I loved The Hours. A really great movie. But I can't make up my mind which story I prefer.

I went to see The Dark Knight and I thought it was great. It was a really intense film, scary and frightening, yet funny at times. Watch it if you get the chance!

I watched the new x Files movie the other night.

It was... interesting.

Good in some respects, terrible in others.

The actual plot line was mediocre. I mean, the case (aside from the psychic and head removal thing) could have been taken from any crime show; it lacked that.... oomf the X Files was renowned for giving us. Where was the impact, the blatant disregard for all laws of physics? Yes, I know they were stepping away from the 'conspiracy arch' but still, it was too flat for the X Files.

The other characters were well developed in the short time they were all actually alive. And is it bad I laughed when the female agent (still can't remember her name) went flying through the air in that 'Matrix' fashion... I shouldn't laugh, I know but....

That said, as a big Mulder/Scully romance fan I was a very happy bunny with this movie, although it could have had more moments and clarification, I feel. I enjoyed the romance... *sigh* They said they'd give it, and they did deliver...

I liked their conflict too. The issue that Mulder's obsessions would tear them apart is something that has been prevalent through every episode and the first film, so I'm glad they carried it one.

So, I'd give the plot a mediocre 4/10 and the character development/issues/concepts a wonderful 8.5/10.

Now, I want more MS love.

I just watched Pride and Prejudice the 2005 version with Keira Knightley. Loved it! I've never seen the BBC miniseries version so i can't compare, but this was a great film. The settings were beautiful, the actors amazing, the plot was shortened from the previous movie and the book (of course) but still very detailed but easy to follow.
I thought it would be a typical period movie that I'd finish by strength of will alone, but I ended up watching the outtakes and deleted scenes cause I didn't want it to be over.

I saw Babylon AD and Pinapple Express over the long weekend. Due to critical anihilation, I had pretty low expectations of Babylon AD, so actually it turned out to be better than I thought. I understand why the director basically washed his hands of it though- the first 2/3rds were not bad, but the end... pffft. It's like they suddenly decided to themselves, "Alright, let's just wrap this up. I'm over it already." It was so completely half-assed and anti-climactic, I can't believe it. Anyway, for the genre, the performances were fine- Vin was Vin. He's pretty much usually the same guy, so this wasn't much of a stretch for him. The girl was pretty good, as was her guardian. Definitely not a great film, but it could have been better without what I can only assume was a whole lot of tinkering by the studio. Idiots.

Pineapple Express- in a word, hilarious! Again, I had average expectations for this one, but I managed to laugh out loud for pretty much the entire film. Now, I often find that the crowd (or person) you're watching a film with can sometimes affect your viewing of it, and I'll have to admit the crowd at the theatre was in stitches the whole time, so it was easy to laugh along. I gotta say though, James Franco was amazing as Sol the small time dealer. He was just freakin' adorable. Anyway, if you liked SuperBad and the zaniness, you'll probably enjoy this one too. Definitely a fun time. :)

Memento and My Sassy Girl.

I've been looking all over for a DVD of Memento. I finally found it recently. I actually spent my time recovering from the flu watching it. It was a really good film. Christopher Nolan (of Dark Knight fame) pretty much did a great job with directing it. Guy Pearce was totally in his element. He was that good. Ante-retrograde amnesia made this film really intriguing and interesting. It was quite confusing at the start but then once you're into it, you'd get the pattern. Great film all around.

As for My Sassy Girl, the Hollywood version, it was okay. Elisha Cuthbert was quite irritating at times. Jesse Bradford did what he could. All in all, I thought the original Korean version was so much better.

^^Memento is an amazing flick. someone told me like 4 years ago to watch it when we were talking about movies. i rented it and had no idea Jorja Fox was in it soo that was a pleasent surprise when i was watching the movie. besides that though the movie is soo different and i like how it makes the viewer think.

i just bought The Promotion tuesday. it was really good. Sean William Scott, John C. Reilly and Jenna Fischer are in the movie. it's funny but not laugh out loud funny. it's great to hear Jenna Fischer curse those were my fave parts haha.

it was Mamma Mia! I enjoyed it a lot, as I watched it with my two best friends. I like ABBA songs and it was cool to see the songs in an absolutely different context. The story was ok, too,but it wasn't the most important thing in it. I liked the actors, Pierce Brosnan's singing was priceless :)

I think it was a good summer movie...it was the second film in my life that made me wanna go to karaoke:lol: (the first was Chicago:))

The original version of Shutter (Thai version). I was expecting to get really scared with this one since everyone I know who've seen it said it really scared the sh*t out of them. However, it didn't quite scare me that much. It is scary but I just didn't get scared easily. Don't get me wrong though since this was really a great film. The concept's really original. I loved it. Great film all around. I highly recommend this.

it's awesome to see how many people have been enjoying Mamma Mia! i didn't think it was going to do as well as it has been b/c it's Abba songs and most people think Abba is a joke. i love this movie to bits, glad you liked it soo much Stee.

i cam back from school this weekend and my mom and i spent this rainy day watching "Meet Me In St.Louis". it was such a good movie, so geeky b/c of the time period it takes place in but it was fun to watch. definately asking for this for Christmas.

I just finished watching Gone Baby Gone. Absolutely fantastic movie! If you like mysteries, you'll probably like it. It made me want to go dig up my book that I have written by Dennis Lehane and read it right now. The characters were fantastic, very believable, and the storlyine was great.

The last film I saw was Purple Violets. I really wanted to see this since Patrick Wilson was in it. I finally was able to get the DVD this weekend. This was a romantic comedy. It's not your usual fluffy one. It's got great dialogue and the banter between the main characters, played by Edward Burns, Selma Blair, Patrick Wilson and Debra Messing, are so witty. What I like about this film is the fact that it's real. It's romantic but not overly so. My sister and I were laughing so hard throughout the film because of the fast and witty dialogue. All in all a great film. I highly recommend it.

I've just seen 21 this evening, it was a very good movie.
It's about a young team, who study at the same college and they're all geniuses (sp?) at maths, and their math teacher teaches them how to trick at the casino at the 21 table. The story starts when Ben is invited to join the team, and he enters because he wants to finance his studies at Harvard. They go to Vegas, win much money, but the crack comes, and Ben and the teacher get across, and the prof steals all his money and cuts his studies, but to pay back Ben agrees with the beating man (Morpheus from Matrix :D) that if he entraps his teacher for him, he's free to go with the money.
At the end, everybody got what they deserved, the prof got beaten and Ben got the girl.

Omg, it was a great story, i liked the actors as well, but i cant tell stories well:rolleyes:

Stee, I've added a spoiler box to your post. Please make sure you don't give away details about the movie, like the ending or deaths, etc. We don't want to spoil it for others who haven't seen it. Thank you. :)

i just watched "Connie and Carla" the other night. it was funny in some parts. if anyone has seen the movie the dinner they sit at in the begining is right down the road where i'm staying for school and they shot the airport scenes at Newark Airport (these are in New Jersey).

i also just watched "The Black Widow" with Ginger Rogers and Van Hemling. very good movie. i like a lot of old movies but sometimes they're a bit hard to follow but this was easy and interesting.

I was bored last night so I and watched '27 dresses'. It's a very predictable girly movie. I forced my husband to watch it with me (well, not forced, but it wouldn't ordinarily have been his first choice of movie) and he said it was 'OK' (he's a good sport). I'm not sure I'd watch it again, but it could have been worse. I guess if you're someone who loves weddings then you'll like it, but it's a movie that's unlikely to win any awards.
