Wow some mixed emotions concerning A Scanner Darkly.
One phrase that really got me was:
" A Scanner Darkly is disappointing, especially coming from the usually very solid Linklater. Harrelson and Rory Cochrane’s performances are way too over the top."
I don't know about you guys, but I could care less if their peformances are over the top. I could go to any movie and say "This person couldn't act their way out of a paper bag" But I at least give the characters a chance, and respect the fact that other fans don't seem to have the same opinion as I do. I think I've learned from coming here at Talkcsi, that everyone's opinion however is valuabe nonetheless, and I respect this person's opinion about the acting in A Scanner Darkly. It is in no way suggesting that I'm not going to see the movie.
Personally, I think anything that Rory is in that's new would be considered over the top acting because in CSI:Miami we didn't get much from him and even when we did it was subtle and it worked immensely for the character.
So, I'm still going to see the movie despite what the critics think.
