Yelina Salas #2: 'Get Back To Where You Once Belonged'

wow 29 years of marriage !!! am i the only one H/Y shipper who is single :p... anyway... silk i`m glad to know that u had fix ur life :) i promise to try see and enjoy few more epis from 'Desire'. hope u will have chance to watch 'Sopranos' - if i remember right (sorry, too late here) SM play only in two epis but remember part :) i agree with u that in some points CSI Miami drag her back - in meaning she have big actor potential and have to show it on the screen.. come one TPTB do something :)

Thanks guys. Yes, actually I did post a thank-you message on her website some time ago. In it I explained my story and my gratitude to her. However, I have never quite had the nerve to e-mail her personally. Don't want to seem like an obsessed fan and to be honest, I have never revealed the real initial inspiration for my hard work to my husband. I'm not sure why except that I don't want him to misunderstand my motivation. Although SM is the one who inspired me in the beginning, I did it for myself and for my marriage. My husband's love and support and his woo hoo positive attitude at my going from a size 18 to a size 6 is what kept me motivated and what has inspired me to keep it off. I guess I didn't really want her to make a big deal of it but wanted her to know that she had made a small difference in my little corner of the world. Thanks for the words of encouragement though. You guys are great.

wow silk your story's an inspiration to me too. Well I've only been married 5 years but your story's so nice and touching. (sorry OT)

But yeah I think most women would want to look like SM she's really hot. I'd like to have curves like that

So this is where everybody is!

Silk, its almost creepy the story you told, because it could have been me talking to myself. :) I have never said this to anyone, especially not my husband (who would think I had totally gone around the bend), buy H/Y were an inspiration to me, as well. For you I understand it was Sofia, but for me it was the wonderful chemistry between them that stirred those little wiggly feelings in the pit of my stomach again! :p It brought back some 'young' feelings I hadn't felt in awhile. :) My husband has no clue what prompted my new behavior, but he is still benefitting from it! I think that's why I love this couple so much and so want to see that chemistry again! :)
(Amazing, the power of TV!)

Here is a gift to you from me, and you can also thank Pusher, who taught me how to do it. . .

btw, we've been married 31 years. Wonder what these young chicks think of us old ones in this thread?

Lovely pic! :D

I have always found H/Y and their chemistry really inspiring too. I also love female characters like Yelina, who are independent, strong-minded, intelligent, but compassionate with it. I admire them no end! Slightly off topic, but I love the character of Laura Roslin in BSG for the same reasons.

For the record, it will be my 10th Wedding Anniversary in August! I'm an in-between chick when it comes to age! ;)

You think all of us are chicks? I don't get the feeling there are any guys here. Guess they're not into shipping!

Meant to say that I have not been able to see Desire. It's not my kind of thing either, but I'd love to see Sofia be bad! Maybe it will be rerun.

Congrats on 10 years!

Doesn't Sofia look great for someone almost 42 years old!?! I hope she doesn't 'have a lot of work done' on herself. I would love to see her be an example of a beautiful and vivacious woman aging gracefully.

Thank you! :) Very few men post here, but there are a couple of male H/Y fans on the Board.

I'm not sure if we will get 'Desire' on TV in the UK. I hope we do, as Sofia is always so good to watch. She was really amazing in The Sopranos (Season 2, episodes 4 & 13). :)

Bless you, Dragonlady! And yes this is eerie, our similar circumstances. Maybe I didn't make myself clear enough but it WAS the chemistry between the two that inspired me. However, I can't try to paint myself in the image of DC. That would just be oogie and I don't look as good in the sunglasses-of-justice as he does. But like yours, my husband has benefitted in oh so many ways and has no idea why. Just thought I was having the opposite of a mid-life crisis in the best possible way. Wow.31 years. Your a long-timer too! Congratulations! A lesson to those younger people out there who think marriage becomes old and stale the longer you are together. Only if you let it be so. And in order to have a good love life and happy marriage sometimes you have to be willing to give more than your getting and re-invent yourself to keep it spicy but it is oh-so worth it because when you give in a loving relationship, the other partner generally feels more loved and gives back in kind. Make sense. OT and preachy. Sorry
I have always felt like an old-timer here. Not knowing everyone's age kind of leaves you in the dark and I thought maybe I was going through my second 'twenty-hood' or something. Good to know that I am in good company. SM and DC let the good times roll in Season 6! So Say We All!

