niave. His ideas are not only niave but unrealistic. If the past 8 years were bad, the next 4 will be downright horrible.

He won because he's a media star. He's young and "cool" and won big with the young crowd. But he has almost no experience in politics and his niave promises reflect that. God save the country.

Well, I'm a Canadian as well and I'm also thrilled. It's been awhile since I was jealous of the leader you have... Now WE have the neo-con, partisan A-hole running our country, and you're about to give one the heave-ho. Like I said, I'm jealous!

Fair enough, some people may think the guy won due to his "cult of personality". Maybe. But I believe the general consensus is that, factual missteps or not, he won all the debates against McCain (who also had some of the aforementioned missteps). I'm not a novice to politics, and I'm probably more familiar with US policy than our own, and I don't think his promises are naive. What has the world come to when trying to be optimistic in the face of poor odds is a bad thing? Clearly the American people feel the same way.

Time will tell if he's got the cahones to run the show. But I, like the President Elect, plan to remain optimistic. :)

Yay! Obama (would have been bigger yay if it was Hillary ;) )!
No... I didn't want to wake up at 2m to watch the results, I still haven't recovered from our own elections bit over a week ago :p
But it's great. Now US has president that rest of the world can respect.

Erm.. what has little muslim blood to do with anything? Nothing. If I have had criminal somewhere in my family, long distance relative - does it make me possible criminal too? My greatgrandfather was probably a communist.. does that make me a communist too?
Thoughts like that are not... I am sorry, but sounds like a very desperate way to find something against him that really isn't.
I remember the big fuss about current president when she was first elected because a) she wasn't married and b) she wasn't memeber of the [Lutheran] church - but it passed by fast.

Oh I know, I don't mean to sound mean or anything but to me having a president with Muslim blood, isn't going to help the war in Iraq. To me he'll be more sympathetic to them then the United States' in general. Of course he'll probably start to get the troops out of there, but is it to bring them home or to protect the Iraqis?

I hope I make sense and if they're already people who have plotted to have him killed, how many people are going to do more plotting and/or possibly execute, I don't wish any kind of danger on Obama, I'm just trying to make a point, that is what his forum is for, for us to voice our opinions?

But I guess on a slightly brighter side, no more Busch ... I'll drink to that :)

Okay so I had to take a BIG breath beofre responding. My original post was not so kind...

He has the smallest amount of Muslim blood in him. Not to mention, he has had little to no contact with his father in YEARS, so that's not why. He's doing it because its the right thing to do. They should have never been over there in the first place.

If you listened to unbiased news sources, such as CNN, MSNBC, AOL, and Yahoo, then you would know the truth. If you stick to Fox, then that's where you made a mistake. You picked a conservative based news organization who has done nothing but help perpetuate the "Obama is a terrorist!" lie over the recent months. Sickening how the American people are persuaded isn't it...

I was wondering when all of the republicans we're gonna come out and play. You guys were quite for too long. I knew you guys would come out once Obama won. But, you guys will see. I honestly believe that each and everyone of you will be proven wrong. Democrats bring good luck to the economy.:) I mean, Bush got hold of the reigns and drove this country straight to hell. Who's too say McCain wouldn't have done the same thing. Ever heard of voting for the lesser of two evils? Well that's what happened.

And of course he has people that want to kill him. And it's only because of the color of his skin, which is another reason why this country is so pathetic.

And DaWacko is only speaking the truth. You're opinion is so far off base that is embarassing to even read. Whether she is a mod or not is irrelevant. Your "opinions" aka "brain washed mentality" is angering and has little fact as it's base, which is why I (we) are ripping it to pieces.

Once you say it the way you did, it's no longer opinion and it is seen as fact, which is another reason why it is totally able to smashed, IMO.

I'm not American, but I have to say that when I listened to Obama making his acceptance speech, I was very moved and feeling very patriotic and hopeful for the future.

Congratulations to President Barack Obama - I think he's going to do great things.

Congrats to President-elect Barack Obama and his supporters. It's time the US came in line with the rest of the world.

So now a user is saying I am brained washed! I guess all my opinions are brainwashed mentality, if so what are yours? Where does it say on this forum that we can't post our opinions, without getting them thrown in our faces :wtf: it's because of posts like that that I usually try to stay clear of sections like this. Geez all I'm trying to say is I'm wondering how the withdraw of the troops is going to be ... never mind I guess my opinion isn't worth being heard. It's kind of weird that we're in a forum where we're supposed to be able to post our opinions and feed back on the elections and who won and I get blasted for using my freedom of speech ... since it seems that you guys have nothing better to do than to blast my views when other people have said worse, I will not post in this forum again, I guess I'll just keep my views to myself!

Jacquie, I think you need to lay down some law in here.

Ditto :)! Also I don't think him having Muslim Blood is a problem but I'm Muslim so I guess I would be more likely to say that :). Anywayz congrats to Obama! :).

Wow you guys are all brutal.Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and own views no matter what they are.I think if we can't celebrate a new president then at least celebrate the fact that the eight years Bush gave us is finally over.

Getting back on track.I think it's great Obama won.Seeing someone who came from nothing is amazing to see.Not because the color of his skin but because he made it a point to bring the voice of change.I'd realized that anything Bush has ever said made no sense.Being able to sit there with my mom and listen to his speech was amazing.Listening to him speak of what America was made of and why we are all still standing today was amazing. My mom proved a really good point to me.She told me that when it was my time to have kids and they read about the election in the history books that I will be able to tell them I was there and about how amazing it was to see over 100,000 Americans put their differences aside for one night to come together to welcome a glimmer of change.I'd be able to tell them that I saw this man sit there and address people all over the world. It will the best thing to be able to tell my future children that they can indeed be what ever they wanted to be,no matter what strain of life they come from.

This election proves that American isn't just a group of mixed up people but a group of people who can put their differences aside when the time comes. All in all I'm happy to call this man,Barrack Obama my President.

I'm with Shazza and Jacquie I don't care what kind of blood he has,or his color for that matter,I think he will bring change for the better

Again I didn't say anything bad about him having Muslim blood ... I was just wondering how that will affect the removal of the troops ... I just don't like having stuff thrown in my face and people saying that my opinions/thoughts don't mean squat. And thanks to future_cop who realizes that everyone does have opinions :) I'm glad to see Busch go :)

Actually your opinon does matter, and you've raised a good point. I agree it will have implications on the removal of the troops...I don't know what plans he has for the troops or the general on going 'War On Terror' but he needs to think carefully about what he's gonna do about the current situation in Iraq, the removal of troops may not be a good thing for the Iraqi people.

Ok I'm not sure where this is coming from BUT please everyone be respectful of each other. This board is full of opinions and they may not fit yours but they fit someone's thoughts. Again be respectful of each other.

Nikky if there is anymore problems please pm me with the details :)

Now back to celebrating Obama's victory :)

^ my roommate didnt like either candidate, but would have voted for mccain (she never did the absentee ballot) because of that reason. seriously, some americans need to get the hell over themselves. i am so glad obama won, and like Baba said as a canadian i am jealous of your leader

i am extremely disappointed with california though, looks like proposition 8 passed :(

I am a mod as well here.
Your opinions matter, I understand you don't like Obama, you didn't want him to be President and you wonder what he'll do with the troops in Iraq. I do understand that. Like shazza said.
But saying that he has little of Muslim blood in him, has something to do with that... Seriously. Why it had to be brought up? You could have just said what you felt and how you see things, without "because there's a little Muslim blood running in his veins" I hope you see my point here.

I believe Obama is american. Proud american and will do what is best for his country. Or at least tries :p
