I'm reading "Paladin of Souls" by Lois McMaster Bujold. It's the sequel to "The Curse of Chalion," which I didn't know when I started it, cause I'm dumb, so there's stuff I don't really understand. Things that have happened years before (in the first novel) and people and places. Whatever. This book is amazing.

After finishing P.J Tracy's Snow Blind on Wednesday (which was good until the bad ending), I'm now reading The Lost Army Of Cambyses by Paul Sussman. Synopsis:

In 523 BC, the Persian emperor Cambyses dispatched an army across Egypt's western desert to destroy the oracle of Amun at Siwa. Legend has it that somewhere in the middle of the Great Sand Sea his army was overwhelmed by a sandstorm and destroyed. Fifty thousand men were lost. Two and a half thousand years later a mutilated corpse is washed up on the banks of the Nile at Luxor, an antiques dealer is savagely murdered in Cairo, and an eminent British archaeologist is found dead at the ancient necropolis of Saqqara. At first, the incidents appear unconnected. Inspector Yusuf Khalifa of the Luxor police is suspicious, however. And so too is the archaeologist's daughter, Tara Mullray. As each seeks to uncover the truth, they find themselves thrown together in a desperate race for survival - one that forces them to confront not only present-day adversaries but also ghosts from their own pasts. From a mysterious fragment of ancient hieroglyphic text to rumours of a fabulous lost tomb in the Theban Hills, from the shimmering waters of the Nile to the dusty backstreets of Cairo, Khalifa and Mullray are drawn ever deeper into a labyrinth of violence, intrigue and betrayal. It is a path that will eventually lead them into the forbidding, barren heart of the western desert, and the answer to one of the greatest mysteries of the ancient world.

Nick Hornby is one of the best authors I've ever read. I love "High Fidelity" and "About a Boy," both of which were made into movies.

I haven't yet read "Fever Pitch," but the movie version was about the Boston Red Sox instead of soccer.

I finished Bare Bones by Kathy Reichs a couple days ago, and now I'm reading The Fourth K by Mario Puzo. It's a good book, but the beging is very slow, if it's anything like The Godfather it should be worth the read.

Really? :( I've not got around to buying the Snow Blind yet. It's a shame really as I enjoyed 'Want To Play' and 'Live Bait', 'Dead Run' wasn't so good, in my opinion.

I'm still reading 'A Faint Cold Fear', I've not had much time for reading the past couple of weeks. I received 'Turn Of Screw' in the post a few weeks ago. I was quite shocked, actually - it's about 40 pages long!

Yeah, the ending just felt rushed and I found it pretty unsatisfactory, though I won't say anymore because I don't wish to spoil it for you. It's been getting criticism over at Amazon too - the last time I checked, only a 3 star rating for it :(

And I agree about Dead Run too. The suspense was good and there was some great character development, but I think I was expecting something bigger and better in terms of the plot line. It was definitely less convoluted than Live Bait and Want To Play? (IMO).

Ah well...maybe their next novel will be better :)

i'm reading 'The Da Linci Cod' or something along the lines of that... the parody of the da vinci code... i love it caus i hated the da vinci code! hehehe...

*snort* Nice one Kate :p I remember reading the parody of the Matrix called The Matwix, with the characters Newu, Titty and Amorphous

Ok, moving on... :p

I'm reading Communication Theories by Harris and Introduction to Communication Theories by Em Harris for my finals tomorrow.

Boring.
