Season 11 "Spoiler Lab" Discussion Part 4

Of course the character Ecklie didn't call Jorja back but on the show he did call Sara the character back. The writers and TPTB knew Jorja was a popular and because of that she was asked to come back. I don't know how much money was involved, it's never stated that, but she was only gone briefly, and then returned to work again with her team mates. And on everyone liked these characters that are coming back where's the polls on that? If they were such big hits then why did they leave?, but more pertinet why are they returning?

I think Warrick returning would be a bit too much...I'd love it if he was in witness protection or something, but it would be too....Miami lol. Too soapy. It is interesting for me though, going between supernatural fandoms where death isn't forever (Buffy) to more real fandoms like CSI.

I don't have huge feelings about Sofia one way or the other...she was never a character I paid a lot of attention to. But I'm not going to disparage those who do like her.

^^It's actually four. ;) While she didn't appear in all of the episodes during seasons 5 & 6, she was in the majority of them. She appeared in all (except for one) episodes in season 7, and then 1 episode in season 8.

;)

She appeared in season 6 & 7 and a little over half of season 5 plus one episode in season 8.

That's a little over 2 1/2 season close to three, not four. Now if your counting the seasons she appeared in an episdoe, than yes, that would be 4. :)

And vegaslights wrong, I could care less how Sofia reacts to Ray, I thought she was boring, before he even entered the picture. He has absoutely nothing to do with her coming back. I was glad when she left she was not a fav. like other fans have their favorites and ones they don't like as you've all expressed, as all fans have and that's fine. I'd just like to see a newbie come on the show. That's my opinion~

Huh?

“Sofia’s a deputy chief now,” executive producer Carol Mendelsohn reveals.

“She’s gotten her shield and she has a real ‘take no prisoners’ attitude.”
As such, when Sofia gets introduced to Langston (Laurence Fishburne), things do not go smoothly.

“Langston becomes involved because Sofia wants to call in the feds, since they’ve now had Haskell sightings in Mexico and all over, which means he’s clearly not in Vegas. Of course, Langston begs to differ,” Mendelsohn previews. “The episode is really about where is Nate Haskell.”

“Sofia actually blames Langston and Catherine (Marg Helgenberger) for Haskell’s escape,” the showrunner continues. “And she blames Brass (Paul Guilfoyle).”

Sofia returning has everything to do with Ray. How else do you think Nate escaped? :wtf:

:shifty:

Personally, I think it's nice to see a familiar face back on show, but that's me. To each their own I suppose. Although, I think it would have been a little more interesting to see Sofia, had she of come back for this weeks episode.

I wasn't much of a fan of Sofia as a CSI - mainly because she was only a plot-mover for GSR - but when they brought her back as a cop with a swagger, sunglasses & a toothpick, they really found themselves a great (albeit underused) atypical CSI female character. She was a cop who had the full knowledge of a CSI's work and knew what was needed in situations in that regards, where other cops (even Brass) had no clue.

It'll be interesting to see how they've changed her as she's become a seasoned cop now, with the title of Deputy Chief.

As far as the "How could she come back and start blaming others?" question - my guess is that she's either still been in Vegas or the surrounding area, so has good knowledge of what's transpired and who has done what. I'm also guessing that she's had a case of a murdered victim that's come back as Haskell being the killer.

Plus, I think it'll be great to have someone come in and start bitching at Ray - with good reason. I can't wait for that scene! So far, all we've seen is Cath get a little miffed at him for working on his own. Everyone else uses kid-gloves spiced with sugar around him

And I also hope Nick has scenes with her. He always seemed rather nervous around her. I wonder if he still would be now that she's a therapist and not a dominatrix any longer.

Well, Nick does need to see a therapist...

Well I can see how she blames Catherine cause she got Haskell to PCPD and well Ray should have known not to stand so close to the bars, Brass he wasn't on board with the idea to bring Haskell to PD

Indeed. Brass was against it from the start, and even though he was wrong about Haskell being behind the bombings, he had the exact same reaction to that as it sounds Sofia is having now.

With Marg leaving next season the show will need some female blood. I'm not sure if Laurence has decided to return next season (or even Paul for that matter), but there's just too much testosterone going on lately. Instead of bringing in someone new, why not just bring in someone that viewers already know and (the majority) love?

If Jorja isn't full-time next season, there won't be any full-time female characters unless they add some new ones. I'd much rather see a familiar face return (with good reasoning), than more new faces. It's been hard enough getting used to Ray.

Personally, my vote would be for Wendy to come back as a full-fledged CSI. Sofia as a regular cop again would be great too, if it works with her current position and Louise wants to. I liked her much more as a detective than a CSI, but the show needs to keep a balance of male and female CSIs.

Frankie's alright, but Sofia was the original "tough cop lady."

I agree with those who said that Sofia was better as a cop than she was as a CSI.

I have to wonder if Ecklie will be in the episode that Sofia returns in. I'd be interested to see how they interact with each other and if there's still some bad blood there after what Ecklie did to her.

GregNickRyanfan, What did Ecklie did to Sofia? I don't remember what he did to her. I thought Mckean did to her or something.

Ecklie demoted her back in season 5. McKeen offered her a promotion in season 7.

Didn't McKeen's offer come with the condition that she sleep with him though or was that in a fic I read?

I don't recall that! Someone has something naughty on their mind though. ;)

It must have been in a fic I read. I just remember McKeen being a womanizer or something and sexually harassing several women, Sofia being one of them. Sometimes in my brain fics get mixed up with actual show storylines.

I wake up and find this epic announcement!

God, I'm so happy!! I love Sofia! She has always been one of my favorite characters and you have no idea how ecstatic I am! I hope it's for more than one episode. It would be so awesome if she actually came back for good (or at least as a recurring character).
