"Redrum" Discussion **Spoilers**

See, I want to throttle Keppler, right now. I mean, his actions may lead to the capture of the badguy, and that's all great, and everything; but there are a lot of other factors here. The undersherrif, Brass, Cath and Keppler all know. I don't think it'd hurt to tell the rest of the team.

I'm interested that you're willing to throttle Keppler for something that everyone's mostly agreed is the fault of the "higher ups". Sure, it was his (admittedly unorthodox) idea, but there's no evidence to suggest that he's twisting Catherine's arm that I've observed.

All four people at that table agreed to it. Would you pin this all on Brass, too?

Oh my gosh, it's an opinion. I wasn't trying to start a brawl, here. I feel like I shouldn't even say anything in this thread because people are going to jump in and attack.

Look, I don't like that Keppler said they should keep it from the others. Catherine tried to tell him that it wasn't a good idea, but the undersherrif went with Keppler on it. That bugs me. It's going to bug me because I love my team, and I would hate it if I were in that position.

Also, in terms of Catherine fighting harder, I wish she had fought a little harder. My opinion. That's all. I mean, I don't like her lying to the team. I don't think she's Grissom. That's the pleasure of this show is that all the characters are unique and different. But, as often as Catherine has gone behind people's backs to do what she thought was right (test DNA, give Gil information about Sam's limo size, get 1,000,000$ for Nicky's ransom), she's usually fairly upfront with her team. I get that she doesn't like the idea, and that's fine. I just wish she'd fought a little harder, maybe gone behind the backs of "The Man." Just my opinion.

I am looking forward to this mutiny. It's what I'm looking forward most in this episode because I do want to see what pushes Nick so far. I mean, he stood up for her against Adam Novak. He was her right hand man, there, letting Novak know the problem was HIM, not Catherine. What did Catherine do that pushed Nick so far? What did she do that her team mates would sneak around? I mean, there are times when information isn't shared, but something goes terribly wrong, just as the foursome at the table said it might. If the whole mission is compromised because the team went mutiny on Catherine, who was lying to them in the first place, I'm not sure where the blame will lie, and it'll probably depend on the fan and their individual character preference. It's a tough situation, and it's dirty, and it's not easy, and that's fine. I like that there's going to be a lot of grey in this episode. I like that it's not all black and white and right and wrong.

Cath and Keppy are doing what they think will help catch a badguy. Nick, Greg, Sara and Warrick are worried that they're being lied to, that something isn't on the level, and they want to make sure that everything is... So, they take things into their own hands. Something could go terribly wrong, and if it does, I hope there's some continuity with it in the future.

Erk, I'm sorry if I came across unnecssarily sharp. I like challenging other people's ideas as a way of conjuring conversation (and, to be honest, I like it when people do the same to me -- helps me better define my own position) but I can understand that not everyone is like that.

Really, I don't mean to sound hostile.

Sorry if I had a knee-jerk reaction, there. The issue with the internet is that there's no vocal tone to let one know if a comment is an attack or someone playing Devil's advocate. My apologies if I snapped a bit. I do like a challenge, I just didn't read your comment as such. Again, apologies.

I think it's all going to be a matter of opinion in this thread, and it's hard to speak openly and also tread lightly, because we all have biases and opinions. That's why, I really want this episode to air so we can have informed opinions on the context of the episode! :) Only then, I think, will I know where I stand on the mutiny and cover-up. However, my initial reactions remain. :)

I saw a preview on CTV tonight and I saw Catherine slipping something into her pocket and then when Sara asked why they were covering up the windows, Catherine said, "Something I can't get into." She didn't say at the moment.

Then it showed Nick slicing evidence tape on a car and Sara sneaking into someone's office.

I think the four find out that the crime scene was a fake one.

Interesting.

Catherine is being a tad sneaky now.

blackflag I'm with you...I noticed right away that after they said Keppler was going to work with Grave for 'training' even tho he's technically on the day shift, that he seemed to act like a supervisor. He definitely seemed to be running the show in the layout room scene with Nick, Cath and Sara.

