Stargate

Baba - I don't know have I asked before but have you seen Dog's Breakfast? (I don't scroll pages since I'm watching men's half pipe at the same time)
It's David Hewlett's own little movie - it includes his sister, Chris Judge and Paul McGillion

Wonderful scene from that movie http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9FVl-BPnfH4

OK, this may be a dumb question, but does anyone know why they didn't keep Jessica Steen as Elizabeth Weir, and changed to Torri Higginson? Just curious... I actually quite like Jessica Steen.

OK, has anyone been watching SGU since it came back on? The second half has been awesome. :)

Still, why they had to have such a long break in the middle is beyond me. It's like SyFy wants to sabotage their own shows or something, seriously. They did this crap with BG too. Very annoying.

I haven't watched much of the second half, but I did see the episode with Louise Lombard. I loved her role as Rush's wife, Gloria.
Here's a clip with Robert Carlyle talking about the episode: at the MGM site

Yeah, that was a cool ep, especially since Michael Shanks showed up too. :) And I think Robert Carlyle actually directed that episode, if I'm not mistaken?

A friend of mine went to a Stargate con a few weekends ago here in Vancouver (well technically, it was Burnaby I guess) and she said Michael Shanks was hilarious. They'd ask him about filming SGU stuff and he'd say, "well you gotta remember, I filmed most of that last year..." Then he'd ask who in the audience were enjoying SGU and that of course got a lot of response from both sides, and he'd grin and make a stirring motion with his arms and say, "Just stirring the pot..." I guess he did that a few times, and kept things lively. :)

She also mentioned that David Hewlett was awesome and really, really funny too; and Joe Flanigan couldn't seem to remember any of the episodes people asked him about! Hah!

Anyway, looking forward to more SGU. It really is getting better and better.

Oh, cool. I'd heard he directed one but I thought it was the first season. Can't wait to check it out.

In other SG news, Amanda Tapping got nominated for a YWCA Women of Distinction award. Vote for her at ywcavan.org/vote. :)

Does anyone get the official Stargate magazine?

I sent in a renewal last month, and they just sent it back to me with a note saying that the magazine will be discontinuing this summer.

WTF?! Last year they quit the CSI mag, so I switched to Stargate. Now their ending Stargate too?! Idiots!

Stargate is superb show. There is lots of potential within this show. Storyline, cast and action and special effects made each [LINK REMOVED] wonderful. I really love this show very much.

OK, so the season finale was really, really good. They definitely gained some nice momentum towards the end of the season, once they'd established everything they needed to in the first half. I am totally enjoying this show and I hope they can keep it up next season. It was great seeing Mike Dopud back again. I know he did some SGA work, but I thought they might link him in to the bouty hunter character he played in season 10 of SG1, since he actually killed off the then head of the Lucian Alliance. They didn't go that route, but that's OK. ;) Also enjoying Rhona Mitra as Keva. She plays a good hardass. I'm wondering whether they will ever learn to co-exist together at some point, or whether there will have to be a big battle and Keva will end up either dead or well away from the Destiny. Things are definitely getting interesting!

I was just watching a couple SG1's on the weekend and man... what a different Stargate this show is! I'd sort of forgotten how much they've re-visioned it all. I don't think it's better or worse- just definitely as entertaining in my opinion. :)

Okay, I am giving up with Universe. It's boring. It's way too slow. Yes, nice one for being different but if 18/20 episodes are slow, nothing happening, relationship crap. So far season 1 what I can remember are few things.. of course the premiere. Rush left behind, those few others left behind, Rush and that woman kidnapped and the finale.
Now the premiere was boring to me as well.

Really? That's too bad. I'm actually quite intrigued, and like the idea of having some Lucian Alliance onboard now.

It really is very different from the other SG's though, so I can see how a lot of the fans of the originals might not like it. I will say, though, David Hewlett was tweeting about some filming he just finished for SGU, so... it might be interesting to see what they do with McKay in this setting. ;)

I'm not much of a SGU fan anymore. I've usually just been glancing at it while multi-tasking. However, I was pleasantly surprised to see Louise Lombard back as Gloria Rush in last night's episode. If she (or some of the SG1 or SGA cast) continues to make appearances, I'll probably still tune in occasionally. This show is just too dark (literally & figuratively) for me. They need some more laughter. That's what made the other two Stargates so delightful - they could be serious with a bit of humor. This one seems to have none.

Well, I may watch that :p I think I start watching Atlantis again. With SG1, we are still stuck at season 7. Started to go thru my ER box :p

But SGU has probably got some new fans as well. It's just so... slow, boring. and Rhona Mitra is scary. She was scary already in Boston Legal
I feel bit sad that I leave Robert Carlyle like this but hey, that's me. Perhaps one day I have energy to pick it up but not now. Too many shows to watch anyways and between those, there's a busy life ;)
