Supernatural #4: STILL No Chick Flick Moments

My friend is going to the Supernatural con here in Vancouver this weekend. Hope she gets some good photos, but I doubt it b/c her camera sucks!

I saw some fairly interesting characters on the description for the first episode of season 6 :D

Characters:
Sam Winchester - Jared Padalecki
Dean Winchester - Jensen Ackles
Bobby Singer - Jim Beaver
Castiel - Misha Collins
Lisa Braeden - Cindy Sampson
Ben Braden - Nicholas Elia
Azazel - Fredric Lane O_O
Gwen campbell (family from their mom's side maybe) - Jessica Heafy
Johnny Cambell - Brendon Zub
Brigitta - Laura Mennell

Well, now that's confusing cause they said before that Cas doesn't appear until episode 3. And they left off cousin Christian (Campbell) played by Corin Nemec as well. I thought Gwen was supposed to be Christian's wife, so not a cousin by blood, but maybe it's his sister instead. Christian was also said to have a son named Mark, but its possible that they changed the character name to Johnny. And I just saw a spoiler pic from episode 1 at a LJ community and it showed Samuel Campbell (Mary's father) with Dean and Sam, so he got left out of the cast list too. Weird. And confusing lol. That's a different Ben than before though, right? I don't recognize the name of the actor lol.

Thanks, Nikki. :)
I'm glad its the same Ben. I'm a little confused on the age thing though cause in the first ep, Ben was having his 10th bday. Sera when asked at comic con said Ben was 12... but he was 10 in season 3 and this will be season 6, plus we're going a year in the future, so wouldn't he be 13? lol.

Here's a few spoilers under the cut:

In Season 6 We Will Get:

House broken Dean

After promising Sam that he’d hang up his guns and live the good life, Dean will do just that. The action picks up a year after the events of ‘Swan Song’, and our plucky hero will have settled down with Lisa and Ben. “It’s interesting for a character with that kind of past to be domesticated the way he has been, it’s this odd balance of normalcy with complete and utter oddity,” Jensen Ackles told us. “He’s got the white picket-fence but at the same time he still has a shot-gun underneath the bed, the silver amulets above the door and the Devil’s trap underneath the rug.”

Sam mans up

Given how much of a catastrophe Sam has been over the last few seasons – causing the end of the world, getting possessed by Satan – it’s clear that he has to harden up a bit. Which according to Jared Padalecki, is exactly what he does. “Now Sam is very tactical. Not that he’s heartless, but he feels that doing his heart’s job is to protect people that can’t protect themselves, whether there is some loss or some damages in the process, that’s the harsh truth of the war I suppose.”

The Lucifer storyline is done

True to their promises, the crew have confirmed that the angels versus demons storyline is done. “Well, we’re dealing a lot more with monsters again, getting back into monsters and creatures. Angels and demons are a little exhausted. It’s hard to top the Apocalypse,” said creator Eric Kripke. “So it’s about creatures, so we’re bringing back Djinn, we’re going to look at vampires, shape-shifters, skin-walkers, and – as a little tease, because Ben just finished coming up with this idea and because I think it’s so nuts – fairies and goblins and leprechauns, but in a very Ben Edlund way.”

Bobby gets his moment in the sun

Jensen Ackles is directing the fourth episode of the season, and it’s going to focus on our own Mr Singer. “It’s the story of Bobby trying to undo the deal with Crowley for his soul, among other things,” said new showrunner Sera Gamble. “We call it, ‘Weekend At Bobby’s’ and the inspiration for the episode is that we were curious to know what 48 hours in the life of Bobby Singer would be like, what happens when he hangs up the phone. The boys are like, ‘Oh, it’ll take him five minutes,’ and he will find the obscure law that could be in any fucking book in the world.” How hard is it really to do all of that? It’s pretty hilarious and it’s more work than Jim [Beaver] has ever had to do.”

