"Why is it happening to me?" - D/L FanFic

“Montana…” Danny whispered.
“Don’t talk too much” Lindsay said, a smile on her face.
“Did you… did you kiss me?”
“Do you see anyone else who would do that?”
“Perhaps the sexy nurse outside.” Danny said grinning.
“I see you didn’t lose your humor. By the way, Louie was here and Mac too.”
“I missed a lot in the last time.”
“Mac is investigating in your case. Louie mentioned that it could be the revenge of the Tanglewood Boys”
“The Tanglewood Boys? Yeah, that’s possible.”
“So did you see them? Perhaps you can talk to Mac about details.”
“No, they covered their face. Their clothes were all black. That’s what I remember.”
“I should call Mac and tell him that you woke up.”
“Please stay a moment, Montana. I want you to be with me.”
“I’ll return. I won’t disappear, Danny.”
“Yeah, I know but please. Just a moment.”
“Okay, you’re right. I want to be with you, too.”
“Can I have another kiss?”
“Why don’t you ask that sexy nurse?”

Lindsay kissed Danny again. This time longer and more intimately than before.
Then Lindsay sat down on the chair again and took Danny’s hand.

“What changed between us?” He asked.
“I know now that I love you. I wasn’t sure before, but now I am.”
“So my accident has something good, hasn’t it?
“There’s nothing good about that. They could have killed you, Danny. That’s not funny.”
“Yeah, alright. I know I shocked you. But I’m okay. Believe me. No one could hurt me so bad that I would give you up.”
“I will always be with you and I hope you will never leave me.”
“Why should I? In you I’ve found the one I want to live with forever.”
“You’re so cute, Danny. Why didn’t I fall in love with you earlier?”
“I don’t know but now you did. That’s what’s important, Montana.”
“You’re right. But now I have to call Mac, okay?”
“Not to long. I miss you although you didn’t left yet.”
“I’ll come back. Only 10 minutes. I love you”

With that Lindsay left Danny’s room to call Mac.
Danny couldn’t believe that this was happening to him. He could only be happy and smile.

“Louie? It’s me, Lindsay. Danny is awake now.” Lindsay said when Louie answered her call.
“Is he? That’s great.”
“Yeah and he did not lose his humor. He’s okay, believe me.”
“One of his jokes?” Louie asked.
“When he woke up, he asked if it was me who has kissed him. I asked if he sees anyone else who could have. Guess what he said. The sexy nurse outside…”
“That’s him, really. By the way, you kissed Danny?”
“I did. After you were gone I knew what I feel for him. He’s the greatest person I ever met.”
That’s right. He is indeed a good person. Do you want to get some sleep? I can stay with him.”
“That would be great. Perhaps Danny let me go. He didn’t even want me to leave in order to phone Mac.”
“He has to. I’ll be there within 15 minutes.”
“Thanks, Louie.”

Mac said in his office. Lindsay had called just some minutes ago. Now Stella entered the room. Mac was overwhelmed how beautiful she looked this evening. She had a smile on her face.
“Good news. Danny woke up. Lindsay called me minutes ago.”
“Great. Did Danny say anything about the persons from the subway?”
“Not much. Black clothes and covered faces. Not more, but he also thinks that they could have been Tanglewood Boys.”
“Do you think we should talk to Sonny?”
“Don’t know. He won’t tell anything. Let’s say Sonny gave instructions. He would never confess it.”
“You’re right. But in my opinion we should try it, Mac. Perhaps we find out something.”
“Okay, but not yet. It’s too late. Any plans for this evening?”
“Are you asking me out?” Stella asked surprised.
“Perhaps…”
“Nothing, I’d like to do something with you.”
“I hoped you say that.” Mac smiled.”
“Then, let’s go.” She said and they headed of to a restaurant.

Louie entered Danny’s room and Lindsay went home to take a shower and get some sleep.
“So how you’re doin’, little brother?” Louie asked.
“Not perfect, but okay. Thank you for staying here.”
You’ve done that for me too. We’re brothers.”
“I didn’t think that we could be so close again, Louie.”
“Me neither, but I’m happy with this. So you have a girlfriend now?” He said grinning.
“Don’t laugh. It’s serious. I love Lindsay. She is the greatest person I ever met.”
“Funny. She said exactly the same. You’re a great couple, you two.”
“You can’t imagine how happy I am.” He said with hoarse voice.
“You should get some rest. Drink a bit of water and sleep.”
“Okay, mummy.” Danny answered smiling.

