Here's an interview I translated for Pusher and all the other Sofia's fans…
It’s from “TV Sorrisi e Canzoni” ( our best tv magazine)
Thanks to the worldwide success of «CSI: Miami», where she played for three years, Sofia Milos is one of the most requested actresses of the American TV. Two years ago, when the producers decided to eliminate her character (Columbian detective Yelina Salas), thousands of fans protested so deeply to obtain her coming back for two episodes of the fifth season, we will watch on Italia 1 on September. ( Unfortunately we have to wait two months again to watch it)
Despite these successes, few people, in our country, know that Sofia is Italian. I’ ve noticed it for the first time when I read this article two weeks ago)But she didn't anything to hide it. «Maybe this happens because of my last name» she tries to explain. «When I'm in Rome people always watch me curiously. They think to recognize me, but when they listen to me speaking Italian very fluently, they think I just look like her». Sofia took advantage from her brief roman vacation to tell to «Sorrisi» about her experience in the U.S.A and to revail her future projects.
Q: «Since when do you work for the american tv? »
A:«It's almost 14 years. Since my début in “Café Americain” to my return to “CSI: Miami” I've shot 197 episodes. It's a record for an Italian actress».
Q: «How did you feel when the producers told you the didn't want to renew your contract for «CSI: Miami»?»
A:«I felt so bad. When they told me it I was in Italy to stay with my father who was living his last days. At the beginning I was very angry, but then the gratitude to the producers prevailed. Thanks to them, I've been part of the cast of the most watched show of the world for three years. This is a rare chance that happens to few actresses. Because once you are in the family of “CSI”, you won't exit really. Scott Lautanen, one of the producers, told me so».
Q: « When will we see Yelina again? »
A:«She will be there for two episodes of the fifth season, and also for the pilot one of the sixth season. They will start shooting it on July in Miami. So I'll have to break up these holidays to be there».
Q: «After all these years in the U.S.A do you feel italian again?
A:«I'm more than Italian, the same thing occurs to my friends and my fiancé (designer Alessandro Martorana, ndr). But now U.S.A are my home. I love their professionalism. In Italy every day it gets more difficult to find it. I always hope that things will change, as would love to work in this beautiful country where my family lives. When I shot “Lo zio d’America”, with Christian De Sica and Ornella Muti, I really had fun».
Q: «How do you explain the differences between Italian and American fiction and telefilms? »
A:«Certainly it's a question of budget. To shoot one episode of “CSI: Miami”, it takes 12 hours per day for 8 days. There's also a very strong competition between the actors, only the best ones win. As I noticed it I started studying. In Italy, instead, it often occurs the opposite, the lucky ones win. You can notice it from the quality of the final product».
Q: «What do you usually do during your spare time in L.A.? »
A: «In my spare time like showing my creativity. I paint aquarelles and I will show my first collection of dresses very soon, in few months. I also practice Pilates, and when I have some time I love walking with my friends on the beach. I also love cooking especially Lasagne and Gnocchi ».
Q: « Is there any Hollywood celebrity among your friends? »
A:«Actually, I have few famous friends as Jamie Foxx but when we meet we never talk about work. In My spare time I prefer having fun or relaxing».
Q: «Who were your idols when you were young? »
A: «I’ve always admired Anna Magnani, the most talented product of the Italian cinema. I also like Sofia Loren, especially because she got Hollywood. And also Totò. In my house, in Los Angeles, I’ve got a gigantography of the spaghetti scene in “Miseria e nobiltà”».
Q: « Did you take anything from Rome in your house in California? »
A: «Some doilies of my mother Angelica. When I see them, I feel her next to me. I also think about her love she put in making them. I always cry. Two years ago, when my father died, she stayer with me her in L.A. for a month. Despite of the distance, we are a family, a very joint family».
sorry for my poor English.....but it's since a lot I don't study it
