Season 7 Ratings

That's pretty good ratings consideting it was a holiday and out of normal 9pm timeslot. If I remember correctly new episodes of Medium was getting almost the same ratings (1.2 and around 6-7 million) and picked-up a little bit in recent episodes.

I was thinking the same thing. I hadn't seen that episode so I was glad to see it :) But I would've watched regardless lol

I am yet to see any reason for optimism last years xmas episode notched up 13.55 yet last weeks managed only 10. Before anyone yells friday night yet again might i point you in the direction of Blue Bloods and what it as achieved on the dreaded fridays. A show with the calibre of CSI:NY should be able to mach it easily if nothing else but the truth is several episode's of s6 barely achieved more than a 10 rating when it was still resident on wednesdays.Since the end of the 5th season the standard of writing in general as been poor add to that this season there is a Stella/Smacked hole the size of the Grand Canyon which hasn't even been remotely filled contrary to the sun shines out of Sela Ward propaganda TPTB keep on trotting out. The job of any TV show is to entertain, enthrall and amuse it's audiance but every time TPTB seem to open their mouths, every thing they write seems to do the opposite these days. For a start losing the whole Mac/Jo idea perminantly would be a real shot in the arm the last thing anybody wants is yet another love triangle storyline it didn't work last year it sure as hell wont now can anybody honnestly say they can think of anything worse. We have all waited six incredibly long, painful years for Smacked seven counting this season there is not a snowball's chance we are going to accept anybody else that includes Jo, Peyton or anyone else for that matter.Might i advise TPTB to start praying there is a Santa because they need a Stella/MK type miracle more than ever right now i've said it before and i'll say it again Mac without Stella is like Ross without his Rachel plain wrong.

You hit the nail RIGHT on the head! Personally, even from a SMacked perspective, I am totally aware that Mac is too mature a character to degrade via love triangle which they had the intelligence to drop like a hot potato. For the time being, I'd rather Mac remain single as he strikes me as romantically inert. He lost Claire for pete's sake and no one can replace Claire as well as Stella (Hopefully temporarily) to a lab in New Orleans. Neither can be replaced.

The show is far past it's expiration date unfortunately but the writing they took and yes, several episodes last season dropped to as low as 10.3 million views but that's likely because of how many were turned off by the Mac/Aubrey/Peyton triangle disaster. I truly was appalled that Mac could potentially be degraded like that.

A Jo/Russ/Mac triangle is another epic disaster on the horizon and couple that with angry Mac/Stella fans who aren't quietly giving up on the pairing, it could add up to the show being fed to the angry Grizzly Cancellation Bear. Now I totally understand that any pairing between a supervisor and assistant supervisor would be a can or worms that would be opened, especially if something went sour between them but Mac/Stella would be a pairing that had far better spark than any other NY pairing and still has the potential to work, now with Stella heading a lab of her own. I mean, what could be better than TWO CSI supervisors of separate labs being together? :D

I mean, they can still have a long-distance relationship, now that the obstacles of boss/subordinate romantic train-wreck being eliminated. Bringing MK back or sending Mac to New Orleans, even if for a short time, would do wonders to make fans happy and see us return to the TV, ONE last time, that is if CBS decides it's time to wrap up the show.

For those of us who are old enough to remember it but this reminds me of an animated TV-Series called "Gargoyles" back in the mid to late 1990s. The show truly was a massive hit, and a whole Disney franchise was born, whose popularity among fans lingers even now, despite the actually TV Show long since ending. "Gargoyles" completely broke the traditional Disney mole and left a huge legacy among cartoon fans of that time. Yet, came the third season called "The Goliath Chronicles" which saw everything fall apart until the series was cancelled in early 1997. That third season was almost universally panned and was seen as having killed the show. And after a devoted Brooklyn/Angela fanbase was slapped with the Angela/Broadway couple (Which I don't dislike, unlike Mac/Jo), it truly disappointed many and the show was ultimately cancelled, although comic books have carried the series on in a sense. Even the shows producer admitted he wasn't happy with the "Goliath Chronicles".

I see a lot of parallels between CSI:NY's sixth season, it's dismantling of SMacked, and how Disney's "Gargoyles" went down the toilet in it's third season. The parallels are there, which is why I reference Gargoyles when expressing how upset I am at CSI:NY since July.

To the writers/crew if they ask, "what happened?" if/when the show is suddenly cancelled, don't say we didn't warn them! We warned them about doing this, bringing Mac/Jo into this like the way they are, and thus far, they have not listened and the show will pay the ultimate price for it.

Anyway Back to CSI:NY, Mac and Stella are IRREPLACEABLE! PERIOD! Maybe Gary and Melina weren't necessarily aiming for it when the show started but they have become among my favorite male/female leading duos of all time and their characters became truly human, remarkable, and beautiful, both physically and personality-wise. The paring between them became something that was greater than the sum of them both and there's NOBODY that can come close to being a true love for Mac, the way Stella IS. I hope that if they decide to try Mac/Jo, then protesting fans will overwhelm the fax machines expressing their disapproval.

It would not even require MK returning but it would make closure a lot easier, not to mention TPTB can finally, FINALLY redeem themselves and forgive the sheer mess-up they've done since "Grounds for Deception". I truly loved, and miss this show for what it used to be, prior to the pile of garbage it has become, even with Sela Ward who I DON'T despise by any means. :) I just wish she had joined under different circumstances alongside Melina. :D God, would I love to see Jo AND Stella pouncing on Mac in some case involving a crime taking place in New Orleans. :p

We can conclude the show with a scene of Mac and Stella's teams both being at their wedding and with the Bride (Stella) and Mac (Groom), kissing at the alter, it immediately cuts to credits and Mac/Stella kiss at the alter wraps up the show and it cuts to credits for the last time.

Once again PHANTOMERIK, you truly hit the nail right on the head! :D AMEN!

CSI NY's ratings were already shaky. IMO, like several others shows, when the writer's strike ended, the quality of episodes were NOT the same when episodes started being written again.
As for Stella/Mac fans, I oppose that pairing just like I opposed the pairing people wanted of Lily and Scotty on Cold Case, Stabler and Benson etc.
Anytime a paring like that happens on a cop show, it almost always lead to it becoming a soap opera. The focus is taken off the cases and focuses more on the relationship.
As for Sela, I too feel she's being pushed too much, too fast but when one of the main actresses decides to leave, there is nothing you can do.

Hmm... not sure where to put this, but it kind of deals with ratings (I think).

CBS Shifts "Blue Bloods" time-slot

So if Blue Bloods is being moved (temporarily, they say) I wonder how/if this will affect NY's ratings. The Defenders will take over Medium's spot for the remainder of the season, and Blue Bloods will only be on a different time for (supposedly) four episodes.

*Gets out kleenex* This just proves that it is the end for CSI:NY. I truly miss it terribly and the post-CSI:NY era has been the most difficult transition out of a TV-era I've been through in over 13 years.

Even long ago, I knew that when it came that CSI:NY era would end, it would be an incredibly difficult thing to stomach. Even then, I still had no idea of how hard it would be when MK suddenly left, regardless of she was unhappy with the direction of her character, or if she wanted to do something else after her contract ended.

PHANTOMERIK is correct. For him/her, it reminded him/her of what happened to a 1987-90 "Beauty and The Beast" when it's leading lady Linda Hamilton left, which would destroy the show in it's third season. I'm 28 years old as of this writing and for me, my equivalent of what PHANTOMERIK's description was Disney's "Gargoyles" a decade later, and now, CSI:NY could join that list of shows where cast changes prove fatal in the end.

I respectfully disagree here. While there was occasional "tension" between them, there was never any indication the realtionship would get romantic. It would ruin the "tension" as much as the Ericallegih fiasco has ruined CSIM.

Mac is Mac. He goes by the book, 99% of the time, meaning an interoffice romance would be out of his character. Caring about a coworker...that's a different story.

And yes, great romances in modern TV history have been transformed. Frank Burns left the 4077, and Hot Lips picked up Col Penobscott. Sam had to leave Diane for Rebecca, all the various machinations on Friends, the 4 on Seinfeld dumped romances like dirty napkins...manhands, low talkers, buffer zones, face paint. The list goes on. TV shows that are set in stone are destined to be stoned to death by bored (and perhaps jaded) viewers.

I agree. I never thought that Stella and Mac ever seemed flirty. However, I understand people who wanted them to be a couple found romance in the tension. As for Jo/Mac, it is a little more annoying since she just got on the show. But I understand for my part, I don't like Sela Ward very much so I try to avoid thinking of her having an on-screen thing with Sinise.

Seinfeld was a great show because there were so many different types of characters.

oh for god's sake, if you swore you'd never watch again because saint melina left, don't watch again, but don't try to comment on something you clearly don't get. many many other people are still watching (10 million of em!) and enjoying the show perfectly well enough without her (in fact i like it better without her). she chose to leave (regardless of whether there were factors that made her go it was still her decision), she ain't coming back, so just deal with it and give your whining a REST! jesus!