And, hmmm...where is Ecklie? Isn't he the one who would have approved Keppler's hiring?

it is weird...he acts like he's so important. hes just a visitinf CSI, they dont even know him, and all of a sudden hes trying to take controll of the team.
also, why is his bio on cbs longeer than the bios of all the other characters combined? hes so promotional...the show has good ratings allready...i mean, im ok with keppler i gues, but i dont like this commercialism.

Oh, Keppler. Yeah, plainly this is all his fault, as he showed up for work that morning. ;)

Interesting comment. Actually, yeah, I can see where you're coming from. Just because we don't agree with Keppler's methods doesn't mean that they're necessarily unethical or anything like that. True, I don't think many people like Keppler all that much (myself included), but really, that could just be simply because he's disturbing the status quo. People don't like change. Anyway, as I've said before, I really just want to see the episode and find out what the heck is going on.

My personal opinion is that, as someone said before, it's TPTB attempting to stir a little somethin' up. To throw a wrench into a smooth sailing 7th Season. I'm a bit of a fence sitter when it comes to this topic becasue Cath and Nick are my 2 favorite characters.

Cath: I already ranted on why I was so upset that TPTB wrote it this way. Cath is in charge for 5 minutes and she's already screwing up. Another excuse on why a man (Keppler or Grissom for that matter) needs to be in charge. Anyways, I believe that yes, Catherine has made her mistakes, but lying to the team? That's a low blow. I don't understand why she would do it, even if the Sheriff told her too. If they are so close, than why would she keep something like this from them?

Nick: In 7 seasons we've all noticed that Nick is the most sensitive and the aftermath of Grave Danger didn't help much. I believe that he sees the team as a family unit and that one of those family members has lied and decieved the team. I don't understand why he was so enraged though. I haven't seen the CTV promo but from the information I've gathered it seems that Keppler was sticking his nose into someones (Nick's) personal business. Could that be why he's so upset? That his personal business was being revealed to Keppler? I don't know.

Anyone else got any ideas?

P.S. Does anyone have the link to the CTV promo of "Redrum"?

I haven't heard about this whole Keppler sticking his nose into Nick's business, but now that you mention it, it clicks. Maybe it's something about Grave Danger or something like that. I don't know where to find the CTV promo, though. Sorry.

With regards to Keppler's position, I think it makes the most sense to assume that he's been hired in a supervisory position on Day. Catherine's showing him the ropes, giving him a sense of how the city works, but in the end they're the same rank and he defers to her in "Sweet Jane" because it's her team, not his.

For one thing, Robbins asked why he didn't have an office yet and I'm pretty sure the other minions don't have 'em.

Ok so, I do think that the team finds out whats going on, because that would add an interesting twist, which could lead to things cooling down if the others think that Catherine had the right to keep it a secret from them. Because frankly, they could fight for both ends because Cath was kind of backed in a corner and if they find out whats going on, some of the team could shrug it off, however some *cough*Nick*cough* would fight back by saying that she still could have done something to give them a hint or something like that.

Basically, what everyone here is fighting over as well.

Of course, if they don't find out, then the only thing they know is that Catherine and the new guy are doing something behind their back, and I personally don't blame them for being pissed about that.

However, if/when they see she didn't have much of a choice, that will give a couple of them a reason to back off.

I don't know would. Definitely Greg cuz he didn't seem too into the plan in the first place. So that would leave Warrick and Sara.. I don't know.

I'll be interested to see how this plays out...

My opinion, I think Nick is afraid that the teams will break up again like in fifth season. I don't think the clips and tv will show the something like it show on clip or maybe it will show it on tv. I will watch to see it tomorrow, I can't wait to see this. I like to see angry Nick.

Sara will probably won't have no problem siding with Nick. I notice Greg is having trouble to decide what to do. Remember he never have Catherine as a boss before. Warrick will always side with Nick or not.

I'm wondering now what the rest of the team is actually supposed to be doing. If they aren't on the Keppler/Cath case, they ought to have their own cases. So are we going to see any of that or are we only going to see them snooping around after Cath? Was that mentioned somewhere that I missed?

I don't know but that's a good question; What is the rest of the team doing, following Cath? I hope that's not it. I would like them to at least be doing something in this Ep other than just waiting around for Catherine to screw up...
