To Delynn, ya know, I don't think he has because of the way that Horatio has developed into a superhuman character. Not real and very much within the documented Caruso ego. I just think the writers tollerate the ego far better, which is a shame to the show's detriment. Somebody needs to grow a pair and tell him no in very firm terms. If he balks, well CSI survived after losing three main characters. Losing Caruso wouldn't kill the series and might just improve it.

Let's face it, if CSIM would drop David Caruso, due to his already established prima donna ego, then CSIM coulds easily survive. The remaining cast is solid and well worth watching. Wiiliam Petersen (the driving force behind the entire franchise) left CSI as well as Jorja Fox and Gary Dourdan, well CSIM can lose Caruso and defintily survive. It can free up the writing staff for more stories for the other characters and make a more satsfying series all the way around. Miami needs to be more intelligent and less juvenile in it's overall presentation. We don't need bring in big name name rap stars, but better wriiten stories and deep character studies. Plug the brains in. Brainy is cool.

What the writing staff needs to hire is Aaron Sorkin. He's a brilliant writer capable of bringing together the real, the absurd and the seriously funny. He was an amazing writer for Emily on the West Wing. He treated all characters equally, with a good mind yet a healthy sense of humor. Jerry Bruckheimer needs to hire this guy for Miami.

I really don't know much about Caruso as an actor so I can't comment. My issue about the crossover is about how different both shows are.I can't even imagine anyone from vegas killing 10 Mala Noche men by himself to put an exemple. From what I have read in general,Vegas fans think Miami is a joke while Miami fans find vegas boring. But I will give it a try if it's done.

Lady has a good point about CSI las vegas and William Petersen.Grissom is one of my all time favorite characters but even after he left,I am still hooked to that show.

Have you be given reason to believe they would or should? He learned his lesson and he learned it the hard way. I think some use his past reputation to their advantage to suit their agenda. He doesn't defend himself because what good would it do? Very few ever give him the benefit of the doubt and he's always found guilty with little or no evidence to support the charge. :(

Well my statement is mostly based on a conversation I had with a friend. I showed him the cast posing with the Stanley Cup and he quipped how they got everyone in the same pose due to the issues they have. When I pressed him, he simply said that some of those guys had issues with Caruso. To be fair I haven't looked into the matter myself. I did see an interview with Adam Rodriguez who spoke well of him and I think Rex Linn as well so if anyone does have issues its not one of them.

I agree with your take on Aaron Sorkin - but respectfully disagree with everything you had to say about Caruso. ;) (And I'll admit it, I don't think William Peterson walks on water - he's okay. I'll take Caruso and Sinise over him any day.)

I find it curious that when other characters on the show do something that fans don't like it has to be the writer's fault. The actor is just doing their job. If Caruso's character does something fans don't like - or someone needs to be blamed for a storyline that fans don't like - it must be Caruso who is responsible. I wonder if he knows he's that all-powerful. ;)

It's okay. I'm used to mostly negative posts about him. I keep hoping that someone will give him the benefit of the doubt. Some do, but his stalker did a heck of a job with the rumors and lies. Okay, I'll stop trying.

I'd like to see David leave CSIM, too. But certainly not for the same reason all the people who dislike want him to leave.

And this has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with spoilers for season 8 - so before the moderators slap me around it's time to get back on topic. (I promise to ignore future negative David/Horatio posts )

I don't want to insinuate that I'm trying to shut anyone else down - just myself. I'd be happy to respond to private messages on the subject.

Flo, where are ya? You're supposed to be my babysitter and keep me outta trouble!
=========================================

After thinking seriously about the new addition to the cast - I'm getting excited about it. I'm starting to think that CSIM could use some fresh blood to help them get outta the soap opera rut they've been sinking into for the past three seasons.

I'm going to try to not judge this guy from past performances and take him as his character is on CSIM - remembering that it's going to take him some time to get his legs under him.

Coming in new to a series that's been on as long as CSIM can't be easy. I'm crossing my fingers that the character turns out to be a smart, serious cop that is a wonderful addition and maybe the start of a whole new team (spirit). Ryan could truly use a friend and so could Natalia. I stress the word "FRIEND"! Please - no more romantic crap. Get back to the science, the victims and resolution of the crime! :)

I'm not too convinced that it was Caruso, or his oh-so-powerful ego, that turned Horatio into Super-Horatio. I'm not saying he didn't have a few words for tptb about it, but look around the franchise, people! -- Horatio isn't the only superfreak out there now. NY has Mac Tayler getting closer every season, & look in Miami - Eric Delko? The man with 9 lives? oh, & do I dare mention Calleigh. No, Horatio Caine is not the only one anymore, but apparently when it comes to him, it get's pinned on his supposed ego.

Losing Caruso wouldn't kill the series and might just improve it.
What tptb did afterward is what I'd fear would kill the series! I'd take Big Red & every one of his flaws over getting in some big-wig actor who takes over the entire show (Uhh Vegas anyone?). Adam, nor Emily would take the lead role - it isn't going to happen - they would bring someone in new to replace him. Personally, I wouldn't want that, just cause I've seen how Vegas has done it. Lord have Mercy, you just know we'd wind up with David Hasselhoff or something

Sorry, I know this has nothing to do with spoilers, I was just responding to what I read. All I'm saying is that people should be very careful in what they wish for. ;)

You're doing great hon.

