Season 11 "Spoiler Lab" Discussion

Here's a tweet from Dustin Lee Abraham:

Everyone ragged on Taylor Swift being on CSI when we first announced it, then everyone ate their words. They will do the same with Beiber.

However, keep in mind that this is the same man who tweeted this:
"Mascara". Friedkin killed that teaser. It's not the most popular CSI ep cuz it was so different. But that's what I liked about it.

Praise for "Mascara". Think about it...

Justin Bieber? Never heard of him before  Must be because I'm from Germany and I'm not reading the little girl's magazines anymore :guffaw:
So he makes "music"? :shifty:

Anyway the guy must be popular, since I even found a German article about him being on CSI in season 11

Oh man... this is just bad, isn't it? I hope he won't be in more than one episode. I mean really... what is CSI? A kindergarten?

As a Canadian, I'd like to apologize to the unsuspecting peoples of the world for unleashing such an abomination on you. Sigh...:(

 totally with you on that one.

As for Kevin Spacey??? I would absolutely LOVE to see a guest appearance on CSI from this man. I could even handle a season long story arc with him involved (wishful thinking). They'd actually be doing something right for a change.

Instead we get Bieber. :wtf:

LMAO I love it!!

I will definitely have to tape the premiere and fast forward through his parts.

Then to read he may have more then 1 episode. Ugh - what is are the TPTB thinking?

I am also disappointed in Liz not coming back. I always liked Wendy.

It may just be the case of one Brit appreciating another Brit's dry sense of humour but I had to grin when I read Siena Guillory's tweets. I think she displays an easy going manner which I like. This might just be a case of British vs. American humour ;) I am personally quite curious about her addition to the show. Does anyone know if she is just going to be a recurring character or a main cast member? Haven't quite got a sense of how she fits in.

Concerning Justin Biber, I belong to that group of people who somehow missed the boat on him and his gigantic fame. I don't think his fame has quite hit the European continent because I haven't really read or heard much about him in the media and I have yet to hear any of his music on mainstream radio or TV (I have easy access to Austrian, German, French TV and BBC 1 & 2). I reckon it's only a matter of time though before we are inundated with all things JB.

I will however say that I intensely dislike this practice of celebrity stunt casting, particularly of pop starlets and for that matter, athletes. I think it's a cheap and expedient way of creating some new buzz for the show but isn’t there a danger that it becomes just about the guest star of the moment and no longer about the main cast. Sure, the viewing numbers most likely spike during these episodes but I don't believe these viewers ever stick around. Personally I think it is beneath a show like CSI. But then, maybe that is part of the new creative direction, have a wildly popular guest star every episode.

Have you noticed how they are still referring to the team as 'Grissom's team'?

Oh yes, I did! This article shows that CSI doesn't really play a big role here :(

CSI was just mentioned this time because this Justin Bieber guy is playing a role in there... :wtf:

Thanks for that, i just dunno who the guy was haha. Definetly agree with the comment that they maybe trying to atract younger viewers. well be interesting to see how this goes with his role in the episode. i would say i dunno who he is coz hes not known over her in the UK but that be a lie coz ive just read that he is hahaha. may i need to get out more or maybe not?? im sure once my daughter gets to the age to watch tv she ill know who all these are. maybe its a good thing shes 4 months old haha :p

Believe me, in British high school he's all you hear. But the usual crowd of girls that are fans of his, well, they're a couple fries short of a Happy meal if you catch my drift. Not the sort of crowd that would think of watching a crime drama show...

Tptb, how old do you think your audience is?! Bloody hell..

*sigh* I don't know what to think. As a forty-something female in the UK who likes rock music, I have no idea who Justin Beiber is but, from what I've read here, his inclusion does seem to be a pretty transparent attempt to grab some ratings. There are plenty of talented actors out there, what other reason would there be to hire a teeny-bop singer who's never acted before in his life?
So saying, hey, perhaps he'll be good at it. I mean, look at Method Man. He's absolutely fantastic! :)

As for this other girl, I don't know. I'm a Brit, and I didn't think her tweets were particularly clever or funny. Maybe I have some animosity towards her already because I know she's replacing Liz Vassey (and possibly HardG), both of whom I thought had great characters. I'll stay open-minded, of course. But I can't help feeling that us die-hard-fans-from-the-beginning are being sold out for ratings.

A wonder how many times he'll do his famous/annoying hair flick! UUGGHH

I feel the same way, Spasm. But still even if this is just a ratings ploy...it doesn't make sense. The average viewer of CSI is a little bit older than 10-16 years old. Why is CSI trying to get higher ratings in a demographic it doesn't even normally get? First Boom Girl and now Bieber? No more, TPTB!:scream: I mean anyone remember how bad Rascal Flatts was in Unshockable last season? *shudders*

Here's another little blip. Not much new, but it does appear he has hired an acting coach. lol

http://www.popeater.com/2010/07/23/justin-bieber-csi-jason-mccann/

It might be more tolerable if CM and co. weren't gushing all over him and making those ridiculous comments about it being 'true event television'. That's kind of embarassing.

Ugh this says that the case regarding the Bieber character won't be solved till later in the season :scream: Which means: We'll see the new chick and the wanna be actor more than once in season 11!!! :brickwall:
