Season 10 "Spoiler Lab" Discussion Pt 3

The time switch is probably so they can convince The Mentalist's bigger audience to stick around for CSI so they can dominate both hours.

^ That's what I think. If it helps both shows, then I don't see why not. Anyway, we'll see. :)

Some of you probably know that Mag's contract expires at the end of season 10. I just read a short article with a rumor on what's going to happen to Catherine and what it has to do with Marg's move. In short: They're probably going to pull a Warrick on Catherine in the season finale, and whether Marg renews her contract will determine whether Catherine lives.

Please do keep in mind that it's a rumor as of now. Personally, I hope it's not true. I mean, I wouldn't mind if Marg leaves the show. She's been there for 10 years after all, but that kind of storyline is getting really, REALLY old.

Here's the original article: The Rumor Rat

ETA: On the other hand, it could be someone Catherine is close to, and that will determine whether Catherine stays in Vegas or not. LOL I really shouldn't get myself worked up...

Aw, Divine Ms. M. =(

I agree with you, E, about the whole overused storyline. I really hope that it's not Cath (or Vartann or Lindsey or even her mother for that matter) getting shot or stabbed or hit by a car or attacked by a rabid bunny or whatever stupid torture plot device they come up with. The poor woman's been through enough in her life. Can't they do something simple where she's offered another job (within the department, of course, so M can appear at her leisure...), or finds out that Sam wanted her to run his casinos or SOMETHING, and the final scene is her saying "I have a huge choice to make..."?

I really hope that rumor isn't true.

Done rant.

On a side note, I'm kinda excited for World's End. I really hope that we get to see Lindsey. It looks like it has the potential to be an angsty Catherine episode, which would be nice, since it's been since about this time last season that we had a good Marg centered episode.

'Pull a Warrick on Catherine'... Now that is a very scary thought. That would be horrible. If she leaves, and I don't mind that she does, she should go because of a happier reason. First Sara burned out, than Warrick died, than Grissom burned out. Another burned out/dead CSI... It's not only getting old, it's starting to annoy the hell out of me. And I'm sure not only me. Maybe it is greener pastures calling her, or anything down that road. Anything else is just too cruel. Not even real life is that way.
But that's just my humble opinion. Producers/writers and who ever makes that kind of decisions will do as they would, regardless of what the show fans think. Not fair. Not fair at all.

If that rumor's close to truth, Vartann may be a dead man walking.:(

Or Lindsey. I just don't think Vartann would make as big an emotional impact as Lindsey would. Now I'm starting to wonder if the case in "World's End" will lead to something...?

Dear CBS: A nice happy ending would be the FBI call Catherine "Hi, you're MUCH better at this CSI stuff than we are. Come here and teach us all to be King Kong on Cocaine. Love the feebs."

Someone posted not too long ago (can't remember who) that Marg would be staying at least through Season 11... so I doubt that rumor is true.

However, as for an exit for Catherine, I would like her and Vartann to stay together and maybe even them getting engaged... and then him getting a job offer somewhere else and telling Cath and wanting her to move with him... and then she's left to make that kind of a decision. But with Linds grown and in college, Cath would probably come closer to deciding to leave Vegas than she would have when Linds was still a kid.

There was that thing about Greg getting a new job though. If Cath were to leave, I would think Nick would become the new supervisor and Greg the assitant supervisor. :shrugs: I doubt that's gonna happen though. Greg's new job would probably be something else. Maybe he could be a co-assistant supervisor. I dunno...

You know, I really don't like the title of that epp. It doesn't sound good. Vartann is not a dead man walking, if the impact of 'that something' is so great that Catherine would leave LV or who knows do what in order to be gone from the show, it would have to be someone much closer. Even closer than Warrick.

Ipstenu - I like your letter. Should we make it a petition?

Killing Catherine would be too much. Like I said in my previous post, so much bad luck can't be found even in real life, not even with the help of Marphy's laws.

Edit: GragNickRyanFan - I like the way you think. That would be a good way to end someone's participation in the show. A happy end.
I don't think that Greg would ever get such an important role. Sara, if she stays, would probably be in that place. Or even Ray (I really don't like the guy - forgive me - and have a bad feeling that he would step over Greg because the actor is a bigger star than Eric, no matter Greg has seniority over Ray).

Well, we'll see. I hope that for once we'll be surprised in a good way.

The article says the final scene of the final episode this season "will involve a lot of bloodshed for Catherine" which of course could mean for someone close to her as well. "Pull a Warrick" was the poster's line, not a direct quote. :)

I really hope it's not like the season finales with Sara and Warrick where the fate of the character was left up to the actor's decision whether or not to return. (I know...I know...Gary Dourdan...really probably not his decision) At least in Season 5 they showed the second half of Grave Danger as the season ender and didn't leave it up in the air all summer.

And, I also think it would be kind of cheesy to have yet another loved one in Catherine's life meet an untimely and violent death. As others have said, what's wrong with just letting her move on as someone would in real life?

My first thought was that it could be Brass. I believe Paul's contract is up at the end of S10 too and I will be surprised if he signs up for another season. Since he's part of the Grissom/Catherine/Brass friendship trifecta, maybe something happens to him to make Catherine consider leaving. But that would potentially mean another two cast members jump ship and after what happened last time multiples left, I don't know if the show could take it again.

Actually, that article said Marg would like to stay for another season. You see, saying what you want in an interview and having a real discussion on the contract are different things. There is much more to consider, and I assume a raise would be involved. To me it looks like either they're still in talks or the deal has been made but is kept secret.

Of course I hope this rumor isn't true. No matter whose life it's indicating, I think TPTB can do way better than that.

I too would ask the same question, but as we all know, it doesn't make for exciting television. Exciting television means higher ratings, no matter what the cost.

But Catherine is to great of a character to let go down in flames. Sure she deserves an exciting and worthwhile exit from the show, but there has to be something more then just death that would be considered exciting.

Hopefully both Marg and tptb make the right decision. And I hope tptb realize what a great asset she is to the show. Cause if she is the next to leave, then, for the first time, I would really feel that it would be the beginning of the end for the show.

i won't be happy if marg leaves, but then again what haven't they already done to cath?? kinda like with edie on desperate housewives

i'm not ready for a new supervisor (i'm not sayin nick couldn't do it, i think he'd be great ) i just got used to cath being the leader of the team(and not griss) so i'm not ready for her to go this season, season 9 i couldn't tell who was the supervisor and i was still missing grissom, this season has helped with showing more of cath as the boss

paul, they need to do something with his character already, either give him a storyline (like ellie showing up for example) and/or some screentime (cause he never gets any), or write him off, i'm just tired of the character being done that way

and the issue of how much longer will sara be here, i know she's supposed to be in the rest of the season, then what? the team will be short handed if she's not here for s11, which could make room for wendy to become a csi finally :)
