A new year, and new ideas...

So how about we do an LPS (Last Photographer Standing)? This is a competition using the same rules as a LIMS (Last Icon-Maker Standing) competition, where I pick a theme for each round, each participant submits a photo relating to that theme, and then posters vote for the 3 least quality photos and give reasons why.

Each round, the 2 participants with the most number of votes are eliminated. The objective of this LPS is to try and improve your photography skills through other people’s constructive criticism during voting. For example, things that might be commented on include 3 main areas:

    - Composition
    - Colour
    - Lighting

There will be a mod’s choice at the end of each round, and the person who took the photo will receive a special banner from me.

So yes, this is pretty much the same as a LIMS (which cofi_shot is currently running over in Fan Art), which means these rules will also apply:

    - once you sign up, you’ll only be allowed one free pass, which lets you skip a round of your choice
    - any member of this board will be allowed to vote
    - votes will be tallied in the order you post them (1st photo = 3 points, 2nd photo = 2 points, 3rd photo = 1 point)

I’d like as many people as possible to sign up for this if they’re interested - it’ll be fun ;) I’d like at least 18-20 to start with so we can eliminate 2 people at each round, but if there are a lot less than this, we may just eliminate 1 participant at the end of each round.

Please post here if you would like to sign up, and I will add you to a list that I will edit into this post.

    Thanks :)

^^Same, but hey! Constructive criticism helps, I know by cruising through the LIMs (I never take part though! :p) that the comments have helped with my icons, for sure.

Aw, thanks Ducks, but I've put you on the list as I think I'll manage running this thing :) (for now) :p

Also, no one here is rubbish - I've been running these competitions over a year now, and always loved seeing everyone's entries :) Plus, it's all the fun in taking part, and what you learn from this that matters ;) *hugs you all*

Re: Anyone interested in an LPS?

I like the idea and I really want to sign up, but....
    - there were so many themes I couldn't attend in the past because I didn't have the possibility to make a pic. there's no ocean, no see, no mountain (yep, I live in Austria, but no mountains in my region), no beach.
-work! I come home when it's dark outside, I only have Saturday's and Sunday's to make a pic. In January I have to work on Saturday's too. maybe February too.

    :(
How long can I think about it?

Re: Anyone interested in an LPS?

^ I'm going to leave the signing-up open for at least a few days (so you have at least until the end of Friday). But if I don't have enough people by then, I'll probably leave it open over the weekend too.

Also, about the themes - without giving too much away, the themes for this LPS are going to be much more general than those for previous competitions. This is because:

    1) Gives people more of a chance of being able to submit something.

    2) Leaves room for creativity in terms of how you interpret the theme. For example, if the theme is "water", some people may submit a photo of rainfall, some people may submit a photo of a lake or a river, and others may submit a photo of snow or ice.

Hope that helps with your decision inge :)