Lindsay woke up in the middle of the night. She had heard a noise. Lindsay decided to get up and find out what it had been. Slowly and silent she went into her living room. A blast of wind entered to the open window. Lindsay stepped forward to close the window. She was sure that she hadn’t leave it open the last evening. Someone must have opened it. Lindsay knew what that mean. Someone had entered her apartment by using the fire-escape and was somewhere around her.
Suddenly Lindsay felt something very heavy on her head and everything went black.

Danny opened his eyes. Something wasn’t right. He sensed that. Danny looked around, but he couldn’t see Louie. He was gone.
That alone wasn’t bad, but together with Danny’s feeling that something had happened, he started worrying. Suddenly Stella opened that door.

“Morning”
“Hey Stella. Everything’s alright?” Danny asked.

Stella sat down on the chair next to the bed.

“Everything is okay. Why do you ask?”
“When I woke up, I had that feeling. Something must have happened. I feel that.”
“I don’t know. What do you mean?”
“Well, I think it is Lindsay. Is she fine?”
“I think so. I didn’t see her since yesterday. This morning I wanted to visit you before I go to the lab. I can call her when I leave the hospital. She’s okay, believe me.”

Danny wasn’t convinced. He couldn’t explain why, but he knew that Lindsay wasn’t fine. He was really worried.

“I don’t know. Stella, I wouldn’t ask if it’s not important.”
“Yeah, I can go to her apartment.”
“You’re great, Stella.”
“You are a friend and I’ll always be there for you. You know that. If you think Lindsay isn’t okay, I’ll check that for you.”
“Thank you.”

At the same time Mac and Hawkes sat in Mac’s office.

“Did you hear anything from Lindsay?” Mac asked.
“No, why should I?”
“I told her to come here this morning at 8. Now it’s 9 and Lindsay is never late. If she is, she calls. I’m worried.”
“Perhaps she went to the hospital first.”
“I don’t think so. She would have told me, Hawkes.”
“So you think something could have happened to Lindsay?”
“That’s the only explanation I can think of.”
“Then we should look for her. What do you think?”
“Yeah, let’s go.”

When they left the office, Mac’s phone rang. It was Stella.

“Mac? I stand in front of Lindsay’s apartment door. She doesn’t open.”
“Why are you there?”
“I’ll explain later. Come here. I think something is wrong.”
“That’s what I was going to do before you called. See you in 10 minutes.”

The two of them finished the call.

“That was Stella. Lindsay doesn’t open the door. She thinks something is wrong.”
“You were right. Let’s go.”

Stella couldn’t wait anymore. She had to know what happened to Lindsay. But previously she pulled out gloves and examined the door. There were no traces of housebreaking. To be sure that she would not destroy any traces, Stella decided to take her equipment, which she had in the car.

On her way downstairs she met Mac and Hawkes. Mac was carrying the bag with their equipment.

“Hey, Mac. Good you come. I just wanted to take my equipment.” Stella said.
“You found something?” Hawkes asked.
“I couldn’t see any traces of housebreaking. We have to look for prints.” Stella replied.
“Perhaps we distend. What if she just overslept?” Mac mentioned.
“No I don’t think so. I wish she had, but that’s not Lindsay. She is always on time. No, Mac. Here’s something going on and I hope it’s not too bad.”
“Let’s start with our investigation. If something had happened to Lindsay, we have to find out fast.” Hawkes said.
Hawkes started to search for finger-prints – with no success. Then he took some photos.

“No one broke in. Perhaps we can find something inside.”
With a skeleton key, Hawkes opened the apartment door. They stepped in and looked around.
They couldn’t see anything unusual but they noticed the open window.

“Lindsay wouldn’t sleep with an open window. What do you think?”
“No, she wouldn’t. That’s how the housebreaker came in. You see the mud on the floor?”
“I take a sample and I look for prints on the window.”

Stella put some mud in a bag for evidence. After that she took the fingerprint brush and examined the window-frame.

“Hey, Mac, I have a part of a fingerprint.” Stella said.
“And I have a piece of wood. There’s blood on it.” Hawkes said.
“Okay, that’s all I think. I couldn’t find anything else. Let’s go back to the lab.”
“I go to the hospital. I promised Danny that I will inform him in case I find out something.”
“Don’t know if that’s a good idea. Stella.”
“Mac, you know Danny. He want to know, especially now.”
“What do you mean, especially now?” Mac was a bit confused.
“Come on, Mac. Don’t be stupid. They started a relationship.”
“Oh, yeah. Perhaps you should tell him then. I mean the case is clear. Lindsay was kidnapped. We just don’t know why.”
“Okay, you two go to the lab and I go and tell Danny.”
“Good luck, Stella”
