What's Your Occupation?

Anybody ever been chatting to someone on talk, and all of a sudden they say, "I was thinking about Sara's Shades whilst building my Rocket today", and you are left totally flabbergasted?

Also, ever made an ass out of yourself, by correcting someone, when you find out that that's their specialist field and you don't know what your talking about? *raises hand*

So I thought here would be a perfect place for people to let us know what you do for a living, or if your a student, etc.

Try to include some detail in your posts, like if you would rather be doing something else, what your studying, would you reccommend it, that sort of thing. ;)

Sorry if there is already this sort of thread I can't find one though. Oh, and feel free to change the title, that one is kind of lame.

Sooooo, I will start. :D

I live in England, and I am in my final year of my A levels. I am studying Maths, Biology and Chemistry. Last year I also took Music, only to AS level.
In September I am going to Lincoln University to study Forensic science. It's a 3 year long course. I have no idea what I will do afterwards, perhaps a post-grad, but who knows.

I have a part time job too, I work at a Solicitors. I do the post, photocopy things, faxes, filing, answer phones and doors, and make tea of course. It's extremely boring, but there are worse things I could be doing. ;) Most importantly, it looks good on my university application.

Right, your turn. :D

Hi! I live in Portugal and right now I'm on vacations :D but this year I want to go to the University to study archaeology even tho I would never make a career here in Portugal :( but I love everything that has to do with civilizations and the history of Man!

I also work at one of my mom's Natural Pharmacies, I'm kind of her "right arm" :)

Hey! I live in England also, and i'm in Year 10 doing my GCSE's. I'm doing the usual compulsory English, Maths and Science. We also HAVE to do French, which i absolutely hate. I also chose to do German (god knows why, i hate that too ), Geography and Music and Statistics (yeah, 10 GCSE's! I must be mad!)

I plan to go on to sixth form and study Biology, Chemistry, Maths and either Physics, Music or Psychology, I haven't yet decided.

I hope to get into uni and do either a Forensics or bio-chemistry degree or something similar.

I really want to do something to do with science as a career, as i absolutely love it, and have for as long as i can remember. I got into Forensics about four years ago when i watched an ep of CSI at my cousin's house, and my dream job would be to either be a forensic scientist or an agent in MI5.

At present, i am too young to get a serious part-time job, and there are no jobs in my area for under 16s. I hope when i'm old enough (i think you have to be 18) to work in our local corner shop to earn some extra cash, whilst i'm at uni.

Wow, that's a long post, i hope that's enough detail,

Peace dudes x

I suppose to start next autumn in Universty to study Social Studies and International Relations but in a month I'll finish my other education and I'll be officially a farmer or erm... the title nowdays is fancy "Rural Entrepreneur" :D

So in a future I'll be a farmer with master degree from social studies :p

Well... I have my B.A. from Washington State University in Polical Science. I have done nothing with that.

I went back to school and got my E.C.E.(Early Childhood Education) and CDA (Child Develpment Associate) and worked with children until my children were born.

I loved working with kids, they are funny, fun, exhausting, impatient and totally worth it :D

Now I teach part-time and it's really fun this way. I have more time with my own kids and have time to come here and discuss CSI  ;)

I feel the same way about England. I'm going to move to America when I graduate. :D

Wow! That's like the same as me! Quick tip, unless you like composing and analysing music (to a great deal) don't bother, JMO. I regret it. I wish I had done latin, or further maths, something useful. :( Nevermind eh? I've heard that Physics is really difficult, and Psychology isn't what you would expect it to be. ;)

I hope when i'm old enough (i think you have to be 18) to work in our local corner shop to earn some extra cash, whilst i'm at uni.
You have to be 16 to work in Next, Woolworths, Marks and Spencer, places like that. I only got a job at a solicitors because my mum works there and recommended me, anyone else that works there has to be over 18, which I am now, but I was 16 when I started.

ETA: If your posting DaWacko does that mean this thread stays?

It's like one of my dad's colleagues, he has a degree in History, and he is a Quantity Surveyor.

Well, here we go. I am 22 and live in Holland. In 6 weeks I´ll graduate from college. I studied to become a social worker. Once I get my diploma I can work with kids, young teens, young adults, mentally disabled, psychiatric patients.. special educations.. a whole lot of things.

The Dutchies around here may recognise the education as SPW..

And for the past 6,5 years I have this weekendjob at a department store. The most wellknown one in Holland called HEMA

I am sixteen and live in Holland. :D If everything goes right, I'll graduate from college in two years time. I do the VWO, which is the *cough* highest level here. I have a job on a cheesefarm in a very touristic park in Holland. I give demonstrations about making cheese and I sell the cheese too. I have to speak in a lot of languages, which I love. All of my friends envy me, they like my job, and I do too.

I'd love to get a degree in English and Journalism. I really like foreign languages and English is my fav <3.

Great thread, I'm always wondering what people do. I'm nosy like that.

Anyway, I live in England too. I'm in my first year at Manchester Met university, studying adult nursing. So, hopefully, in 2 1/2 years I'll graduate uni and be let loose on the wards, lol. Don't have a job at the moment, I'm concentrating on my work which takes up loads of time, plus working on the wards is a full time job in itself.

 Me too.

I live in Canada. I'm currently working at a grocery store, saving up money for school. In september, I'll be going back to university to work on my bachelor degree, in Applied Disaster and Emergency Studies, or A-DES for short.

Hmmm, intriguing. What on earth is that ? Forgive my ignorance, I've never even heard of it before :D .

Edit: Just closed the tag -DaW

I'm a student at a dog training course to (hopefully) train me to be a behaviorist someday. I also think it would be fun to train dogs for movie and t.v. roles, buuuut, one step at a time

I live in America right now, but I'm saving up to move to Canada someday. I work at home on the computer, so I'm on the net all day, I love it. :D

I Live in Vancouver, B.C. and i work at a grocery store, i know its very exciting. I would much rather be doing something else but, im only 19 so there arent too many options. My school term has just ended *yay* and so now i am "free" to work fulltime!! I normally work part time because i also am well was going to school studying photography.

I have basically no idea what career i will have in the future but im happy as i am right now. And im 19, im young and i have my whol life ahead of me!

:D I'm not the only year 10! For my GCSEs I'm doing: Maths, English Lit, English Lang, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, French, R.S. short course (1/2 GCSE).

Then I chose Art, German and Latin. I'm also doing R.S. full course on Tuesday lunchtime and Ancient Greek after school. It's quite a lot but I really enjoy it.

I have absolutely no idea what I want to be when I'm older. I want to do something interesting though, I know I couldn't stand something which is boring and repetitive, I have to have something I can put tonnes of effort into.

:D Egg, this is definately a cool thread!

I'm a first year student at the University of Queensland doing a Bachelor of Arts (not art... arts) majoring in Psychology, probably. I don't have to decide my major until second year. I'll probably minor in Criminology. At the moment I'm doing a subject in Psych, Criminology, Ancient History and Philosophy. It's fun!

I'm also a casual worker in a bakery/coffee shop two days a week (Saturday and Sunday), like 15 hours all up. I don't think I can really call that as an occupation.

I'm still unsure of what I really want to do, but I'm definately heading towards psychology at the moment. Fun times!
