okaay...here goes..

How to Train Your Dragon 3D - Loved it. I've actually got nothing bad to say about it, it was fun, well written, awesome effects that looked even more awesome in 3D, and the whole thing was adorned with an amazing score. Also love Craig Ferguson and Gerard Butler, so can't go wrong.

Repo Men - Not too bad. Would've like it exceptionally more if I wasn't already such a huge fan of Repo! The Genetic Opera (2008) directed by Darren Lynn Bousman based off the broadway original. It was an incredibly unoriginal story, and since I've seen REPO! so mny times, I could think nothing but bad thoughts the whole time. Although it did have great acting, and effects. Music wasn't too bad either, but it's got nothing on REPO!.

Sherlock Holmes - Again, no bad thoughts. I didn't by any means think it was outstanding...but it was entertaining, definitely a good film for Guy Ritchie. Again, I love Robert Downey Jr. so the chances that I wouldn't like it were slim =)

A Nightmare on Elm Street - It's a classic, I love it. I've seen it before, but evidently forgot most of it. I completely forgot Johnny Depp was in it, which was a nice surprise :rolleyes: I'm excited for the remake, but hope it doesn't take anything away from the original.

The Beguiled - Weird. I love any Clint Eastwood movie, and this was no exception. It had a wonderful story to it, but it was difficult to get into because the story was so...wrong. No other way to describe it really, but it was a [little known] Clint Eastwood masterpeice thast deserves more recognition than it has received.

The Departed - Absolutely loved it. Leonardo DiCaprio is amazing, as always. Again [I'm aware that I sound like a broken record] I like almost any Martin Scorsese film. This was no exception.

Shutter Island - Amazing. Absolutely amazing. I've never read the book and had no idea what to expect. I was floored at how good it was. The twist was absolutely incredible. I'm actually rendered speachless upon trying to describe it.

And last but not least (drum roll please) ....

SAW VI - Of course I've seen this opening night and about a thousand times since, but it never loses any of it's magic for me. It's not my favorite in the franchise, but it's damn close. SAW I-III are [within the fandom] accepted as being amazing without question. SAW IV is where the questionability of the series start to come into play. I personally loved IV, which was took place during the same time period as III. SAW V is where everything started to crumble, this was when the franchise was taken over by director David Hackl, whose direction went under fire alot as a result. Kevin Greutert took over the directors spot for VI, and completely revived the series. So much that they fired David Hackl from VII to re-hire Kevin Greutert (although it messed up his plans to direct Paranormal Activity 2) and they got the okay to make SAW VII in 3D which comes out October 22, 2010. As of now VII is set to be the last in the series, but it opens on the same day as Paranormal Activity 2, same as last October where Paranormal Activity beat SAW at the box office, forcing this to be the last. However if SAW VII makes a more than decent profit at the box office, Mark Burg is convinced that they will get a call telling them to do VIII.

I know I'm ranting now, and I apologize, I'm not trying to plug it but will you all see SAW VII? Contrary to popular it's not tortureporn. It's got an amazing story that has fueled it for 6 years. It's the reason I'm only on this forum once a month, I'm an active member over on the saw forum (House of Jigsaw), I like it because there's no censors on the forum. free for all :bolian:

^^^ I'm thinking we have similar tastes in movies since I agreed entirely with all your reviews. :)

Just saw The Runaways, and it was pretty good! Unlike most, I've always liked Kristen Stewart (aside from the Twilight movies which have mostly just sucked, at least so far), and so I wasn't surprised at how good her performance as Joan Jett was. Ditto for Dakota Fanning as Cherie Currie, but then again she's always good (even in New Moon, :lol: )

Anyhoo, I nice little biopic.

Just about to watch Willow for the first time in a decade or so... I hope I still love it! ;)
 
I've recently seen The Boondock Saints and The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day. I loved both movies!

The Boondock Saints- i loved this one because i like how out of order things were. like the Saints would get ready to start a job then the scene would change to the FBI Agent would tell how it happened. it had some great humor in it and it is now one of my favorite movies. when i first saw it, i thought "Why haven't i heard about this movie before?! It's awesome!"

The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day- This movie was pretty good for a sequel. i liked how they talked a little more about Il Duce's past, how he became a hitman and why he kept his mouth shut in prison. Julie Benz and Clifton Collins Jr. were great additions to the movie. my favorite scene had to be the dream sequence where Rocco gives the "Real Men" speech. great movie can't wait to buy it!

anyways, i recommend these movies and i hope you like The Saints just as much as i do.
 
I watched daybreakers last night. i was so looking forward to this movie and it let me down! it wasnt horrible, but it certainly wasnt good either. i was excited to see a movie with a different take on the vampire myth, and this movie seemed like a good idea, but the execution was pretty boring and at some parts pretty cheesey. unless you really like vampires i would skip this one. the trailer made it seem like an action movie (it is certainly not a horror type vampire movie) but it takes a long time for anything to really happen, and even then there is not much action going on.
 
anyone seen the new Clash Of The Titans yet? I'm wondering if it's worth the extra dollar or so to see the 3D version. :lol: Or if its a waste of 3D like Avatar was (though I liked the movie itself).

