The Did you know...? thread

I hope this is allowed. :) Delete this if you wish to.

Post some things that are quite UNKNOWN or ANYTHING INTERESTING to everyone about CSI: NYor the cast.

I'll start first.

Did you know that Lindsay Monroe was originally supposed to be called Lindsey Hamilton?

Someone told me this and I found some evidence to support this. Taken from an article in Cult Times in 2005.

Taking Aiden's place is Lindsey Hamilton, who [Carmine] Giovinazzo says, "is basically a new detective from another city that has been called in to join our group based on her expertise. She's done some really good work and comes in to fill a hole. It is going to be fun because it is something I can play on, her being an outsider and not from New York. I have an opportunity to have a good banter with her and give her a hard time in a light-hearted way."

There's the whole article on this site: http://www.rutta.dk/csiny/photo-gallery/magazine-scans/magazine-2005/magazine-2005.htm

Nice. I thought Lindsay was supposed to be named Summer Hamilton (click me)

I have to say this about Gary :D --- He was *third* choice to play the lead CSI (behind Andy Garcia and Ray Liotta)

Here are some other items from IMDB :

Anthony E. Zuiker wanted The Who's "Behind Blue Eyes" to be the show's theme song. However, CBS president Leslie Moonves turned it down in favour of "Baba O'Riley" (also by The Who).

Stella's name was derived from Stella Kowalski from A Streetcar Named Desire (1951) and Salvatore Corsitto's character Amerigo Bonasera from The Godfather (1972).

Andy Garcia was originally offered the lead role, a character who would have been named Det. Rick Calucci. He declined the role, as did Ray Liotta.

Wow, those are some interesting details. Didn't know the tidbit about Lindsay but I knew about Gary being the third choice. I'm really glad he got the part, I like Andy Garcia but I totally can't picture Ray Liotta as a CSI.

Interesting! I didn't know that about Stella's last name.

Everyone probably already knows this, but Antony Zuiker used to drive a tram in Las Vegas, and now he's one of the most powerful guys in the TV world. Now that is pretty damn inspiring! :D

^Yeah, we all joked about how it sounded like a porn star's name!

Thanks, guys. :)

"Detective Summer Hamilton"-- That's just not right...

Yeah that name deifnitely sounds more fitting for one of the victims or suspects on the show. hehe

 Maybe that's Lindsay's dark secret. She became a porn star to get funds for gas money for her pinto. Now that is something I totally didn't see coming .

got a "404 Not Found" error message?
Oops, sorry. Rutta got a new layout and changed a load of stuff and apparently the file isn't there anymore...

She became a porn star to get funds for gas money for her pinto.
 We were just talking about that in the Lindsay thread a while back and how she could have worked as a stripper.

But Catherine already did that.

Mac Taylor's name came from Gary Sinise's son McCanna, who apparently is nicknamed Mac (he's credited that way a time or two) and Lt Dan Taylor of Forrest Gump

Then of course there's the Carmine G CSI LV appearance, which reaired tonight btw. Anyone know if that influenced the casting of him in CSI NY?

Oh and who was originally considered for Flack? I forgot...just know that he's not in the Miami pilot or the promo shots from early S1. (got one as part of my wallpaper)

I think (key word here *lol*) this was mentioned in one of the commentaries but it's been too long since I watched those so don't quote me on that. If I remember correctly though Carmine's appearance on LV didn't influence his casting in NY at all.
