Re: Wallpaper Challenge #16: In the Lab - Winners Up!

I plan to put up the next challenge in the next day or two, but I need an opinion on something first. Regarding Wyoming's post Here, I'd like to do a trial run of having three categories (beginner, intermediate, advanced) instead of two. I would like to know what ya'll think of this, as you're the ones entering. If we go ahead with this, I will have to go over a few rules with the mods to make sure everything goes smoothly.

Re: Wallpaper Challenge #16: In the Lab - Winners Up!

In theory I think that three categories would be fairer. In practise, I can see it running into problems if there aren't many entries for a particular round.
Of course, you've no doubt considered this. So, I've voted for the trial run of the three categories. It'll be like an experiment and all good CSI viewers love an experiment! ;)

Re: Wallpaper Challenge #16: In the Lab - Winners Up!

Congratz to the winners. Would anybody tell me where Adv. #2 comes from? I wonder where I can get that texture.

I don't think we need to try three categories, it's just my opinion though. I've seen many advanced wallpapers in the beginner category and many beginner stuffs in the advanced category. I think we should suggest those participants to take part in the other category with their creations because after all you have more chance to win with a great wallpaper in the beginner category, and some of you guys would do anything to win. That's kind of... strange to me. I think everyone should consider challenges before participating. Becoming a winner is not as important as it seems to be. Yeah, it's good to win, but it's better to win without cheating, because I kind of call it cheating. I'm sorry if I'm offensive, that's my opinion, but I just don't get some people.

Re: Wallpaper Challenge #16: In the Lab - Winners Up!

DD, it was a pleasure to run the challenge for you whilst you were away. I have enjoyed it, so thank you. :)

I also don't think there should be 3 categories. I have many reasons for this, one main point simply being that, without meaning to cause offence, I doubt there are many of us, at all, that would consider ourselves to be 'advanced' at using our art software over 'intermediate'. It's simply in the name. I don't think any challenges really have enough entries to justify 3 categories, plus it is more work for the organiser. And this really should be about fun, not about who gets the most votes. It's easy really, two categories, pick one. And play fair, you know how good you are. It's not usually that advanced entrants are in the wrong category, rather that some people feel that some in the beginners shouldn't be. The thing is, I could go on about how ridiculous this is all night, but it's not even aimed at this challenge, it's a general one for all challenges. Some challenges have done away with categories altogether because of lack of entries, it goes in stages like that sometimes. Try it yes, but when there aren't enough entries it will just get changed again. I think I need to go and chill out, my apologies for my somewhat harsh opinions...

SB, I don't think she'll mind me telling you, Joycie84 made Advanced #2. It is really beautiful. :)
