Welcome to the Forensic Science Thread!

Hi everyone, I use to come here a lot, but I haven't been here for at least 6 months ... so I guess I'm a newbie again ....

If you want to tudy Forensics in England, do a egree in Chmical Engineering or Physics, and then specialise afterwards ... you'll get paid better and have more job opportunities ... ( or so I've been told ...)

I am a medical student so I can give biological/medical info.

Also do a course in criminology/psychology so if you want to know more about that, again my door, well link, is always open.

Oh, you know what was fun? I took a course in forensic science when I was in collage, it was a 3 day thing. I enjoyed it so much! Even if I was the youngest haha.

Are you planning on doing something combining medicine and criminology? Or are you just doing both because you're interested in both?
 
I am studying medicine but plan to advance into forensic medicine. The other course, well I kinda had it forced upon me my teachers, but I'm loving it. :lol: It is supposed to take 2 years but I'm doing it over the 5 to fit in with my other course.

Ultimatly, I plan to join my aunt at quantico so, yeah, they will both help I guess.

I have this slight pain in the shoulder, but that is getting off topic from forensics. Besides, I hate injections so I'll pass on that. But if I have a forensics question, I'll be sure to wave again.

:lol: I'll look forward to it. I can mostly help with questions relating to how Alexx would do something. Or what happened to a victim whe they died. Or hospital malpractice (if ya wanna go down that route).

Also with the psychology of the criminal. Or the victim in some cases. If you need research, I'm your girl. I have a room full of the stuff!

I'm new here but would love to join this group! I'm in grade 12 and i'm graduating this year. I looooove science and i'm hoping to go into forensic science (probably at trent university or laurentian u). I don't know much yet, but i do have an over 90% average and know my stuff about science (especially science!).
Once i saw these groups i knew i'd be interested in chatting in them so i hope you guys don't mind :D

Welcome! I wish you luck in your studies towards forensic science. This is the best place to be if you want to just chat forensics, ask questions, and learn a few things :)
 
Jumping into the thread too! I love forensics and even though I've learned a lot from the show, I've still seen some things that make me go, "huh?"
 
I'm sure there must be some ballistics experts with degrees in physics, but I don't think I've ever met one.

I did a seminar (about an hour long) at the RCMP last month and they gave me a booklet on working in forensics through the RCMP. In it they list the kind of degrees a person should have when working in forensics and for Ballistics a physics degree is recommended. It's mostly so that you can accurately look at such things as conservation of momentum, kinematics, dynamics, projectile motion and conservation of energy. Still, a lot of it is based on work experiance and professional seminars/lectures and such.
 
Hey guys! I've got good news about my goal of becoming a forensic scientist! I have applied to two different universities for forensic science and my marks are well above what they need! I can't wait for their response (time to cross fingers!!!)

I got an offer from my preferred Uni today, I orginally applied to to Geology and Geography, but you had to indicate another minor that you'd be prepared to take if the numbers on the courses were too big. So I got an offer for Geology and Forensic Science. Weird combination, but the course looks really good, and it's interesting and I wasn't expecting to take it but if I get in, we'll see where I go.