I watched a movie called Sea Monster or Sea creatures or something last night. It was on Sci-fi's channel last weekend. It's got Corin Nemec (Stargate) in it and Miriam McDonald (she's from Degrassi). Anyway, it was an okay movie I guess. The creatures were weird looking. The deaths were pretty predictable... meaning you pretty much knew who would get killed. But it wasn't expected to be wonderful since it's probably one of those straight to video or made specifically for Sci-fi channel movies. :lol:

My brother told me that it was filmed in 2D and the 3D was added later, so I guess technically it was an afterthought. :lol: I was so hoping the Peagus would be in 3D. That would be cool! :lol: But, oh well. Guess I was will to rent it then. The theater is so expensive these days. :lol:

Dinoshark- another one I recorded off of sci-fi. This one wasn't horrible, but not that great either. It tried to be a little too much like Jaws though. It had some similiar music whenever it's show the shark, and the line at the end was "welcome to the endangered species list, you b*stard" instead of the "smile you SOB" from the original Jaws. :lol:

Aren't all these sci-fi movies that SyFy is putting out now supposed to be of the camp, 1960's style/genre? I think Misha Collins just did one about Stonehenge... I think they're trying to re-do the tongue in cheek sci fi movies. Get ready for Sharktopus! :lol:
 
Mega Pirahna- Okay, I knew this would be goofy, but... yeesh. Every time they tried to kill the things they just kept growing like the "Crites" in "Critters". :lol: And the bigger they got, the more ridiculous they looked. Jumping out of the water and attacking buildings. :lol: I know they're supposed to be campy, but there was one scene where a guy got grabbed by one and you could tell that he was standing in front of a screen. :lol:

But so far none of these have been as bad as "Raptor Island" where the dinosaurs all had those toy "shaky" eyes. :lol: And the airplanes and boats were all so obviously toy models. :lol:

Yeah, I can't wait for that one. I think it's Monoloith Apocalypse or something like that about some kind of rock monster. :lol: Should be fun. Even if it sucks, at least I get to look at Misha. :D

The Heartbreak Kid: Ok it wasn't so bad as I've expected but it wasn't good too. I had a bit fun for nearly 2 hours but I wouldn't watch it again like the most Ben Stiller movies. Maybe it's just me but this actor can not impress me.
 
Date Night- i thought this movie was hysterical. i heard about Tina Fey and Steve Carell working together like 2 years ago so i was excited to see this. they are so damn funny together. it was a good time. a lot of the scenes were improvised and you can totally tell b/c they were the funniest parts. after this Tina Fey is even more amazing.

The Blind Side- i liked this, it was pretty good. Sandra Bullock totally deserved to win the Oscar for her role. it was a nice movie to see after usually always watching a violent movie with my (mostly guy) friends and brothers.

Kick Ass- did not like it too much. it should have been called "Hit Girl" instead b/c she was the whole movie and the best part.

The Trouble with Harry- not one of my favorite Hitchcock films. the story was pretty funny it wasn't anything great. it was different from his other movies it wasn't a thriller. i think i couldn't take it too much b/c Shirley MacLaine in in the movie and she pisses me off most of the time.
 
Just saw Kickass. Not bad, not awesome... It had some cool parts and the whole concept was cool, but I found it dragged in the middle. And as mentioned above, Hit Girl is sort of the breakout star of the film.

I hate remakes! Yes I'll admit the only reason I actually paid to see this is because I have this weird little crush on Kyle Galner and I love Katie Cassidy's work too. But I hate remakes, it's like new directors jump in mess up the original story and act like they can take complete credit, when it's obvious that they're just twisting around facts, characters and screwing up ideas originally written by much better writers and directors that they'll ever be. Wes Craven probably cringed at the writing and how his creation played out on the screen.

I know their purpose was to make Freddy creepier, but he was so creepy that the movie was borderline boring. That's why the original series was such a hit, Robert Englund has a way to be both sarcastic and creepy at once. Jackie Earle Haley didn't do anything for me. The only thing scary in this movie was merely people jumping out of random spots etc...

Nancy and her boyfriend Quinton are convinced that Fred Krueger is not guilty of molesting children. In the remake, Freddy works at a daycare as a gardener and lives in the basement. He lures the kids down into the basement (all of the main cast who he slowly starts to kill off) and takes pictures etc. Nancy is his favorite victim. Instead of him coming back to kill the children for getting back at the parents for burning him alive, he comes back to kill the children for telling the truth of what he did.

Basically they "used" a few of the scenes from the first movie, all I could make out was:
1) Freddy coming out of the wall while Nancy was sleeping.
2) Freddy's glove coming out from the water while Nancy's taking a bath
3) The scene from the orignal where Tina (now named Kris) is killed in her room and her boyfriend is arrested for doing it. The boyfriend is later killed in the jail cell.
4) Tina in the bodybag
5) The original had the bed suck Johnny Depp into it and blood exploded all over the ceiling ... this time around the blood fell through the ceiling onto the bed :lol: really?
6) Nancy got stuck in bloodlike goo, which reminded me of her getting stuck in the stuff as she went up the stairs.

There were probably some more ... but I didn't catch them.

Another problem I had was inconsistences, where lines were stolen from films later than the first:

"Your mouth says no,no but you body says yes,yes" was originally "Your eyes say "no, no." But my mouth says "yes, yes." From Freddy vs Jason (total rip off) be better if they wrote their own freakin dialouge...

"How's this for a wet dream?" From Part 4
"You're in my world, b**ch!" ripped off from "Welcome to my world, b**ch" from Freddy vs Jason.

I just feel if this was a remake of the original, why rip stuff from the sequels from the original? Why not write your own stuff instead of relying on what other people have worked hard to write?!

Sadly ... I would probably give this film 2 stars. If you're a fan of the original, don't watch it.
 
^ i was really hoping that movie would be good, i wanted to see it when i am back home. is it even worth renting eventually? maybe it will end up in grenada by the time i come back again in the fall, and i will go on $2 day :lol:
