Re: Speed/Rory #8: 'Who Needs Substance D When We Have Spe
I really like how they called the movie "far less patriotic" than say movies such as United 93, and World Trade Centre. I would take that as a compliment, because really the movie isn't about the survival of a nation, it's about the survival of the people, and how they cope with the Government's failiure to prepare for such incidents.
This movie looks like it'll be from a small portion of the population's point of view, which makes it very relevant in today's society. It's not really based on the Government, and how they deal with it. (It's about the citizens, and the goverment is kind of left out of that circle. They're very separated) - It's almost as if the Government is the antagonist - if you will- of this movie. So I think that movies like these are very hard to come by nowadays, especially given recent events. (I also like how the movie isn't a
direct reference to such events, but more of a simple representation on how people's lives can be affected should something like that ever happen)
Of course I haven't seen the movie, so I might not be right. (I'm not trying to be) but from what I've gathered, it seems to me like this movie has a very topical theme, and it really deserves attention.