There’s no dearth of content

Addressing questions over whether the show’s story could sustain another season, given the conclusion of its main story, Gamble came out fighting. “If there was ever a fear that we wouldn’t have anywhere to go, we actually had an embarrassment of riches in terms of places to go after we foiled Lucifer. One thing we knew for sure was that we didn’t want to just slot in another ‘big bad’. We had to sit down and take all the pieces of story we wanted to do and think of a new way to attack them.”

Francesca: Will Dean be living with his baby mama when Supernatural returns?
Yes. Source Watch With Kristin :O I wonder if it means Ben ... or another baby oh :O

Fred Lehne Talks Acting and Supernatural, with a Little Teaser! Link

Question: I’m still not clear on how exactly Castiel fits into Supernatural‘s new monster-heavy theme this season.
Ausiello: I’ll let EP Sera Gamble take this one. “Castiel is a full-powered angel,” she explains. “He was restored at the end of last season. He went back up to Heaven, and Heaven is kind of a mess. Dark angels are locked in the basement. It’s kind of chaotic. He has what he feels is a mission to clean things up. That’s where we start him off. He also has a very personal relationship with the boys. That also continues. That’s where we start him this season. He’s in a very interesting position. He’s sort of caught between the problems of Heaven and the problems of Sam and Dean on Earth.”

Jared Padalecki will seize the spotlight as Season 6 launches Sept. 24, when “Sam comes back under mysterious circumstances – as people tend to do when they get out of Hell!” show runner Sera Gamble shares with a chuckle. And though the bros have the Apocalypse behind them, don’t worry about them kicking back with historically disposable love interests. “No, what the boys need is to be hunters, to save people while probably suffering a lot in their personal life on every level,” says Gamble. “That’s what makes them heroes.”

House broken Dean

That phrase makes me giggle for some reason.

I read that as "death" instead of "dearth" and was kind of confused.

Francesca: Will Dean be living with his baby mama when Supernatural returns?
Yes. Source Watch With Kristin :O I wonder if it means Ben ... or another baby oh :O

I'm sure it's Ben. I think the majority of fans believe that Lisa lied and that Ben is truly Dean's biological son, or that Lisa may not have had a test done and therefore is not 100% sure. They better NOT have another kid together. That would be stupid and pointless and there is no place in the Supernatural world for a baby. Babies should stay in fanfics only IMO. That doesn't just go for this show though. I kind of feel that way about most shows.

And though the bros have the Apocalypse behind them, don’t worry about them kicking back with historically disposable love interests. “No, what the boys need is to be hunters, to save people while probably suffering a lot in their personal life on every level,” says Gamble. “That’s what makes them heroes.”

Suffering in their personal life? Does that mean Lisa's gonna die? Or that she's just gonna tell Dean she can't deal with his drama and he has to leave? The latter would be unique, but the former would be more realistic within the realm of this show JMHO.

OK, so my friend went to the Supernatural conference over the weekend, and she said it was awesome. Started with a concert of Jensen's friend and apparently he was really good (although interupted by a woman collapsing in the aisle!)

She said she was amazed by how much more serious Jensen is, and how goofy Jared is, a bit opposite to their roles obviously- which just goes to show how good they are at acting! Mischa was also hysterical, as expected (I follow him on Twitter and he's a bit of a mad genius). He put a water bottle in his coat interior pocket and then humped upa moment later because he hadn't put the lid on tightly enough.

Anyway, she said everyone was awesome, except for the poor guy who played Dean in highschool- he was last minute, flown in just before he went on, nobody met him at the hotel, etc. etc. He wasn't very dynamic because he was super nervous, PLUS, he had to go on right after Jared and Jensen. Poor guy. They did make him say "I'm a hero" though.

Which friend of Jensen's did a concert? Do you mean Jason Manns? Cause Jensen has several friends who are musicians.

I read somewhere that episode 7 will feature an anicent vampire named Richard.

