Ratings: CSI vs ...

I don't know that the OC will affect either show, necessarily.

When their season started, we didn't see a huge dint in the ratings.

OC fans may just go to The Office or My Name is Earl or Scrubs.

But it will probably have an affect on at least one show in the timeslot - it was a damn crammed hour.

However, the 2 or 3 million, if given to CSI or Grey's could push either show firmly into the top spot. So while not a huge chunk, it could be influential.

oh! i completely forgot about this. put me down for 23.5 million please

But of course, madame.

IloveBilly: 26.7 million
DragonflyDreamer: 25.4 million
brass lives: 25 million
Ziggystarduzt: 24.68 million
Adzix: 24 million
allmaple: 23.5 million
Sarahvma: 22.4 million
Miss Dee: 22 million

Any last bets? Until 6pm coastal, 9pm eastern! 3 more hours! lol.

A bit of an odd move, but I guess they're hoping for lead-in ratings... CBS has put two episodes of CSI back-to-back tonight. The first is Spellbound which was the lowest-rated episode of Season 6, and then Leaving Las Vegas at the usual time.

Grey's is airing a two-part re-run.

Only the first part of theirs will start at 9 and the second at 10.

Either way - CSI and Grey's will have two places each on the ratings board for this week...

So for my many many charts, my question is this:

Should I just compare the new episode of CSI to the new episode of Grey's next week?

And just keep doing it by episode number to episode number and forget the re-runs? I'm pretty sure CSI is a re-run next week, which would make them comparable.

I'd just go with the former, sarahvma. I mean, it's interesting to see the repeat numbers, but they really don't count towards averages anyway. So we don't really need the charts. I enjoy the new airing charts though. :)

This is what zaptv had:
Gil Grissom's (Petersen) last case at "CSI" for a while dominated the 9 p.m. hour, scoring a 15.8/24. A "Grey's Anatomy" rerun on ABC was a distant second at 6.9/10. "Scrubs," 4.7/7, and "30 Rock," 3.9/6, kept NBC in third. "The O.C." posted a 2.5/4, keeping FOX in front of The CW, which went with another "Smallville."

what is a 15.8? whatever it is those are huge numbers

WOW. Isn't that their best for the year?

I was thinking the same thing. Thanks, ollieuan.

Record high season ratings last night, guys.

CSI kicked ass. Majorly. Their 18-49's were higher than Werewolves last year.

No word on viewership numbers.

Here are the preliminary numbers
The future of Gil Grissom drew a throng Thursday evening. Our "CSI" hero drove away -- how long will he be gone? -- and millions cared. Preliminary ratings put the average audience at 25.9 million, the biggest for the drama this season. The forensics drama posts huge numbers when ABC airs a "Grey's Anatomy" rerun -- the one Thursday attracted 10.2 million. Source

Thanks, Hottie Cath.

25.9 million puts Dragonfly Dreamer as our winner!

That also would place CSI's average for the season at: 21.97

with Living Legend removed (because it's considered a special), their average is: 22.5 million

They have risen 10.2% from their last episode.

Last year's episode (werewolves) got 27.233 million, putting this episode 4.9% lower than it.

Compared to its premiere, CSI is up 12.8%

Proper charts will be done when the final numbers are in.

It should also be noted that this is the first time that CSI has broken Grey's season high.

Yep. That's right. I have a time machine in my basement

I am so angry with you right now, young lady.

Okay - so good for CSI.

We'll have to see how Grey's does next week without any CSI competition as a comparison, but I think right now... very early to call, but that CSI will be the Thursday night winner from now till the finale.

Well, at least I admitted it.

Oh, I forgot to mention... congrats to CSI for it's numbers :D
