Season 10 "Spoiler Lab" Discussion Pt 3

What if "a lot of bloodshed for Catherine" is metaphorical bloodshed? Or what if it means that she has to shoot a suspect or something?

Wendy would probably become a CSI, and soon (if the show continues after this, or 11th season - how the things look at the moment I'm afraid it's going down, high ratings or not). There were always six or seven CSIs on graveyard shift. When Sara left and Warrick died there were five, and now we have only four CSIs (when Sara is not there to step in). Their number is going down, and it should have been raised a long time ago. They are understuffed for too long. So, even if Sara stays - Wendy should become a CSI. It is better then a new addition to the already strained team.

I love this show. It is the only one I watch at the moment (for a long time actually), and I would hate to see it end. But it is not done properly anymore. While some characters grew, other seem to fade away. Cath was never a good leader. I'm sorry, but that is the way I think. She's better now than in the fifth season (disaster, and not because of the Nick being kidnapped - that could have happen under any super), or in the nineth - when Nick stepped in so many times, and took leadership without anyone even noticing. She doesn't have it in her, but that is only my opinion. Don't get me wrong - I like her. And I really don't want to see her hurt. But now I lost the plot completely. What was it I wanted to say?

Oh, yes. The show lost to much. It lost spark with Greg becoming older and wiser. It lost life without Warrick and Nick banter and bets. It lost poetry without Grissom.

This season has more happy/funny moments, more moments where the family part of the team is pointed out. They should keep it. And they try with bowling, with Wendy and Hodges getting more screen time and going more out of the lab, with Nick and Greg friendship (or more ), and Hodges in there with them (hitting the mail boxes, going out with Henry). They are family, and families should not fall apart like they make this one burn out.

I'm sorry for the rant. I couldn't help myself. I'm so angry on the writers for all they have done, this season being the best (for me) can't make me feel different. They all deserve happiness, Nick, Greg and Catherine most of all. Nick should settle down, find someone. Greg should too, though he's still young so to speak. Cath should end her carier going to some better place because of her free will, not because she died, or someone close to her (again). There is only so much pain a person can take. I know it first hand.

CBS, please don't do anything stupid. Please do it the right way. It can be exciting without anyone dying or getting seriously hurt. The season finale can be great without a cliffhanger or a disaster.

And I'm done, won't do this kind of babbling again. Sorry guys.

I thought Marg said she might leave after S/11 and the rag is called Rumor Rat, so my money is on her keeping her original word and maybe leaving after S/11:thumbsup: When it's posted as 'real news' on our own 'files' then I'll believe it~and Lil_janie I don't feel as you do at all, to me S/9-10, have been some of the best in CSI history.and the ratings are still up there.. I've watched every ep. since the onset, and we did lose some major players Grissom and Warrick, but life moves on. I think the new character Dr. Ray is sensational and has filled some big shoes, [size 13-1/2 to be exact] The whole team seems to be calmer, and more peaceful, with his presence and they all get along fantastic with him [hats off to the writers] The stories still are intense and the best writers in TV. If Marg wants to move on so be it, time will tell, for now CSI still rocks 'n' rolls~

Well, IMO, the "bloodshed for Catherine" seriously screams at me saying that Vartann's life is in serious jeopardy (why else would they bring the C/V relationship to the forefront now?) and Catherine has to decide if she's had enough of her life being continually in the crossfire as a CSI and constantly around death. She'll decide to give it up and either get involved in Sam's casino stuff or become an advocate. Remember at the end of the Cross Dressing Carp ep where she had those thoughts as well?

Is Marg Helgenberger Leaving?

Interesting story on RumorRat about scenes being shot for the season finale that seem to indicate her character will be left hanging...

So is she leaving or coming back next fall?

You know what I would like should they go down the "Catherine in Peril" route? I think they should bring back an "enemy" of hers... Like, Okay:

They wrap up the Dr. J. case, and have her and Nick be leaving, and him be like "Crap, I need the such and such file." Cath could be like "Just go grab it off my desk..." And they part. Well, Nick goes back, and her phone is ringing, and he answers it, and it's like a hospital or prison warning her that someone she put away has escaped and that they may be looking for revenge (Leo Finley from A Thousand Days on Earth would be perfect - say he was getting treatment for depression and constantly talked about Cath). Well, the final scene could be flipping between Nick running to the parking garage and Cath walking and just as he gets there and yells her name, Leo shoots her. /endseasonToBeContinued.

Could be interesting...but I'd rather if M leave it would be her and Tony (coughorGrissomCOUGH) sailing off into the sunset cause she hit the lottery...

Personally I'm kinda tired of the 'lets put someone in danger' season finale's. Lets get back to ones like we had in the early seasons where they just solve a good strong case.

I also can't help but wonder how 'reliable' a site is that has 'Rumor' in it's name?

As a reminder, all spoilers are speculative and none can be considered fact until...well, until we see it shown on the episode, I guess! But you are free to discuss the possibilities. :)

Re: Is Marg Helgenberger Leaving?

This information has been posted and is currently being discussed in the Spoiler Discussion thread, so I am moving this there. :)

LOL I'm tired of the Character in Peril thing too, but if they were to go down the road, that is what I'd want to see. I though Leo and Cath meshed well, and he was in her head...though he did say that he was going to blow his brains out, so that could be the bloodshed...But I digress!

Oh, well, we shall see! Best not to think too much about it. I'd rather get through one ep at a time. ;-)

Ok, I don't mind the CSI in peril thing, as long as they do something different.

As for Catherine leaving, I really don't think we have to worry about it until the end of next season.

Maybe she'll marry Vartann and then being burnt out, she decides to run the Braun Empire, so that's what she does, along side Vartann who'll be the head of security for all the casinos. Then Lindsey will go to UNLV, decides to be like her mom, and starts to get her degree in Criminal Justice and interns at the lab, where Nick is now the graveyshift supervisor and he can be Lindsey's mentor, thus coming full circle. See happy ending.

Why can't they just let a character go in peace. No burn out. No angst. No death. If Marg does leave, let Catherine just go her own way on her own terms. For once, that would be nice...

Well technically Grissom went in peace in a way. Some burn out but overall he was just ready to go and start a new chapter of his life.

Well from all the tv sites I've been checking out, they still seem to think CSI is going to be renewed for next season. Personally I can see Marg hanging around at least one more season.

I hope Marg doesn't leave either, but at the same time. If it's Vartann..it's going to be boring.

It's probably a cliff hanger where we don't know who comes back or not:(

One small thing: Isn't the "bloodshed" for Catherine in ep 19? If so, that's unlikely to be the season finale (given that there's supposed to be eight new episodes, incl. this week's), so whatever THAT is, that probably will be resolved by the end of the season.

And, y'know, I can't actually think of a season where it DIDN'T end with a CSI (or major character) in some form of peril. Granted the ending of The Hunger Artist is a lot less immediately dire than Living Doll, but it's still pretty dang perilous for Grissom. Even The Strip Strangler had some degree of peril to it (albeit wrapped up by the end of the episode).
