Why Lindsay REALLY Must Go (Pt. 2)

Lindsay really did throw a little tantrum when Danny asked if she could talk to the mother. It wasn't a ridiculous request from him either. He just asked if she'd talk with the mother while he worked on something else. I thought she was a mature adult who could do her job until she went off like that. It would have made my day to see that mother slap Lindsay the way she slapped Danny though.

What got me too was later on when they had the video to show the mother and Lindsay decided she'd be the one to talk to her that time. When she said 'it's my job or it's part of my job' (whatever she said exactly), I couldn't help but wonder why she didn't have that same thought to begin with instead of whining about getting all the bad jobs.

She is the only character that whines, throws a fit, and complains when she has to do something she doesn't like or just doesn't want to do. What really makes it worse is that it's all part of her job. So basically, she's complaining about doing certain aspects of her job.

... whoa, wait, wait. So in the same episode, Lindsay throws a tantrum about not being able to talk to mothers (and Danny gets slapped by the mother for doing that for Lindsay) ... and then later, she says it's 'her job' to do these things?!

NO @#$%, LINDSAY. Geez! Mac should have just sent Lindsay to the psychiatric ward after that one.

I think it's times like that where she may want to start considering a new job. If you don't like what you job entitles you to do AND you're going to be a whiny, immature cow about it either leave or grow a pair, shut up and suck it up every now and then. Life isn't always a bowl of candies.

I watched through the episode again just to see what she said. Danny was standing in the hallway with the video tape. He was looking at the mother and obviously not in a big hurry to talk to her again and Lindsay walks up beside him. She takes (doesn't ask, just grabs it out of Danny's hand) the tape and says "My turn. I'll do it." Danny just looks at her and asks "you sure" and then she answers him (I had the quote totally wrong ) "Yeah, it's the job." and goes to talk to the mother. Apparently it wasn't 'the job' when she was required to tell the mother what happened to her daughter.

It's lame. Of course she can go talk to the mother now. Danny was the one who told her about her daughter. All Lindsay is doing it showing her the tape her daughter made.

My sentiments exactly... every few eps we seem to find something else that rattles Lindsay and honestly, having like a random fear of something and asking for a hand, or owning up and facing it a la Calleigh and her fear of ants, thats one thing, but just shoveling YOUR work onto your co-workers because it makes you uncomfortable... Grow up or get a new job.

They all have things that shake them up, Danny flipped out over the gypsy cabbie, the death of the Marine on fleet week and terrorism obviously rattles Mac. Hawkes had a hard time when he was forced to rehash his time as a surgeon. Stella has a soft spot for foster kids... It's a challenge. So's life.

Sometimes I have to wonder how she EVER got this far, when she can't stand the sight of dead girls, and can't talk to bereaved mothers... just what HAS she done to get where she is? Danny obviously isn't the only co-worker shes slept with, if you know what I mean.

What really bugged me about that was we were clearly supposed to think, "Isn't Lindsay great for going in there? Isn't she wonderful? Isn't she brave?" All I was thinking was, "Gee, now that Danny got the worst of it--got smacked in the face while you stood and watched!--now you'll step in?" I really couldn't stand her in this episode, more than usual.

That's the thing, too--if she'd turned to Danny and maturely said, "Would you mind stepping in here? I'm not good with this," I could have respected her. That's what an adult would do. But her whiny little, "Oh, sure, stick Lindsay with all the crappy jobs" just made me want to smack her. Is she a sullen teenager or a CSI? That line took all credibility away from the character. Ugh.

Geeze, you'd think they'd give it a rest. However, I'm liking the aspect of this season where they're showing far more cracks to the 'super duper awesomeness' that is Lindsey. What boggles the mind is why the writers, specifically Zuiker, thinks we like her so much. She's selfish, inattentive, and more then a little incompetent. It's frustrating, yet so horribly superficial.

^^ Uh huh, now her deep dark secret is out, they don't know what to do with her so they give her lighter, funnier scenes? Honestly, some of those lines I think will work better with Adam. Lindsay is just not funny and not adding any sparks to show, dunno why she is still there. She probably paid Zuiker to be on the show, not the other way around LOL. I would love to know who the other actresses considered for this role were. They would at least have brought something great to the table. I really miss Aiden. Oh why did Mr. Harper have to be so nice and put in a good word for Miss Belknap?

Feel the burn, ladies and gentlemen. :lol: The funny thing is that it isn't out of the realm of possibility at all that Lindsay might stoop to that level to keep her job, what with her self-centeredness. It's already canon that she practically threw a fit and made Danny do what was supposed to be her job, and he ended up getting slapped for it and then she acts as if she's Tough Montana and expects everyone to go, "Wooooow," at her gutsiness.

Naw, if ya look at what's been said about her (and D/L since it's about the one thing keeping some viewers' interest in her ), you'll see that most of it hasn't come to pass at all. All that overly-done gushing by Zuiker and Veasey? Nada. Actually, it's been the opposite instead. It seems like TPTB really likes Lindsay and assumes that the audience likes her too ... but I say this is a definite case of damage control.

Usually with the other characters, even before the current issue is faced/resolved, another one comes his/her way. Or immediately right after it's all over, they have another story for that character.

Maybe it's just he likes the character so much to a point where he just doesn't see what we see and just assumes we see it like he sees it. Like when you write a not so good song that you personally love and no one else likes but you're so into it you can't see what the others might... or something like that. I tried.

I've been noticing that as I've been skimming through - particularily within this thread. :devil: Nevertheless, how long is this 'damage control' going to last? Are we going to keep seeing the cracks or are we just going to end up suffering through the power of Lindsey all over again?

-laugh- as long as she is the victim of a murder, yes. If they make her the victim or a rape or robbery or whatever then they'll just make her "Big brave Lindsay" because she survived and can cope and lalala.

She sort of reminds me of H in Miami. I know there are probably more H-fans than Lindsay-fans (or at least I hope so) but they're both good at making me shake my head and want to throw something. They're both good at getting more screentime than they deserve and they're both supposed to come across as heroes.

Now, Lindsay is worse, of course, because she was no good from the start, while H was good throughout the early Miami.

What was your reaction to her after you watched the first episode with her, Zoo York or whatever it was called? -we don't get the title screens here-

Right. The episode title was "Zoo York". Hmm, my first thought was that she seemed pretty okay. The part where Danny tricked her into calling Mac "Sir" was pretty cute. I didn't see the chemistry between them during the so-called "bumping into each other" scene. :lol: I'd thought that we'd gotten a spunky girl from Montana, when she pushed that suspect onto the car. Where did that Lindsay go?

Basically, my first impression of Lindsay couldn't be more different than what I think of her right now. Now I couldn't care less if she's in the episode or not. Better if she's not. :devil: Nothing against her or Anna, I just don't like the way her character has essentially devolved since her introduction into the CSI: NY world.
