So, according to industry spies, the majority of the fan base says Ray should go, so Carol Mendelsohn is going to say, "Okey dokey, he's out."? Not bloody likely.

NO NO NO, that's the opposite. I think he wants to go, not the fans, after 3 years of a TV show maybe he's itchy to get back his base. Carol loves him, she hired him. I hope I'm dead wrong I like him on the show
;) Here's an article with her and the then CSI writer Naren Shankar saying~

"Laurence Fishburne topped their "dream list"", he's a powerful & intense actor, with incredible range" yes indeed~

To clarify, no one said that the majority of the fans want Ray out. What was said was that the majority of fans are tired of the Haskell storyline. Completely different thing altogether.

TPTB are going to do exactly what they want to do and hope the fans like it. And the only message that is going to get through is that if people don't like it, they'll stop watching. That hasn't happened enough to make a difference.

I do agree that tptb are going to do whatever they want regardless of fan feedback. Well, some shows may consider it to an extent, but ultimately they're still going to do what they want. However, as to why the ratings haven't gotten low, I think that might be because people are probably still watching the show out of loyalty to their favorite characters as well as for a show they loved for many years before all the cast changes started.

Personally, I'll still watch the show, but when it sounds like there's a storyline I'm not interested in, I'll record, watch later and fast forward if I don't want to watch particular scenes. My annoyance with the Haskell storyline is merely because they took a character I really liked (as much as you can like a villain lol) and used him so much that now I'm annoyed whenever I hear he's going to be in an episode. There really is a such thing as too much of a good thing lol.

Good point GNRF, it is getting a bit old, although the Natalie Davis saga was run througout S/7, remember nobody knew who did it, [Hodges cracked it] till towards the end. They'd be great chatting about all their victims, Natalie and Nate. I had a postal clerk ask me when I started really liking LF as Langston and I said CSI. I've got some of his movies and liked him, but this role [and I'm a fan] was I think one of his best career moves . If any one saw any of his flicks and not "The Matrix" I hate that movie [I'm not a sci-fi fan] they'd be a bit more receptive to him. My take on this character/actor~

With the spoilers of the Ray/Haskell scenario being played out in episodes 20, 21 and 22, I can see how it seems like they are dragging out something that could have been wrapped up in few episodes. But I think we just need to reserve judgment until we actually see the episodes.

As far as LF wanting to leave or not, I don't think anything has been said specifically so again we might be jumping the gun a bit on thinking he wants out.

I am glad that Marg will wrap her appearances up next season because she does deserve as dignified a goodbye as Jorja and Billy felt theirs were.

OK, so makes you say he wants to be done with CSI? What "handwriting on the wall" are you talking about?

Just a gut vibe on him, my own feeling. Reading everything about him, and the other characters too. I just think he wll be the one who's nuked in the finale. I hope I'm dead [no pun intended] wrong. They all know everything, but keep it a secret till they want to release it. I remember long ago when a TV Guide writer said that Jorja Fox as Sara would end up dead in the "Living Doll" ep. but he was dead wrong. She survived. So we won't know till the finale. who lives and who dies:confused:

:wtf: I just want this Ray/Haskell thing to end immediately! :scream:

I'm happy Catherine's extended up to next season. The writers should really take time to develop a great send-off story for her OR maybe by that time Marg will finally stay with the show because LF is already out! :p

I think Marg will leave, I hope (although I know they won't) whether LF stays or goes they will give Marg the first credit for her final episodes, she's been the lead for 11 years now, and she's the highest paid in the franchise.

LF should go, IMO, Jorja & George should be the leads once the current have departed, I'd actually like to see Marg leave in an "nobody survives" shootout, like Jenny in NCIS.

I hope Catherine just decides that she's going to be Queen of the Vegas casinos. That would be fitting for the lovely lady.

I'll take more Cath if I can get it.

Is there word on if we'll get a cliffhanger again or not? I usually refrain from watching season ending cliffies so I'm not nuts all summer. Plus, Ray, not a finale I'm really excited about again.

Haskell's death will be good though. Good riddance.

I think the Ray Haskell plot is wonderful. Raymond really has to face some demons when he faces Haskell. I don't know why some people are so against it, but hey different strokes for different folks.

Well, I think it was a good story the first time it was on...and maybe the second time. But this is overkill, no pun intended, I think. People may have liked it but some are tired of it. And some aren't. That's how it works, I guess. :)

Huh? Since when does whether Marg stays or goes have ANYTHING to do with whether LF stays or goes? I've always gotten the impression that Marg doesn't have that kind of ego. All the articles say she's ready to do something else, ready for the next chapter of her life. And she said MAYBE a few episodes, she hasn't signed on for next season yet. No one has.

I don't really mind the Haskell/Ray storyline, but it has dragged on too long. Ray-in-crisis has been the focus of all 3 finales since he came on the show; Ray shooting someone, Ray being stabbed, and now Ray 'vanquishing' his nemesis. I think that may be where some of the resentment lies.
I wonder if the Squeegal finale was shelved when the season was shortened from 23 to 22 episodes. They obviously ran out of time to do all they wanted to do. And, I think Marg is staying around with the sole purpose of giving her character a nice exit. If they had had time to do that this season, she probably would be gone.

Robinjn, I've noticed that the last several posts that you have made in this thread have been very confrontational and argumentative. While it's perfectly okay to respectfully discuss and debate differing opinions, it is not acceptable to argue and accuse others of "bitching" or to tell them to change the channel, etc. Everyone is allowed to have an opinion and express it here, including you, but please be respectful of differing opinions.
