Here's an edit for 7.06 ("Do Not Pass Go") - Jo's son Elliot has become her daughter Ellie. Ellie is a tomboy, and everything that was mentioned about Elliot (wanting to go back to Virginia, meeting for hotdogs, etc) stayed the same.
That's big enough to warrant a mention in the Just the Facts thread.
I wonder what the reason is for the sex change. Maybe they couldn't find a male actor they like, or maybe they thought a son would be too close to Reed thematically and wanted to mix it up?
Possibly - although I think the college-age-son will be more of a parallel to Reed than Elliot would have been. Maybe they went with a boy and a girl to make it easier for more casual fans to keep up with the characters. Now there's only one son (and one daughter) to refer to if Jo talks about her family...
ETA: I thought about this a few minutes ago - maybe they're giving Jo a younger daughter so that she and Lindsay can bond over raising a girl? Plus, tomboy Ellie could be compared to Lindsay, I suppose, so there could be some mom-bonding or something.

Thanks for the spoilers. I'm interested and excited about Jo's family. So she has two sons. I hope she has a daughter.

What the frack. Ellie. I thought they are giving her the same name as Mac's stalker in season 5. But her name was Ella.

I did to at frist, but the names are still REALLY simlar, there are thousands of girl names, NY really needs to start branching out with their character names.

Interesting. Kind of like how originally Catherine Willows was going to be the single mother of two girls and that became only one girl.

I wonder why they changed the kid's sex. On another note, what is up with the name Ellie? It's not a super common name like Jennifer or something. Brass' daughter named Ellie. Wow, it seems like this is the third time they've changed Jo's kid. First the kid was a little boy, then a son who happened to be in college, and now he has become a she. :lol:

Well actually, Jo has two kids: a little boy, who now has become a little girl, and a second (adopted) son in college.

Personally I don't see any big deal about the name. It could be they simply kept it as similar as possible within male/female variants with the show already underway. Who knows. (Still better overall than "Haylen" or "kendall"...).
And I hope the change has nuthin at all to do with any character except Jo :lol:. Not Lindsay, not Danny (why couldn't Jo bond with him equally in raising a young kid? beyond the more typical "mom" approach) yada.
Mebbe Sid's daughter, Reed, and Jo's older adopted son can all go bowling and commiserate :lol:. It will be interesting to get to know Jo, and Ellie, to see whether Ellie as a tomboy is polar opposite to Jo or more taking after her, etc.; also how they play that against divorced parents and a dad back in DC whom Ellie may have been really close to. </bored musing>
It reeeeeally would be nice to finally meet Sid's family at some point too