Forgot to add: Thanks for the beautiful pic. Should put it on the fridge to fight temptation on this holiday weekend. Wanna look just like that when I grow up!

My goodness the ladies of CSI:M hold their ages well! I really don't think she will have any work done - Mediterranean ladies age well. Look at Sophia Loren, and Melina Kanakaredes from CSI:NY is 40 this year, too. The good diet and lovely sea air treat them well. ;)

I must be about the only one who finds the H/Y relationship a bit icky. I mean, she was married to his brother, who wasn't even really dead! EW!! *ducks tomato thrown at head*. Sorry, just me....

Congratulations to the long marriages - 10 years and 31 years! Bravo!! :)

Welcome HoratioStalker! :D
I mean, she was married to his brother, who wasn't even really dead!
Well, they didn't know he wasn't really dead until the last few episodes of Season 3. Plus, you can't help who you fall in love with. I find the slightly unconventional storyarc of H/Y fascinating partly because of the 'should they/shouldn't they' angle. It's wonderfully complicated! ;)

I guess that's part of what makes H so noble is that he resists fully falling for her or at least acting on what he feels because she was his brother's wife. I don't know if it's already been discussed previously, but I wonder if Y dated Rick just to make H mad/upset/etc. to see what kind of reaction she could get from him, and then when H comes in like the knight in shining armor he so often is to boot Rick out once and for all, she knows for sure where they stand. Rambling, sorry....

We have discussed this before in the H/Y thread, and I don't see the problem with falling for his bro's wife, but I know there are several people who really have a difficult time with it. I feel that R was/is dead and why should it make a difference? The only thing I can see from that point, is H feeling as tho' he were trespassing on some one else's property (she's property? eeeuuuuuwwww!), or that Y chromosome (not Y as in Yelina!) issue of who has been where first. (Again, eeeuuuuuwwww!) Is she an independent human being in her own right, or R's dog H is baby sitting while R is out of town? Sorry. Every now and then a feminist side of me kicks in and takes over!

Like Lucy said you can't help who you fall in love with. And H fell in love with his sister-in-law. The attraction had been there from the start as H said in 'Blood Brothers'. But she was always his brother's girlfriend/wife. And Y clearly likes H too.

But now that Ray Sr is dead, I don't see why that's a problem.

wow i miss so much here only for two days.. ur been busy ladys :D and all this talk and advice for successful marriage make me think that this institution is not so scary :p yep i agree that H/Y relationship can make u want someone to look at u the way H do, but most of the time the real life suck - too seldom can see so in love guys... btw i`m afraid that if someone have so strong feeling for me i`ll run way as fast as i can  this is too oblige, responsibility and want so much to give... i`m not this type ... too big egoist... maybe i have to surch for new fav ship where one of the charatcers is my type.. and to take little advice from there heheh most importan is to succeed to live with someone more then 3 days hahah sorry for OT but yes i do think that some fiction characters can impression and inspire a lot. i know i know this only tv... but for me House the last 1 y. give me a lot strength... in meaning i'm lazy and mumble that most of the time i feel boring.. this ordinary days just can kill u... but now i every day try to do sometning new, to learn new thing, just to feel that i`m alive - to be busy ... i`m just sick and tired to waste my time... so for now the things a more interesting for me heheh the trick is to keep moving, right ?! to look what u like and to try take it ... *run away ashamed*

btw i`m glad to know that here have people on middle ages.. this make the discussion more deep and interesting (sorry don`t want to offend teens ;))

Ani (my I?), you sound so much like my daughter. She never wants to marry or have children - says she is much too self centered to be able to do that, and boys (as she calls them) are just too much trouble.

And so my whole post won't be ot, here's another pretty pic:
