Supernatural #4: STILL No Chick Flick Moments

Episode 7 - All In The Family (originally was Family Remains). I imagine this one will feature Samuel Campbell and possibly Christian and Mark Campbell as well. We've been told that Christian is Dean and Sam's cousin. Originally I'd heard that Mark was supposed to be his son, but I highly doubt that because the actor cast as Mark is only a year younger than Corin Nemec who is playing Christian, so they'll more than likely be brothers or cousins. I don't know why they changed the title, not that the title change is that different, so they might have as well left it alone.

Episode 8- All Dogs Go To Heaven - I read that this episode features a skin walker, which for those who watch "True Blood" is basically what the character named Sam (the bar owner) on there is. He turns into a dog. So, I am wondering if this ep might be a slight spoof of "True Blood".

Episode 9 - Clap If You Believe - If you remember a while back there was talk of a possible fairy episode and that Robert Englund may appear in the episode. I wonder if this title means that it will be about Faeries.

I have to admit, I was worried about Episode 8 at first. I was worried that the real Bones (Sammy's dog) would come back into his life only to be killed. But now that we know its about a skin walker, I'm wondering what that means. Is the skin walker going to be a good guy like Sam on True Blood or will he/she be evil? I don't know, but I'm interested in finding out.

As for episode 9, I really hope that Robert Englund's rumored appearance was more than just a rumor, cause I'd love to see him on the show. :)

Question: Any news on what will happen to Castiel on Supernatural this season?

Ausiello:
This season’s first two episodes will be Cas-free, but the full-powered angel returns in spectacular fashion in week 3. “Let’s just say some angels show up that are not so happy,” teases exec producer Sera Gamble. “Cas and an angel go through a window at one point, and the result is not pretty. It’s a pretty spectacular stunt.”

I doubt Family Remains was going to be the episode title for number 7, for Family Remains was episode # 11 of Season 4. I feel that they wouldn't use the same title twice, so that's probably why they didn't go that way. If at all it's true that they were going to use Family Remains after all, which I haven't seen that in spoilers and I read all of the spoilers, so I doubt it.

Edit: I'm assuming that you meant Family Matters ;)

The rumor about Robert Englund, sadly is not true. Thought I'd let you know that ... the person who did the article that mentioned it, confused Robert Englund and Ben Edlund, the writer of the show. That's a pretty big mistake, I swear some people shouldn't be in that kind of business if they're going to have such big typos like that

Yeah, I meant Family Matters LOL. I wasn't paying attention to what I was typing apparently lol. So, they went from one sitcom title to another LOL. Family Matters to All In The Family haha.

Aw, crap! I was really hoping he'd be on the show. How can anyone mix up the two names? Okay the last names, sure... but the first names are completley different lol.

By the way, I was wrong about Sam on True Blood. He's a shapeshifter, not a skinwalker. I'd rather see another shapeshifter that's not evil like the last one on Supernatural was.

They better not mark up Cas' pretty face! At least not permanently.

Dean holding a baby would be cute, I just hope he doesn't take the baby to Lisa and say, "lets raise this kid together", cause if that happens, I'm gonna seriously be peeved. Hopefully someone related to the baby will show up before the end of the episode and take the baby home with them. Too bad Cas can't be in the episode. I'd like to see how he'd interact with the baby. LOL someone on another board said Cas and the baby could head tilt at each other LOL. Actually, I wanna see Cas interact with a puppy and the puppy to headtilt at Cas and Cas to headtilt back. It would be perfect! :D

OK, since there's been nothing but spoilers (which I don't normally read) in this thread for a while, thought I'd post some more on "real life"... and will spoiler code guest star sighting, even though I think he's common knowledge.

Anyway, they filmed downtown last week and my colleague and some other people she knows hung out and watched them film well into the evening. Apparently a lot of them spoke to production staff at the conference a couple weeks ago, so they approached them again during filming breaks and they said everyone was very friendly and nice, and chatted a lot- always nice to see a great crew of people working together on a show I love. And I think that it really shows in the quality of the episodes.

Jared, Jensen and
Mitch Pileggi
were all there. Apparently
Mitch
was quite friendly. Jared jumped in a car and left at the end, but he waved and smiled at everyone when he drove past them, and Jensen just found his bodyguard and snuck out. I'm starting to wonder if he's the friendliest of guys, the more I hear about him... but whatever- I still think he's hot and I love Dean, so...?

Also, it seems to be confirmed that they will be filming a day at another colleague's cousins house in New West. I'm going to try to get her to convince him to take some pics! :)

An extended preview of the premiere --> Here
Come on Dean ... your brother was used as Lucy's meat suit and you think he's going to be okay when he just magically shows back up? Oh come on ...

I read that episode 9 will feature a UFO hunter. So what I'm wondering is, does this UFO Hunter think that the faeries are aliens? This could be funny and interesting. :D

Supernatural: Sam Is One Angry Dude Upon His Return From Hell

Supernatural just wouldn't be the same demon-hunting show if Sam (Jared Padalecki) really died after that fall into hell. The man he is now is a stark contrast to what we've seen over the last five seasons.

"I come back much less lovey-dovey," says Padalecki, "and more like, 'All right. I've been to hell a couple times, I've been to heaven. I've died, I've come back, I've done this, and I've done that. [Now] Sam's more no bullsh--."

Sam's time in hell was much worse than what Dean (Jensen Ackles) had experienced there, according to Padalecki; Sam was in Lucifer's cage with an archangel battle erupting around him.

"Crowley (Mark Sheppard) says, 'I can't imagine what it's like in the cage, and I can imagine so many things,'" Padalecki says. "We get the idea that Sam was in the bad part of hell. He wasn't in the penthouse."

While Sam has become hardened by his experience, Dean had a year of playing house, which has softened him up a bit. "I had no idea what the hell I was doing," Ackles says of playing a domesticated version of the character. "Even the dialogue, the way it was written, being so soft and affected. I was like, 'This is not the guy I'm used to playing."

"I was not happy with it," Ackles says of not wanting to lose Dean's essence in the new season. "We spent five years with this guy being a tough, shoot-first-ask-questions-later kind of guy, and now all of a sudden he's gone soft on us? It read pretty soft on the page, but I think I toughened it."

Bringing the changed brothers back together will be a challenge this season. "When Sam shows back up unexpectedly, obviously there's surprise, but then there's also anger," Ackles says, promising that the glimpse in the trailer of Dean punching Sam is real and not clever editing. "How long has he been around, and why hasn't he told me? That's the first bit of friction."

Supernatural returns Friday, Sept. 24 at 9/8c on the CW.

Okay guys, but no review for me with this episode ... quite frankly saying I was a little disappointed is an understatement :scream: I didn't buy anything and quite frankly I think the time jump was not needed, the only thing I even remotely enjoyed was Sam's car

If you would have asked me back in Seasons 3 and 4 if I wanted Dean with Lisa, I would have been all for it. But seeing it play out, I'm damn sick of it already :scream: I don't want a depressed, love sick Dean, I want the Dean we have all come to love, not someone as whipped as he was in this episode  I don't know why I thought this episode was so horrible, I just didn't like it at all.

I thought I would have some faith in Sera Gamble, but I think I'll just be disappointed this season, thanks for nothing Mrs. Gamble. I enjoyed Smallville more than I enjoyed this lackluster episode :shifty:

I don't trust Samuel at all, why did he not want to kill the female Djinn? Did I miss something? Or is it just polite to tell something that needs to be killed "don't worry we're not going to hurt you" what the .... :wtf:

I read that episode 9 will feature a UFO hunter. So what I'm wondering is, does this UFO Hunter think that the faeries are aliens? This could be funny and interesting. :D

I would die if the UFO Hunter is played by David Duchovny :guffaw: I know it won't happen but it would be funny seeing him and Mitch at the same time :shifty:

I don't know what's going on with the spoiler bars. The first one opened for me, but the second one wouldn't. I had to quote to be able to read it. Weird...

I don't like the time jump either. As for Sam's car, I prefer the older Chargers (like Michael Weston's on Burn Notice). I really dislike how they changed the body shapes of classic cars. It really bothers me. You can update the inside of the car all you want, but leave the body shape alone.

I haven't yet watched the episode cause I knew the whole Dean/Lisa thing would be written in a way I wouldn't enjoy and I wanted to fast forward through that (plus its a good thing that I recorded SPN in my bedroom and watched NY [while recording it] in the livingroom because while watching/recording Blue Bloods, the vcr in the livingroom ate the tape, so I wouldn't have been able to go back and watch NY later if I'd watched SPN instead of recording it). Back in Season 3, I would have been all for Dean/Lisa too. I'd have been okay with it now if it had been developed properly.

Were the Dean/Ben scenes cute at least? I adore Ben. I liked Lisa in Season 3, but the way that she was suddenly thrown back into the storyline and written as Dean's "happy place" makes me really want to resent her. I don't mind Dean being happy to spend time with Ben because I get that. Ben was so much like a mini-Dean that it made Dean realize he did want to someday have kids and he wanted Ben to be his kid. That makes perfect sense, but he can't suddenly feel something for Lisa just because she's the kid's mother. It just doesn't happen that way. With time, feelings can build up... but just suddenly epiphany in "99 Problems" that he wants to be with her after not even thinking about her for a couple of years? Do NOT buy it. However....

In a recent interview with SFX magazine (I think that was the magazine), Sera said, "We're not killing Lisa off ... immediately". Which says to me that she will be killed off at some point. I don't know if I'd want her killed off, I just want her not to be with Dean romantically because it's too late to develop it properly now. They burned that bridge in "99 Problems".

If he had said [in 99 Problems], "If there was time, I would want you and I to try to have a relationship" it would have made so much more sense than "When I picture myself happy its with you". Gag! Dean hates chick flick moments and that line was nearly right out of a chick flick. I mean what did they do watch "Fools Rush In" before writing that line? 'Cause it sounded a lot like Matthew Perry's line in that movie: "you're everything I never knew I always wanted". Which was fine for that movie, but those kind of lines just really don't have a place on Supernatural, I'm sorry but they don't. It just doesn't work.

If they do kill Lisa off, I kind of would prefer her to die by human means rather than supernatural means. Like maybe Dean's off hunting with Sam and Ben is staying overnight at a friend's house when someone breaks into Lisa's house (to steal stuff) while she's sleeping. She wakes to the glass breaking, gets up and goes to check it out and surprises the person and they shoot and kill her. That would be so much more original for this show then to have her die like Jess and Mary or even like Jo and Ellen.

I've decided that I'm gonna wait to watch episodes 1 and 2 until after I've watched episode 3. I want the first episode I watch after the long break to be that one because as far as I know, it appears to possibly be the first Lisa-free episode of the season lol. Plus, it has Egyptian plagues, which sounds interesting. Not sure how I feel about the Raphael's return yet. I'll have to wait and see. But the Egyptian curse thing sounds interesting.

Despite Sera saying they're not going to kill Lisa off immediately, I think they will end up getting rid of the character quicker than they had originally planned because there are so many people who are unhappy about the way the storyline was handled and just want her gone in whatever way. I mean, according to a recent interview, Jensen is unhappy with the way Dean's been written and he has never really complained about his character before, so for him to not like the direction Dean's headed in, that is really a big reason for me to be concerned. Was he just referring to the premiere or does it go beyond that? TPTB need to listen to him. If he feels its wrong, then its wrong. Actors often come to know their characters much more than even the writers do. They have to play those characters, so they come to understand what makes the character tick. So if an actor says "this isn't how this character would act", then tptb really need to listen to that.

So the Dijinn was in this episode and not responsible for the whole year skip thing or for Dean's year long "apple pie" life? Darn! I was hoping the Dijinn would pop up later and would have been responsible for the horrible time jump idea and the whole Sam being back for a year and not bothering to tell Dean he's been alive for an entire year. :sigh: This is such a horrible idea to me. I get a month, even a few months because he wants Dean to have some happiness, a normal life... but I just cannot fathom Sammy being back for an entire year and leaving Dean in the dark that long. It just doesn't make any sense at all. It's like we're in an alternate universe or something. Everything is so weird and makes no sense. I don't get it. I really don't.

Someday I kind of would like to see Cas and Ben meet... just because I can imagine Ben doing or saying something that makes Cas tell Dean, "He's a lot like you". Yeah, I still haven't gotten over the idea that Ben is Dean's kid. I don't care what anyone says... in my mind Ben is Dean's son. That of course is just my opinion though. :)

I just hope to Chuck that there's no Dean/Lisa gag-worthy stuff in that episode. Please don't ruin the Cas episode by putting Lisa in it! I do want Ben and Cas to meet though and something Ben says to make Cas turn to Dean and say, "he's a lot like you, Dean". That would make my day. :D

When has Supernatural turned into the "Castiel" show? I seriously don't get watching a tv show just because of one character, but for all their own I guess.

Well, I for one quite enjoyed it. I didn't really know what to expect and I think they played out the angsty storyline we've come to know and love on this show fairly well.

We all knew they'd have to try a different angle- seriously, how DO you follow the apocalypse? Not surprised they're going to work the "something big and bad is coming" thing again- I don't know what other overall story arc they could have on a show like this. I'm glad to see Samuel back, but will have to reserve judgement on the other Campbells. Nice to see David Paetkau (sp?) from Flashpoint, though! :) The female Campbell cousin is a little cliche/snarky for me at the moment, but maybe she'll grow on me. If not, they'll probably kill her off anyway!

Lisa and Ben... would have liked to see a little more Ben interaction, but wasn't really bothered by Lisa, and I fully expected to be. I found all her responses to be pretty realistic, and if anything, she was more understanding than I would have imagined her to be. Obviously Dean won't be staying with them forever, so I'm not really too worried about the relationship storyline- as long as Lisa remains realistic, at least. I think the actress playing her is doing a good job. I think it was the same kid playing Ben, but he's obviously grown so I'm not 100% on that. (And not dedicated enough to those sorts of details to bother researching! )

Anyway, considering I've had a fair amount of trepidation about the show since hearing they weren't finishing the show as planned after season 5, I was actually pleased to see that it still felt like an episode of Supernatural. Looking forward to next week! :)

In other news, I've gotten another person at work totally addicted to the show via lending my DVDs! She was bummed when I forgot to bring in seasons 3 and 4 for her yesterday- "Oh no! What am I going to do this weekend? I was all set to watch!"