Anyway just wanted to say something about this topic and then, please let's get back on topic ;)

IDK whether this show can survive without Horatio/Caruso or not and, quite frankly, I don't even want to picture this possibility just because it's not the time, not to mention that I do enjoy his super H  . David Caruso is not going to leave the show, so I really don't see how it is necessary to talk about this possibility now.

The only characters who may leave b/c of the contract and b/c of the storylines which have been developing on the show, especially in the last episodes are:
- Adam Rodriguez, whose character went missing in the middle of the everglade and may be spending some time with some beloved gator, at this point.
- Emily Procter, whose character is flooding the entire city with her tears. Not to mention that we don't know for sure (I mean from actors themselves) whether they're going to stay on the show for the whole next season.

That is if one of the actors is going to leave the show, something which I highly doubt ;)

As for blaming an actor's ego b/c of very stupid storylines, all I'm going to say is ":wtf: are you kiddin'?
I mean no one blamed Adam Rodriguez when his character became the most stupid one who had (sorry, "HAS") a damn silver fragment of bullet still lodged in his brain.
No one blamed Emily Procter b/c of the thousands of absolutely idiotic car crashes, incidents her character has been having for a while on the show.
No one should have blamed Eva La Rue b/c her character, idiotically, (does this word exist? :cardie:) has been absent when some of the main characters who are supposed to be her friends or, even worse, former boyfriends were seriously injured or went missing thanks to TPTB's fantasy.

Sorry, but TPTB have been writing some of the most idiotic storylines I've ever seen on a TV show, and I do find it pretty insulting blaming an actor/actress for this!
Was it idiotic the whole ambush Horatio made in "All In" when he killed the whole Brazilian population? Of course, but even the whole "right & left" mix-up and the whole incident at the beginning of "Stand Your Ground" was idiotic, but no one should ever blame the actor/actress for this...b/c it is just TPTB's fantasy the one which is screwed up.

Once TPTB know how to handle this show in a better way (I mean in a logic way), we'll all be more than happy. I'll be the first one to be more than happy.

I'm sure that all of the actors have had the possibility to kinda influence TPTB for certian storylines, still they must not be crucified b/c of this. Otherwise don't give them the opportunity to suggest anything, if they're all that powerful

Having said this let's get back to the topic which is s8....come on it's already July, how is it possible that we're not having any juicy spoiler yet? I mean they already should be considering some storylines for the scripts :p

I hate the waiting game, especially in mid-summer. So close yet so very far away. Bleh. :p I can't remember if anyone mentioned when they'll be starting to film but if it's soon (if they haven't already begun), hopefully some more spoilers won't be far behind!

That said,

Totally agreed. I don't think I've actually been this excited about a new addition. Whether he plays a big role or not, I'm very hopeful the character will be a breath of fresh air among the team and the show overall -- despite the lack of face time for veteran characters.

Still though, for me it would have made more sense to make the new guy a medical examiner given the apparent budget restraints but maybe they're still able to cook one up (you would think the M.E. role would have been the priority). I just hope we don't see a continual revolving door in there. :/

Thanks to this debate ,I went online to find all about Caruso and I am in shock.:wtf: But that's for another thread probably.

Miami did really good when we had 2 cases. There was team spirit and screentime was more balanced so I still say this can be good.On the other hand ,while I have favorites ,some charactes are just there to me so new blood is good.

:cool:Thank you, Deynn and Mjszud. Rational minds and tighter control prevailed. My reactionary comment would have had me ejected.

Anyone who gets their information online is bound to be shocked. That's why it's there.

Caruso is on Twitter now and he sent a message there and on his MySpace page indicating he's back on set in 3 weeks! Hopefully we'll be getting some decent spoiler very, very soon!

Jonathan Togo has also spoken very highly of him. The only thing I've heard about people not were rumors about some of the female members of the cast not getting along with him, but they were only rumors and I don't put a whole lot of stock in them. I don't mind Caruso at all and I don't mind Horatio. I just wish the writers would make situations a little more realistic. I mean seriously, who can walk through fires and not get burned? But, I very much like the character for the most part and have absolutely nothing against the actor. :) And I don't blame the actor for things the character does.

I don't think people should blame him still for things that happened in the past. People CAN change and grow. :)

Ooh, thanks for that little tidbit, Delynn! I hope we do get some juicy stuff soon. :D

Oops! Gotta make a small correction here. He indicated he was back in LA (from Miami) on Twitter. It was on MySpace that he said he was back on set in 3 weeks. Sorry. Gotta be much more careful about being accurate!

Thanks for giving him the benefit of the doubt, GregNickRyanFan. I also heard there was some difficulty with a female castmate - but only one.

You're welcome. My first response would have gotten me kicked, also. ;) I counted to 100 and tried again.

Yep. The stalker did some permanent damage, I'm afraid. Too many people ready to believe the worst. :(

Unfortunatly, those titles have been up since the beginning of summer, possibly even earlier - I can't recall when they were first posted. I don't think they're accurate.
