To Delynn, ya know, I don't think he has because of the way that Horatio has developed into a superhuman character. Not real and very much within the documented Caruso ego. I just think the writers tollerate the ego far better, which is a shame to the show's detriment. Somebody needs to grow a pair and tell him no in very firm terms. If he balks, well CSI survived after losing three main characters. Losing Caruso wouldn't kill the series and might just improve it.
Let's face it, if CSIM would drop David Caruso, due to his already established prima donna ego, then CSIM coulds easily survive. The remaining cast is solid and well worth watching. Wiiliam Petersen (the driving force behind the entire franchise) left CSI as well as Jorja Fox and Gary Dourdan, well CSIM can lose Caruso and defintily survive. It can free up the writing staff for more stories for the other characters and make a more satsfying series all the way around. Miami needs to be more intelligent and less juvenile in it's overall presentation. We don't need bring in big name name rap stars, but better wriiten stories and deep character studies. Plug the brains in. Brainy is cool.
What the writing staff needs to hire is Aaron Sorkin. He's a brilliant writer capable of bringing together the real, the absurd and the seriously funny. He was an amazing writer for Emily on the West Wing. He treated all characters equally, with a good mind yet a healthy sense of humor. Jerry Bruckheimer needs to hire this guy for Miami.