Yes, it was Jason Manns. There was a theory Jensen would show up and participate (he was actually filming on the Friday night, but not that far away in Gastown) but because the woman collapsed in the aisle, there was a big break in the middle of the show (and no first aid people or apparently anyone who knew what to do, but thankfully there was a nurse there) and since they were running late, they figure they probably told Jensen to just forget about trying to come over and join in. Mann was selling his CD's and they all sold out. My friend said he was extremely good.

I hope the lady who passed out is okay.

For anyone who is interested, there are some spoiler pics from episode one of the new season posted at the LJ community called ontd_spnparty.
The pics are of Dean, Sam and their Grandpa, Samuel Campbell (Mary's father).

Oh this just in: A girl in my office just informed me they will be shooting Supernatural at her cousin's house in New Westminster! (burb of Vancouver). I told her she better get me some pictures! And now she wants to borrow my season 1 DVds.

Okay, I'm confused once again by the spoilers lol.
Originally it came out that Dean and Sam's cousin Christian (Corin Nemec) was going to have a son named Mark... but they must have changed it to a brother/cousin named Mark instead. I noticed while looking at info on Cas' first ep this season that Mark Campbell is there and has already been cast. The actor's name is David Paetkau. David was born in 72. Corin Nemec (who is playing Christian) was born in 71... so surely they wouldn't have casted an actor who is only a year older than Corin to play his son, right? So that must mean Christian and Mark Campbell are either brothers or cousins. Cause I thought I read that Christian's son was supposed to be about 14. David doesn't look fourteen at all. So far Mark is listed for two episodes (Two and a Half Men and The Third Man, the latter of which is Cas' first ep this season) where as Christian is only listed for "Two and a Half Men". I really hope that Christian/Corin appears in more than one episode. I hope they don't off his character, cause that would make me sad lol.

I had a feeling this was coming since Sera Gamble has become the producer of the show  :shifty:
More nakedness. (Why is it all the episodes she's written are the ones where Sam gets naked, does the dirty deed and then cries like a baby?) Anyone else noticed that?

Fans of the hit show Supernatural were sort of freaking out when they heard creator Eric Kripke was handing the show over to Sara Gamble for Season 6. She has some new ideas, a bigger production budget and some steamier scenes for actors Jared Padalicki eand Jensen Ackles. Nobody is arguing with that idea. Seen here filming, the two guys look hot on the new set of Supernatural on September 2nd.

"It was a bit of a guard change," Padalecki says, "But it wasn't abrupt. She's been a big part of the show for many, many years. On that note, the show had to change a little bit. Eric's already said that he had a 5-year arc for the show, so now that's ended, we've had to change the actual show a bit."

Jensen Ackles who recently directed his first episode, was impressed with all that Kripke had been in charge of previously. "Eric controlled the size of the script. How big it was, how many characters were written, how many different locations there were, and he was able to really dial it back and make it a doable show within our budget and the time frame that we were filming," Ackles said.

Season 6 premieres at 9 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 24th. According to the guys, not much will change other than a bigger, better and more exciting episode set.

Padalecki was married to costar Genevieve Cortese back in March. So the on screen chemistry should be even more naughty.

"I'm naked a lot more," Padalecki said.

Sweet, that is all it takes for me to tune into anything.
Holy crap! The free keychain you get when you order Season 5 at bestbuy is shaped like the Impala! I figured the keychain would just be a pic of the brothers, but was kind of hoping the Impala was there too (along with Cas and Bobby), but this... this is so much cooler than what I was expecting. I pre-ordered that right away after seeing it (I was gonna pre-order anyway lol). Click to see keychain So freaking awesome! :D

Don't know if you all have this one...

I could really use a Supernatural spoiler fix. Can you help?
ADAM: Series star Misha Collins warns viewers not to expect the same old Supernatural when the show returns Sept. 24, especially with regards to Castiel's relationship with the Brothers Winchester. "Castiel has his own host of problems ... dealing with maintaining a balance of power in heaven," Collins says. "It's really not something Sam and Dean are any longer involved with. Cas is much less concerned with Sam and Dean and much more concerned with his own problems."
