Re: TalkCSI LPS #1: Challenge 7 - Texture

Ooh, excellent photographs. It's hard to pick! Great work everyone.

    My choices:

    1) Ineffective composition. This comes across more of a landscape than a texture. There's too much sky and too much foreground clutter. If you had photographed the liner qualities of the vineyard, it would have worked great.

    4) The two dark cats seem to blur into one subject. I don't see any definition between the two of them. Its one dark mass.

    3) Great idea for texture. It has linear qualities, but there is too much flash to the right side of the image and its too dark on the left. Excellent idea though. I have to admit, I tried the same thing.

Edited to add: GAH! I did it again. I numbered them instead of putting in the correct numbers. I corrected it. These are the right numbers. I swear sometimes I worry about me.

 Wow. This is way too hard! They're all so good!

03: There is too much glare in the bottom corner
04: There isn't enough contrast between the colours. Things just blend into each other
01: The colours in this picture seem muted somehow. Like they should be brighter.

    Once again, great work everyone!

    So hard

03: Glare at the bottom corner
05: No main point to draw the eye too
02: Appears very slightly blurred, possibly because it is so close up, it is difficult to find a main point of focus

That was far too difficult, I have been looking at the pics for about 10 minutes before I could decide!

    4) I love the cats in this photo! :D However, they are too dark. The texture can can only be made out on the blanket and not on the main focus of the photo, the cats.

    1) Ineffective composition - the photo is a gorgeous landscape but lacks texture in most of the shot.

    5) Great photo. There are tiny elements of glare on some of the leaves. Barely noticeable but the rules state you have to pick three, so... sorry!

csi_fan_uk, your description doesn't match the photo. ;)

I'm still thinking about which ones to vote for!

    This is a hard one!

    1) While I love the picture, there isn't really enough focus on the "texture" part of the picture. Perhaps if the vines were the main point.

3). A bit of glare in the right hand corner.

4). Okay, whoever's this is, you're cats are ADORABLE. However I don't think the "texture" is really there.

You're welcome and thanks re my BSG icons/banners. I really like your banner too. Always makes me smile! :D

My votes - very diffidult indeed to choose. None of these photos deserve criticism! :(

    2) Lacks contrast slightly and the subject feels a little too close-up.

    3) There is a glare at the bottom right hand of the photo.

    5) Lovely photo, but no focal point.

Re: TalkCSI LPS #1: Challenge 7 - Texture

2: Subject seems too close, a slightly ineffective composition.
5: Pretty leaves, but I didn't really think 'texture'.
3: There's a brightness in the right corner that is distracting.

So difficult to decide though. They are all great photos.

Re: TalkCSI LPS #1: Challenge 7 - Texture

01 - I get where the texture is, but it doesn't seem to be the focus of the photo. A little cropping might have helped.

04 - I really, really love the cats, they're so lovely! However, I don't see a focus on texture here. Sorry. :(

03 - The flashlight caused a glare on the right side of the photo. Try to play with the diaphragm instead of using flashlight. That shall help you make a great photo.

    05) Couldn't really see a variety of texture here, no central point, but lovely photo.

    02) Ineffective composition, too close, not any contrast between colors/shapes.

    03) Bright glare in corner of photo.

    Lovely photos though. :)

Re: TalkCSI LPS #1: Challenge 7 - Texture

Erm, guys...can we please get away from the "I don't think texture when I see the photo" reason. I've told you before and this starts to get a bit irritating for me. This competition is supposed to be about helping people improve their photography, so it's not really useful if you just comment that the picture doesn't relate to the theme much. Please try and comment on the contrast, sharpness, exposure, etc. instead. If you must mention the photo's relation to the theme, it would be nice if you could also add something about the quality of the image and how the photographer could improve. The interpretation of the theme by the photographer should really be secondary to the quality of the photo itself.

Please keep this in mind, otherwise I'm going to start PMing individuals who can't be bothered to do as I say. The rules are there for a reason: to make things fair.

    Thank you.

Re: TalkCSI LPS #1: Challenge 7 - Texture

One question then... Why do we have a theme each time then? Although we might be free to choose how we interpreted the theme it should be visible else there is no point in having a theme?!?!?
