"SQWEEGEL" Discussion **Spoilers**

Just to reiterate Dr. Langston is NOT A NEWBIE:rolleyes: This is his 3rd season. When someone is hired in workplace or organization, they have a 90 day probation period, then after that probably 6 months to a year and are then considered a "regular". You should all read the review on "SQWEEGEL" on our news files. Awesome. How he's bonded with certain team members. And how good he is doing, and on ratings slipping have nothing at all do do with his performance. He has his own "quirky charm" And the "hourglass" experience the team were all enthralled. Cath has enough guts and spunk to say "Hey Ray, sit down" or Nick as kind as he is would say "Ray, we get it, or this isn't getting it". If some fans disagree with this, that's their perogative, but everyone sees things from a different perspective. Some see it as brilliant and some don't ~

He is a newbie COMPARED TO THE REST OF THE TEAM!!! Why do you not get that??! Because you don't read what we're writing and just reiterate the same erroneous message, which by now honestly seems like you're copy pasting or have some sort of form for. "Ray is not ___ he is excellent/breathtaking/ambrosia/made of chocolate/whatever"

We and even the writers know by now how he is being portrayed; if a small subset of people refuse to see blatant facial expressions as what they really are, that's fine, but don't come here and tell us not to talk about this.

Exactly, and they were NOT enthralled by Ray's 'lesson'.

There just is no other take on it. They did the same thing sometimes when Grissom would go into 'teaching' mode.

WOW, calm down so much rage and anger.. sad.. I never said the things you say I did, so please don't post un-truths, those are your words and it's preposterous to connect them to me. I realize that he's the newset member of the team and I DO GET IT:rolleyes: I just don't get all the not being civil, and not being decent, let alone respect for another fan who doesn't
agree with some on their views. You've got yours, and I've got mine.. And I was asking if fans read the review on this episode, which is positive.. POSITIVE confidant..emphatic..happy;) NEGATIVE denial..refusal.. sad:(

I never said I didn't like Ray. I said I can see how he could be off putting. NOT THE SAME THING AND NOT NEGATIVE! Also saying that the team was humoring him or rolled their eyes at his explanation is not in and of itself NEGATIVE. It's an observation of a scene. The team can be annoyed with Ray from time to time just like Ray can be annoyed at someone else from time to time. It doesn't mean Ray or anyone else on the team is the definition of evil or a bad character.

Constantly telling other fans how they should interpret a scene is in fact what is NEGATIVE. You are entitled to your opinion, but that isn't the same thing as being entitled to shout everyone down who disagrees with you.

He is the newbie of the group and therefore would look at things differently than others. The word "newbie" isn't an insult, it just means he hasn't been there very long compared to the others.

Also, I love Kristine's reviews but they are just that - reviews. They are one person's opinion of the show just like the posts in this thread. They are not the gospel truth on how to interpret the episode or certain scenes. Kristine gets that and I wish others would understand it as well.

Finally, I don't think the person was quoting you word for word. They were trying to illustrate your inability to see Ray and LF as anything other than perfect, which neither are.

"SIGH" this is a useless attempt at anything that's disagreeable with others. Actually this is way off the mark..again.. I don't think he's perfect, but don't like to see any one diced continually.. which he is. My favorite character is not him but Sara..:wtf: I think that Kristine's evaluation is pretty neutral she just posts it the way she sees it..And I'm the one getting "shouted down" so please give it a rest.. thanks'

You're not being "shouted down," you're just getting what you give. If you're constantly rude to other people for expressing an opinion you don't agree with you're going to have to expect people won't respond well to it.

WOW, I'm rude that's rich.. for sticking up for a character who's doing a good job. I just voice my views, theories and opinions.. like eveyone else does and that's not rude at all.. just honest.. If once again, someone doesn't agree with that, it's their business. I'm never rude to anyone, quite the opposite I try hard to let eveyone have their say, and voice their views, and understand always.. I don't see how some fans rationlize this, but that's fine if you feel that way..to each one's own and different strokes:confused:And this is way off track about the episode "SQWEEGEL" so lets all be kind and compassionate and nice to one another and not be disrespectable and no name calling and talk about the episode OK?

*Ahem* ... :shifty:

Okay...my personal view of a "newbie" would be the newest member of a group or a team. And until someone even newer comes along, that particular person will be looked upon as just that. But that is just my opinion. Like I am the youngest of the siblings in my family and no matter how old I get, I will ALWAYS be considered the baby.

As for this hour glass discussion? I can't remember who it is that mentioned it, but I like the idea of it just being a way for Ray to talk out his process in trying to solve the case...or it could be just the fact he was a professor and nothing more. Old habits are often times hard to break. Of course the others, I am sure, have heard this or something similar to this before and probably exchanged looks, all in part of them having experience beneath their belts, but they let it go.

Good analysis DJ never looked at it that way. I was thinking some meant he was new on CSI. But I've got 4 daughters and the baby Kristi, will always be the baby. BTW did fans keep refering to Sophia as the "newbie", when she was on? And on that mansion that we first saw, I wonder who that really belongs to.. nice. And it was so cool to see Mayor Oscar Goodman the real mayor of Las Vegas. Minor role but he had his lines down pat:bolian:

I wasn't a member of the site when Sofia was introduced (hell, I wasn't even watching the show ), but I don't think Sofia would have been called a newbie. From the way I use it, Ray is a newbie because he's relatively new to the career field and to the crime lab in particular. Sofia apparently had many many years under her belt, both in the career field and in the lab. She was assistant supervisor under Ecklie after all. I never thought of Riley as a newbie either. She was already a level 2 and a former cop so she was also experienced when introduced.

I'm only talking about the characters here. Not the actors. I would never consider LF as a newbie.

Maybe all the debate over the word "newbie" in reference to Ray could be discussed in the Character Development thread? ;)

As for the rest of it, everyone is entitled to state their opinions here in a respectful manner. And before one side or the other thanks me as though I'm only referring to "the other guy", I'm not. I'm referring to everyone.

As for telling posters to move on, get over it, stop doing/saying something...that is for the mods to say, not the other posters. And again...I'm addressing everyone.

Aside from that, just a note to the newbies here (and I don't mean Ray ;) ), there is no need for spoiler tags here as the thread title has a spoiler warning in it, but thanks for being extra cautious. :)

Carry on.

Why is it that almost every episode thread has a big fight about Raymond, somewhere in it? :( It makes me sad.

Probably because on these boards no one else so stubbornly defends a character with such one-sided compliments and sycophantic adjectives. I guess it boggles us that someone can be so un-objective with their favourite character.
